Ladder 49 (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
One of the top 5 Films of the Year!! Ladder 49 is Great!

I loved this movie, it shows the brotherhood with firefighters and the dangers they face, as well as the toll that it takes on the firemans families. You won't get something like "Backdraft" with this movie, you'll get something SOOOO much better!

An everyday hero recalls his life as he's forced to look death in the eye in this adventure drama. Jack Morrison (Joaquin Phoenix) is a young firefighter who is a member of Ladder Company 49, led by Chief Kennedy (John Travolta), a tough but compassionate man who looks upon his fellow firefighters as a family. While battling a blaze, Morrison finds himself trapped inside a burning building, and as Kennedy and his men try to find a way to rescue him, Morrison looks back on his life and how he came to choose such a dangerous career. Ladder 49 also features Jacinda Barrett and Brooke Hamlin as, respectively, Morrison's wife and daughter

This movie, I would say is a great follow up to the first. There's a lot going on, but somehow it didn't feel scattered and random. I'm not gonna' go off and give it all away...I'm just going to recommend everyone who's a Spidey fan to watch it. 80)

My all-time favorite movie...

"The Crow" is, by far, my favorite movie of all time. I thought that "The Crow: City of Angels" was alright, but in my opinion, nowhere near compares to the original movie. If you have seen and liked this movie, you might also want to check out J. O'Barrs comic book series'. There should be a new one coming out soon, I believe...

OMG. I have loved this movie ever since I was like 5 years old!! My aunt got me the Japanese version and when I was little I used to watch it every day. The music and drawings are soo awesome. ^_^ Even now as a 15 year old I still LOVE it. It still hasn't lost its magical touch.

Barbie as Rapunzel - movie DVD cover picture
A delightful movie for the kids and adults alike

This movie has nothing to do with the original brothers grimm fairy tale. Although the animation is all pretty and pink, the movie doesn't even come close to the rapunzel story. It was slamming the tale so much, I'm sure the brothers grimm would be turning in their graves by now. If your looking for the real fairy tale try the shelley duvall fairy tale theatres they at least stay true to the original.

The Farrelly Brothers have done it again!!!!!!

One of the best comedies I've ever seen. It was laguh out loud funny. I've seen it approx. 5 times now, and I know most of the lines. Stiller is superb, much better than is directing fiasco, The Cable Guy. Cameron Diaz is perfect, A hot girl who loves the 49ers, and SportsCenter!!! I think I'm in heaven. Chris Elliot came up, and so did Matt Dillon. People I never thought I'd see do comedy, had me rolling in the isles in the movie theater. Laugh out loud funny from beginning to end. If you liked Kingpin, you'll love this. the Farelly bros. know which funny people to use in both movies(watch carefully to figure out who they are). Two thumbs up, Fine holiday fun(Clueless Rference:Travis Birkenstock)

Giant makes me feel small

This is the film which underlines the tragedy which is the early death of James Dean. His performance as an uneducated, insecure drunken ranch hand who strikes oil lingers in the memory - out of all proportion to the few lines he gets in the script. It left me with the indelible impression of another Orson Welles (in Citizen Kane, a similar portrayal of an old man by a young actor) cut off before his time.
The long, rambling story is reminiscent of the Texas landscape in which it is set. It goes on and on, mostly featureless in terms of plot, but somehow keeps our attention through great writing and performances.
A great allegory for the transformation of America through the twentieth century; and a fine epitaph for a superlative talent.

I'm Russian, so I have had a chance to watch this movie in the original Russian version and one with English subtitles. I should admit that perception of the film is somewhat different between these versions.Humans often try to escape or try to ignore a difficult situation being afraid of possible (sometimes intolerable) consequences, creating a ground for subconscious conflicts. We carry these conflicts somewhere in our minds not realizing that these forgotten events from the past may play an important role in our future life. There is nothing in the human's world that can erase these events from people's mind.I think that this move is anything else but not a typical scientific fiction film. Yes, it includes all elements of sci-fi (remote planet, space station, extraterrestrial intelligence) but the main focus of the movie is on humans. The planet and the space station created an environment where people (under the influence of the planet) where forced to deal with their the most valuable, important, and controversial events from their past. The station was a trap from which there was no escape. These people had no other choice then to learn how to deal with their subconscious conflicts. Eliminating conflicts the planet gave a second chance, a chance to start a new life. Those who could not resolve the conflicts went crazy or committed a suicide.

Eyes Wide Shut - movie DVD cover picture
Best Movie in years

An overrated movie from an overpraised director. Still, it's sad that the man behind Dr. Strangelove finished his life and career on this low note. What is the point of this movie? Is Kubrick exploring the psycho-social ramifications of orgiastic sex? Is it a statement on the subterranean mores of cosmopolitan wives? Is it a warning that a dangerous cabal controls the sexual topography? Is Kubrick enjoying a private joke at the expense of Tom and Nicole's acting abilities? Even the film's ardent admirers can't say. But why should we fault them? Kubrick himself seemed confused. If you are someone who likes to see some examination of virtue (as well as decent acting) in a drama, you will find very little of value in Eyes Wide Shut.
