One of the great comedy bargains of all time

This DVD is packed with material, most of it absolutely hilarious. I'm a little prejudiced since I consider Tenacious D something of a comedy miracle but I would think anyone would appreciate the commitment, originality, and comic intensity that Jack and Kyle crank out throughout this collection. The concert here is brilliant and the extras are a lot of fun too, but the HBO episodes include some of the funniest comic moments I've seen in my life. And for less than 15 bucks? You couldn't go wrong at 5 times that price.

Excellent movie and a mind-teaser

Great movie which already has some world-famous quotes in it! "Where's ze money Lebowski", "Give us the money or we will cut off your Johnsson", "That's right man, nobody f.x with the Jesus". Great acting by Jeff Bridges and John Torturro. Had to see the movie several times to get all(?) the funny little details. Many fan-sites were erected over this movie!

The Adventures of Robin Hood (Two-Disc Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
They Don't Come Any Better Than This!

Errol Flynn dosen't actually use a buckler, but you get the idea. This is 'the' Robin Hood movie; don't waste your time on Robin Hoods with Midwestern accents. The political implications of Robin Hood are usually thought to favor the Left. This movie shows Robin in his true color - as a counterrevolutionary, fighting for restoration of the legitimate government, for the rights of yeomen farmers not to be taxed to death, and against usurpation and tyranny. Thomas Jefferson could have written much of this script. The un-PC Robin uses weapons to poach deer, confronts the local government over their abuse of power, and his democratic manners come out in sharp contrast to the rigid formality of the Court Party. Errol Flynn fits the part to a 'T,' and the viewer can well imagine him, had he been born seven centuries earlier, actually being the title character. Olivia de Haviland positively glows, and portrays the spirited courage and character that her faith and breeding were supposed to instill in every scene. Not as often mentioned is Richard the Lionheart, who, although absent until the final scenes, is so much larger than life that he dominates the screen when he appears. The duel scene, the use of shadows, and the many-splendored pagentry have been celebrated often enough to make any further praise redundant. Taken as a whole, this is the best movie of its' kind, and the standard against which this writer has measured all others since it became his childhood favorite. -Lloyd Conway

Angel - Season Two - movie DVD cover picture
Bless Angel

Season 2 of Angel takes a couple of steps up from it's freshman season, and takes its viewers on an escapage that is just as fresh, fun, emotional, and scary as Buffy itself. It doesn't hold the same feeling as Buffy does, but it produces itself a new feeling, a feeling for the Angelverse.
Season 2 begin to flesh out its characters. Angel, Cordelia, and Wesley's role as Angel Investigations has continued past its last horrific experience, but this time they're in an awesome new setting. With the addition of Gunn and Lorne, the cast now seems to be round and about complete. With Darla's return and the evil that is Wolfram and Hart, there is never a bore. Especially with the inclusion of Drusilla (whose moments of insanity are better than ever).
Angel season 2 settles the show for it's future seasons and future storylines, as it is a season of building and pretense. The DVD presentation is just as equal with the first season. Nothing new here, but all the supplements are just as interesting.
Darla's human, Dru returns, Darla's a vamp, Lilah (Stephanie Romanov is delicious) is promoted, Cordelia becomes princess, Lindsay is ran out of town, Fred is introduced, and a heck of a lot more happens in what is Angel season 2.

No Saga will ever beat Star Wars

The three greatest movies ever made our now on DVD. Let's stop getting mad at George for what ever changes he decided to make. They're his movies and his decisions deserve to be respected. This is the man who brought us the "Holy TRIlogy"! Let's just remember the movies for what they are...gold. If George Lucas decided to attempt to make them better, good for him. THe fact remains that this boxed set is the same three movies we know and love. THe only difference is a little tuning of the special effects and a couple of added scenes. Star Wars is a boxed set i will cherish for the rest of my life. The "New" trilogy is not living up to the originals. However, i have seen the third installment and it overcomes the first two's overall crappiness. The third star wars is fantastic. It is the best of the saga and sets the originals up nicely. Star Wars is something that everyone can cherish, and the DVD boxed set will alow us to do that better. Stop protesting and enjoy the films that made our jaws drop 28 years ago...in a galaxy far far away...

Better Luck Tomorrow - movie DVD cover picture
5 star masterpiece

In his first film Justin Lin has not only done away with cinematic stereotypes but he has also made one of the most astonishing first features since Resivior Dogs. (I would say Clerks but this is more of a Quientin-esque film- and lets face it while Clerks is a personal film Dogs does and says more).
Better Luck Tomorrow is about a group of overachieving Asian youth in a suburban LA community and how their intelligance(or in some cases lack there of) gets them a free ticket to do whatever they want. I won't give spoilers, except to say they embark on a series of escapades that are dangerous.
this will end up being one of the best films of the year!!

An Instant Camp Classic!! One Viewing & You're Hooked!!!!

If you LOVE black comedy and LOVE overdone "stereo-typical" Southern types.... You must buy this DVD or video NOW!!!
The performances are outstanding and the film will be in your memory after it's over. I guarantee you'll tell a friend that they need to see it too. If you grew up in ANY small (minded) town in this country, you'll relate to most if not all the characters here. Invite all your friends over, straight and gay and sit back and laugh out loud!!!!
p.s. put a rubber band on your wrist and start a drinkin' game!

entertaining and inspiring at the same time

I loved the whole movie! Anything Shirley and Meryl do is fabulous. They should work together more often because they make a great team! I didn't know Meryl was such a great singer. A popular problem with celebrities and their children as well as the general public is brought into focus in a way that is very believable and touching. I highly recommend this movie.

Big Hair Rules

All I can say is ......wow!!!! Thank you Rhino for realizing there are Jem fans out there who still love to see it. I miss the 80's what a way to reminisce. I want the big hair back!!!! I dressed up every Halloween as a different Hologram every year. Seeing and hearing Jem on DVD is truly outrageous. The picture is just amazing , I never saw it on my television growing up look that brilliant. The sound is brilliant, watching it on my home theater system was alot of fun too. I could hear things pass around my living room, feel things blow up, and even feel like I was part of Synergy, with her beeping around my head. Then I watched the music videos, I could believe all the videos were seperate and you could watch each one with the surround sound. It felt like you were actually at a Jem & the Holograms concert with the Misfits opening. I truly truly hope that Rhino is outrageous and rereleases the remaing 39 episodes in another boxset.

Game of Death - movie DVD cover picture
I have no Title.

The spectacular fight scenes with the real Bruce Lee in Game of Death is the only thing worth mentioning about this movie and the only scenes worthy of 5 stars. As for the rest of the movie, Warner Bros did one hell of a job finding every exact duplicate from Bruce Lee to Dan inosanto. All in all, the movie stinks. I recommend anyone out there not to buy this film but i do recommend you look into "Bruce Lee: In G.O.D." which you can find on ebay. The DVD shows all of his last fight scenes from Game of Death - its worth it. Theres only one "WAY" and thats the Bruce Lee "WAY"
