One of the best films in 2004

I would give the Movie 5 stars; it really deserves 5 stars. My family enjoyed watching it. However, I really got mad when I was forced (you can't skip to the title page) to watch 2 lengthy previews for movies I really don't care about. You can't skip over them and get to the menu. When you get a movie free from a cereal box thats exceptable but when you buy one this shouldn't be. My son doesn't want to see previews. Maybe I being over critical but I just want someone to see this so they dont contiue forced previews. I don't mind previews but make it an option to skip.

REDUX is where it's at!

Well, it has been said that Apocaclypse Now is one of the all time greatest war movies ever made. It has also been said that it may be one of the greatest movies ever made. Well, I believe that to be true as well. With the late 2000 release of the re-edited and extended REDUX version, you can pretty much chalk that one up indeed one of the greatest movies ever made. Put that on a single-sided double-layered DVD and you have one hellava movie. Crystal clear picture and sound.
REDUX goes where the original didn't. It expands on character development and restores some scenes, such as the French Plantation scene and the Playboy Bunny medivac camp scene.
If you want the definitive version of this classic, you must pick up REDUX. The chapters are well laid out which singles out the added scenes so you can "skip" those scenes if you wish to view the movie as the original.
kiran david asked:"While I really enjoyed this version of the film what worries me is that the aspect ratio seems to be 1:1.85 instead if 2.35 which was what the original apocalypse now was. Is this a transfer error or did the director use 1.85 as the aspect ratio, though the trailer on the dvd seems to be in 2.35. Can someone please enlighten me on this one."
Well, that's kind of funny. I could have sworn my old Widescreen VHS copy seemed to be in 2.35:1 as well, but the new REDUX seems to be in 1.85:1. However if your DVD player and TV are capable of using 16:9 enhanced modes, the picture can be compressed down closer to about 2.0:1.

Mainly just for Gorillaz fans

It's about time we got a DVD from these guys. I've always wanted to see them talk/communicate with eachother outside songs, and we got it with this. The whole DVD is pretty much just their videos and story boards/animatics for them, but the videos are just so cool, that it's worth it to have them all right here. If you don't know which ones they've done- Tomorrow Comes Today, Clint Eastwood, 19-2000, Rock the House, and you get an animatic for 5/4. The coolest story board is for Clint Eastwood, where it shows a small extended ending to the video.
Aside from those, you get a few Gorillaz Bitez...which are quick animated shorts of them doing things (playing games, jumping over Russel, Murdoc killing an eel, etc.), a long "interview" about how the band got started. It's really funny actually. All of Murdoc's ex girlfriends talk about how sick he was and how he'd beat around 2-D. Then you get 2 live concert performances and one long visual presentation of most of the songs that don't have videos. It's mainly just a bunch of colors with the band flying around. It's pretty cool once you just lay back and watch it. There are a few other smaller extras that you should like if you like the band at all. But why would you be getting this if you didn't?
This limited edition comes with a CD-ROM...I don't know what it does since my computer has dead speakers (they're being used as foot rests right now) but it's probably tons of extras for the website. It also comes with really sweet stickers, just as cool as the promotional ones that came out when their first album came out 2 years ago...and a 52 page book that has tons of art and information. Oh yeah I almost forgot! Watch all of the Bitez (in order I think) and then go to the computer office screen. Then go to the upper left corner and you'll see a bonus video from their Space Monkeys album.
Get this if you like Gorillaz, or have interest in animation/comics. You won't be disappointed. And if you are, I'll buy your copy just to have back up.

Back to basics

Sometimes the simplest things are the best !I can recommand also the french silent movie version from henri diamant-berger(in 1921 too) that was a huge budget for this time and was lost forever before being found by chance in a private home.
No matter how thrilling and entertaining all the movie adaptations of dumas stories are, the book is still the best
That old movie is very close to the book which is a great thing
to get it, go to the french amazon ( and type les trois mousquetaires choose the one from diamant-berger

The Lion King (Disney Special Platinum Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
For animated films, there's Lion King, then everyhing "else"

This movie truly was Disney's paramount achievement. The Lion King was a culmination of years of tweaking and mastering the formula for animated films, and I think the result really blew people away. For this movie, Disney literally used all the tricks to produce a masterpiece that transcended the genre. The greatest compliment we can give to this film is that it's not only known as the greatest animated movie of all time, it's one of the best to ever hit the big screens.
Are there flaws to this movie? After four viewings, I'm convinced that the answer is "no" (unless you think the subliminal "SEX" that appears in the dirt and leaves when Simba plops onto the ground under the stars somehow diminishes the movie's quality... hey, it was kinky and, in retrospect, foolish, but it takes nothing away from the movie).
If you haven't seen The Lion King, you've sadly deprived yourself of an unforgettable experience. Truly funny, touching, inspiring, gripping, and triumphant, it's a real tribute to Disney, especially since in the nineties, this was a company known for its mediocre or embarrassingly bad flicks.
The Lion King shines head and shoulders above the crowd... this movie was so good, it changed the animation scene... not until Toy Story did an animated film produced in the U.S. (one could say the Japanese animation Princess Mononoke was as good, if not better, than TLK) come even close to the bar of excellence TLK set. The fact that we still remember it, nine years later, as a classic that must be rewatched speaks volumes for its lasting legacy.

Star Wars - Episode II, Attack of the Clones (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
A short time ago, in galaxy not far away.

Episode II is not a bad movie, I see nothing wrong with it. Possibly some of you do not like it because of the love story they add, or the CG effects. It's not dredful, as some of you put it. The CG effects are fantastic! I love the graphics, it adds more action to the film, makes it seem more advanced. This movie takes place WAY in the future. If the graphics are "adavanced" looking, then they don't support the time in the film. Attack of the clones uses alot of computer graphics, i admit that. However, it's not obvious.

As for You diehard star wars fans, ones who like episodes 4, 5, and 6, the originals, it's understandable you wouldnt like the newer ones. Who would be happy with new people playing your favorite movie? Personally, I didnt grow up with star wars therefore it doesnt appeal to me that much. I only know of the Phantom Menace and Attack of the clones. I enjoyed both movies very much. Therefore--this movie is good to me.

Ozzy Osbourne - Don't Blame Me - movie DVD cover picture

This is a truly amazing dvd with concert footages aplenty ranging from his days in Black Sabbath all the way to his kick-ass solo career. You can notice the "bass" change in the dvd when he removes himself from the Black Sabbath era as there is a lack of heavy bass in most of their songs. Turn it up real loud , and as the dvd shifts to the solo career " I don't want to change the world " just shifts into overdrive with amazing frantic concert footages guaranteed to put some goosebumps on you , forcing you to chant " Ozzy ! Ozzy ! " It basically starts off with Ozzy giving his views on his Black Sabbath days , and others sharing their thoughts. It slowly moves on to Ozzy's solo career where he speaks off Randy Rhoads , his family and musical direction. This dvd gives a good overview and history of the " Mad Man " himself , and whether you're an Ozzy fan or not , you're guaranteed to be a huge one after this !

The Truth is on the DVD!

Might I just say, wow!
This is an excellent product. The episodes are of very high quality, and to have them all together looking better than they do on most TV sets on cable is simply wonderful.
The extras are there, too! Behind the scenes, special effects. My only gripe is that nothing was really compiled especially for this DVD set - it was all taken from other areas. However, I am not really complaining.
Half of these wonderful eps are not available on VHS.
Even if you are a minor fan, sit down one weekend with this DVD set and you'll fall in love with the X Files all over again.
A must buy!

The Mask of Zorro - movie DVD cover picture
Antonio Banderas is really cool!

Indiana Jones meets the Three Musketeers meets Robin Hood. This movie was wonderful. Anthony Hopkins did a wonderful job as the original Zorro. At the beginning of the movie, arch nemesis takes all and Zorro is left with nothing. After escaping prison years later, he plans his revenge.
Enter Antonio Banderas.
Old Zorro trains Antonio's character into the all new and all hot Zorro. Planning to use him as a tool in revenge, he discovers that Antonio/Zorro also has a revenge in mind. He wants to kill the man who 'keeled' his brother.
In another plot twist, Anthony/Zorro's daughter has been raised as the daughter of his mortal enemy. And she's hot. Of course, she and Antonio/Zorro must meet. Every Robin Hood needs his Maid Marrian.
This movie is fun, funny, and full of some really cool sword fighting scenes. There is this really gross part where you see someone's head and hands in some jars, but it's over quickly.I would totally recommend this movie to anyone who likes action/adventure with a little romance.
