One of the best DVDs

I viewed this last night on my big screen TV. I have a copy of the wide-screen version. This is simply an amazing DVD with great special effects, sounds and extra features.
The cover says that there is an extra 30 minutes of scenes, which were difficult for me to find.
Overall if you are a LOTR fan, then you should definitely get this DVD.

What a treat to see Ariel and Eric again happily married

Will the real Ariel please stand up? You have been replaced by a bad replica.
She's a rigid, irrational parent who evidently learned nothing from her own story. The first movie ended with a meeting of the "merpeople" and the humans, but we find Ariel's teenaged daughter knows NOTHING of her roots? What kind of garbage is this? It makes no sense whatever when viewed in context of what happened in the original movie. Who wrote this? Where they the same people who ruined the "Lady and the Tramp" sequel? (Fortunately, due to this sequel, I rented "Scamp's Adventure" [see my comments there], so I didn't waste my money buying it.) Fire them, before they screw up again!
Then there's the otherwise re-tread of a story and the forgettable music. Yuck! Sheesh! Give me a break! Too bad I didn't rent it first; I may try sending it back to Disney and requesting a good movie to replace it, maybe when "Dumbo" comes out.

Never saw it on TV, but

I don't own a television. I never even HEARD of firefly until about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I got the first disk on netflix and I couldn't believe the quality. This isn't like any TV show I've ever seen (if TV was usually like this, I'd own a television). I bought the DVD boxed set and I've watched every episode multiple times and I can't wait until September 30 when the MOVIE (Serenity) comes out. (Yes, they are making a movie. Traditionally, this does not happen with failed TV shows, but Firefly is special).

"Crash," Refreshingly Honest, Poignant & Surprisingly Funny

Paul Haggis pulls back the veil of hypocrisy in an effort to reveal that all species human, regardless of their class, status or skin hue possess varied levels of racism that almost always seem to find their way to the surface in times of crisis.

The movie pulls no punches, but I for one, though at times felt shaken up never felt beaten up. At times felt saddened, but never felt abandoned. If Haggis was preaching, it wasn't brimstone and hellfire, and it wasn't to the choir. It was more like a modern book of "Revelations," and either you get it or you don't!

Painful, yes, but almost always poignant and often surprisingly funny, Haggis makes certain no one escapes his magnifying glass. At times the malevolence that spews from the lips of Sandra Bullock (The DAs wife) or Shaun Toub (The Persian shop owner) is brutal and exceedingly uncomfortable. But for Haggis it's like a detox program on the road to recovery.

The tapestry is woven with purpose and coincidence that may preach and pound but it never hems or haws or equivocates. It's the kind of film that tries to prove that an audience 'can handle the truth' (sorry Jack!).

L.A. is a cultural melting pot and serves perfectly as an authentic backdrop for the movie's message and tone. Here Haggis paints a cinematic mural of his City of Angels. A city of hate, hope and redemption.

In my opinion, "Crash" is never bleak, just refreshingly honest. It's funny, sad, poignant and finally, in its own way...healing.

Get Work Done

This movie is all around a wonderful movie. The songs, the animation all of it is great. It is truly a classic that people of all ages will enjoy. All I have to do is put this in the DVD player and both of my children are quiet from beginning to end, they are 3 and 1 we know how hard it is to keep the attention of children this age. I will admit, I personally enjoy is as well. No doubt, this is a must have for any DVD collection, especially if you have small children.

Xceptional

Why did Denzel miss out on an acadamy award for this film is one great mystery to me. His mannerisms, speech and passion is pure Malcolm. And his likeness to Malcolm is uncanny.
A gripping film which is inspirational and confronts all Americans to the reality of racism during those turbulent times. A special visit by none other than Nelson Mandella at the end was surprising and very fitting.
This is a classic drama which you will surely love as much as I did.

Beethoven Violin Concerto & Handel Violin Sonata & Shostakovich Four Preludes / Leonid Kogan - movie DVD cover picture
My favorite virtuoso of all time

Kogan!!! Kogan!!! Kogan!!!
Mr Kogan was not merely a technician nor is his playing in anyway cold. How do I find the words to describe his magic? Effortless technique, the ability to speak with every note, flawless intonation, expressive phrasing and vibrato, a great sence of timing, delivery of music with finesse and advanced musicality, and sensitivity and emotion in the most intimiate moments.
Music included on this DVD includes:->ANDREI MYTNIK PIANO FILMED IN LONDON, 26 MARCH 1962
1)HANDEL VIOLIN SONATA IN E MAJOR, HWV3732)DEBUSSY BEAU SOIR3)SHOSTAKOVICH 24 PRELUDES, OP. 34 NOS 10, 15, 16, 24->ORCHESTRA NATIONAL DE L'ORTF, LOUIS DE FROMENT CONDUCTOR 4)BEETHOVEN VIOLIN CONCERTO IN D MAJOR, OP. 61 ->FILMED AT THE ORTF, PARIS. 12 MARCH 1966 5)BACH SARABANDE FROM PARTITA FOR SOLO VIOLIN IN D MINOR->NAUM WALTER PIANO FILMED IN PARIS, 1968 6)BRAHMS HUNGARIAN DANCE NO. 17 IN F SHARP MINOR 7)PAGANINI CANTABILE 8)FALLA SUITE POPULAIRE ESPAGNOLE
->BONUS/LEONID KOGAN AND ELIZAVETA GILELS-KOGAN VIOLINS FILMED IN PARIS, 21 NOVEMBER 1963 9)LECLAIR SONATA FOR 2 VIOLINS IN C MAJOR, OP.3 NO. 3
The video is in black and white, the sound quality is good but the quality of recording at the time dulls the tone of his DelJesu, even so the man simply plays like he is on fire. I would recommend this video to any violin student without hesitation especially because I believe this is the best video you can get of the Beethoven Concerto.
If you like this DVD make sure to get the VHS made by Kultur called "Interpretations by Leonid Kogan" The VHS and this DVD are absolutely essential to any violinist's library.
5 Stars all the way!!!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Sixth Season - movie DVD cover picture
For what it's worth, my favourite season...

I steadfastly resisted "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" for the first 5 seasons. Despite lavish praise from friends with good taste, I just couldn't get past my conviction that it sounded really stupid. A casual "there's nothing else on" viewing changed my mind. So I'd seen the whole backstory of BTVS for the first time in the months leading up to Season 6, and I was enormously impressed with the consistency and structure of the writing throughout the arc of the series. Season 6 seemed inevitable to me--everybody's chickens did, indeed, come home to roost, as has been observed by others here. Buffy and Spike made perfect sense, as did Xander's meltdown and Willow's addiction. I don't mean to say that the season was without surprises, just that the surprises were satisfying ones that advanced the characters' personal journeys. The final episodes of the season rank as the very best of the series for me, full of beatifully-realized, honest moments for the entire cast. Finally, I'll add my voice to the chorus of praise for the musical episode, which was both a real hoot and THE pivotal moment in the season's plot.

The Four Feathers

The Four Feathers is the movie you have been waiting for! There have not been any good movies out on DVD lately and I was really getting bored. The Four Feathers is an epic film of a man's struggle with his courage. Heath Ledger gives an awesome performance. I can't believe he wasn't nominated for a Golden Globe or Oscar. This film also boasts great performances by Wes Bentley and Kate Hudson. This is an awesome movie and I most certainly recommend it.

Fabulous Pick!

Grab It - A chance of Lifetime to Pick up Lambada Dance Pick - My choice 'Golden collection' & 5 Stars! I was gifted this DVD by my sis long ago and since then, it stands best setting fire in my room as I click on to watch it sometimes on special occassions. My hubby is too awe struck to see the swings and we even tried out the steps but ugh oh, its not cup of tea for all to dance 'Lambada'. The movie is simply superb but as far as my collection goes, I gotta Lambada Dance track exclusive too. Another nice movie was Dance with me which had some great dancing on floor apart from other movies like footloose, Dirty Dancing & Saturday Night Fever. Pick up if you really like Dancing, any day-any time, the unique Lambada tip toeing.
