One of my new favorite movies

Despite the fact that I now have to check behind my shower curtain everytime i go into the bathroom, making sure that damn bunny frank isn't there.........this is possibly one of the bestest movies ever. i want to thanks the casting people, as they took jake gyllenhaal and let him expand as this totally great character.......despite the fantasy feel of the whole picture, jake's performance made the whole thing totally comfortable. gotta love that evil grin! and jena malone was pretty good too! so, don't see this movie if you are you might not get sleep for a while (not that it is SCARY, but that damn rabbit is so creeptastic!)......but everyone else should see it. it's going straight into my staff picks. (i also like the fact that it takes place very close to where i live)

this film is a beautifully created film. it shows just how tense and just how close we actually came to nuclear war. thankfully cooler heads did prevail and we had a president who did not wish to push the button and destroy the entire world. the only problem with the film is that the intensity is not that strong, only because we already knew the ending, the world did not get destroyed.

By far , the best film noir of Clint Eastwood !

Fantastic film ; memticulous and carefully built ,loaded of the highest suspense you may expect . In this clever film noir , Eastwood is an outsider . He is not a detective , but a jewel thief who watchs something he never had to see .
This brutal murderer will reach the highest governement levels in which a very well planned chase will be made behind the traces of Eastwood .
A great script . Hackman is absolute convincing in the best role which he has represented more than any one else ; the immoral, corrupt , decadent and perverse villain .
Intelligent puzzle and artistic film prove once more than industry and craft may join .
One of the best films in his career .

The Incredibles (Widescreen 2-Disc Collector's Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
It's so easy but: this movie is quite incredible

At a time where a lot of comic book movies are coming out based on actual comic books, in comes the Incredibles to show the other filmmakers how it's done. Constantine was really disappointing, Elektra was funny but not in a good way and Daredevil just didn't feel right. In comes Brad Bird, well known for the vastly underrated Iron Giant, he comes and completely thrills while still having it nice enough for the kiddies.

Bob Parr was at the top of his game. He was formally known as Mr. Incredible whose special powers was incredible(ugh, I wanted to go through this review without using that word) strength. He also is married to Helen, or Elastigirl in the old days. However, in typical fashion, or probably in typical American fashion, Mr. Incredible is sued for people not wanting to be saved or from suffering injuries. So in the end, all the supers are sued and are forced into hiding, masquerading as regular people.

Bob, 15 years since his glory days, is now a claims worker for an insurance company while Helen is a housewife. He finds life rather mundane since he can't relive his glory days. In comes Mirage, a woman who would like to hire him and do some superhero stuff. He agrees, not telling his wife and does some superhero work with his wife none the wiser. However, he's tricked by his employer and stranded on the employer's island. So Helen and their 2 kids, Dash and Violet have to go in and help Dad.

One thing I like is that it is a kids movie with animation from a company that does kid movies but yet it's got more suspense and big action sequences then the last Spiderman. One scene, the "100 meter Dash" has Pixar calls it, is quite a scene to watch. Even the humor is there, while not being full of witty puns like previous films, it does have it's nice moments, like when Edna, a superhero costume maker regales Helen of the superheroes whose lives were cut short just because of a cape.

The voices are quite nice. Craig T. Nelson("Coach")has a way to be a calm presense one scene than start going off. And Holly Hunter's probably the coolest mom on screen although her explanations of why Dash can't go into sports seems a bit TOO overprotective. And Jason Lee, largely known for his roles in the Jay and Silent Bob films actually does a good job as villain Syndrome. Definite highlight is writer/director Brad Bird doing a nice job as Edna Mode, a nice little Edith Mead echo, a big costume designer from the old era.

There's one thing that I'm a little disappointed in and oddly it has nothing to do with the film. It's the extras. There's a cute little short that explains why the babysitter Kari was so frantic on the phone about baby Jack-Jack. It has really weak outtakes that just looks plain silly and nowhere near what they did for previous films. And the making of is nice but it's almost kind of superflous or surface skimming. They don't even go much into detail about the voice actors or the 100 meter dash in designing. But there is a nice feature on the Character Designs, the Extra characters, the Sets but they don't go into as much detail as you'd want them too like in the Bug's Life extras.

However, it is quite a film to watch and not a typical "I'm only watching this for the kids" movie, you'll probably find it awesome too.

See this movie

Most people don't have time to read anymore. Thus, cinematic reproductions of literature offer a fine alternative to audiences. Some movies are even better than the books they are based on. Critics will have a more difficult time supporting a mediocre review of a movie like Clean Slate(not the Dana Carvey movie) because they view the movie after they see it instead of before.

Family of Cops - movie DVD cover picture

This is the only "Family Of Cops" movie you really need. I wonder if the sequels were planned at this point, because the performances seem to have more juice here. The action scenes are pretty good, especially the one in the woods. Bronson's involved in a couple of shoot-outs, but they're practically identical to similar scenes in the other two movies. (-Notice in particular the shoot-out by his character's house; arms stretched out in trademark "Telefon" aiming position, shooting at a car.) Forget about the two uninvolving ones that followed, and stick with this one.

I don't know how the restoration has been achieved but when you know the negative dates from 1931 it's very hard to understand how it remains so clean. The DVD is an amazing print from a timeless movie that has surely not looked as good since it was first shown. Is this a case of digital enhancement? Now let's have the others: FOOTLIGHT PARADE, DAMES, GOLDDIGGERS of any old year. Fabulous!

A Must Have

if you are reading this you must be a MST3K fan. digital transfers of any episode from any season are worth owning. get yours now and you'll be kicking yourself later when you're shelling out twice the price on eBay.
i've enjoyed each volume to date and hope Rhino will release more new eps soon. the paperwork required to get an episode released must be a nightmare (rights issues is what prevents many of these shows from being released).
BTW: Mr. B Natural was not in episode 309, The Amazing Man; this short was shown in War of the Colossal Beast 319, the sequel to ACM.
*like the VHS release before it, The Atomic Brain 518 is missing the end stinger. for some reason it was distributed this way,; i'm still waiting for an explanation from Rhino about this problem...
further, this set will be the last release of any MST3K episode on VHS or DVD for the remainder of 2003.

An Economic Education in only six hours!

What a fantastically informative video series. For those who are hard core economists, this is probably baby stuff for you, but I think there is enough footage of current events around the world, (in Chile, Mexico, etc) that you might find it of interest. I think that this series is aimed at people like my husband and me - hardcore PBS and History Channel watchers who like to learn and are interested in economics, but don't have a deep economics background. This series is fresh and interesting with footage from current newsreels, interviews with world leaders and other area experts. The series also delves into the historical background of many ideas from 20th century economics (Von Hayek versus Keynes anyone?) in a fascinating, informative way. This is an educational video series, and I think that it is more beneficial for people such as myself, with a limited background in economics, but it is delivered in such an interesting and insightful fashion, linking current and recent events (and those from recent decades) of the political world with those of the economic world that it is a pleasure to watch. This will be a series that I will watch numerous times.
