One of My Favorites

I did not see this at the theater, but when I finally rented it I discovered that I had missed a good one. I knew I had to own it.

This is a story of overcoming obstacles, especially those of a woman in the military. Demi Moore triumphs and gives one of the best performances of her career. She truly becomes Jordan, a Navy SEAL trainee, from shaving her beautiful long hair to her one-handed push ups.

Viggo Mortensen as John Brgayle the Master Chief doesn't go easy on Jordan because she is a woman. If anything he pushes her harder than the men. This is fine with Jordan who doesn't want to be judged by a double standard. She wants to be treated like the men-"no better, no worse."

The movie is thought provoking. When a congress woman says America doesn't want its women put in harms way, Jordan asks are you saying "a woman's life is more valuable than a man's?" It also makes you think about what our enlisted men and women must endure.

The SEAL training is cut short and the group enters a real life hostile situation. Jordan has a chance to emerge as a leader.

The movie is not just for feminists. It is serious as well as being funny and has many action scenes.

I had noticed Viggo Mortensen in other roles before, but he stands out as the Master Chief. He has authority. This movie began my infactuation with him and secured his spot as my favorite actor. Any Viggo fan must own it!

Geek humor is really funny!!

Napoleon Dynamite is the best comedy to come out since Dumb and Dumber. Became one of my all time favorites after the first time I saw it, which is saying something because I wasn't expecting much from it at all.

Pocahontas (Disney Gold Classic Collection) - movie DVD cover picture
One of Disney's Boldest and Best Features

This movie has its high points (a couple of good songs, some beautiful animation) but these moments are too rare to make Pocahontas truly enjoyable. The moralizing is constant and oppressive--even for a Disney film! Most of the characters are uninteresting in the extreme, and the typical comic relief animals are more annoying than in most animated fare.
I'm sure the kids will enjoy Pocahontas, but adults will find themselves cringing, groaning or yawning.

Ocean's Eleven (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
11 out of 10!

Ocean's 11 just happens to be the best crime film in a long time. Not since films such as "The Sting" has a movie emulating common criminals come off as such a huge success story!
Starring an unbelievably talented cast (George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts are the big names) and directed by the sublime Steven Soderberg, Ocean's 11 is the third "classic" of the 21st century (the others being Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter & the Philosopher's Stone).
The film opens with Danny Ocean (Clooney) being released from jail for a crime we are given little information on. While behind bars, his wife, Tess (Roberts) has divorced him and hooked up with the villain of the story, Terry, who happens to own three Las Vegas casinos. So Danny sets about using his newly found freedom to rob Terry of both his money and his woman. To do this, he enlists the help of 11 eccentric master criminals, including a pickpocket (Damon), an electronics boff, an East Asian circus gymnast, an aging con artist with ulcers and a host of others.
The plan is to rob the central vault of the three casinos, which, in the words of Ocean, "is better protected than a nuclear missile silo." It contains over 160 million US dollars.
So do they get away with it? Far be it from me to spoil the ending of a film as good as this one. I'm afraid you'll have to watch it yourself...you won't be disappointed!

A Must See

I have seen all of the big releases of 2001, but Snatch is absolutely one of the funniest movies I have seen a long while. Guy Ritchie the director of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels has outdone himself this time. Brad Pitt is hilarious, and Jason Statham gives an award winning performance as the lead charachter Turkish. Its not a family movie, but I would absolutely recommend this movie to any of my friends or just fans of a good comedy. It was definitely a nice surprise.

ER - The Complete First Season - movie DVD cover picture
Not for everybody

This show is not intended to satisfy everybody. It is designed more for intellectual people, especially for those interested in Health Sciences. It is defenetely NOT designed for the average human who only wants to see blood, blasphemy, gore, violence and others as such, in order to escape the brutal reality in which we all live in. Before you put a comment in which you criticise the fact that they show so much death, sadness and "disfunctionality" you should stop a little to think about the society we live in; there are wars and traumas and human suffering everywhere and so often we come across a case in which someone was killed or commited suicide that we often become so tuned out and when a TV show like ER presents us the reality it bothers us..
Some reviews say that it is very unrealistic because there is too much work, there is too much suffering and too many problems in the doctors' lives. Well whether one accepts it or not, that is the real truth; first, doctors are all human beings and as every human being on this planet they are not perfect. Second, it is extremely hard to become a doctor in the first place. I spoke to med students: they sleep at most 4 hours per night and you have to learn an enormous amount of material each week. You don't become a doctor just for the sake of it, you become a doctor because you want to, because you want to dedicate your life to the people around you, especially in these times when there is so much chaos going on in every corner of this planet. I was told by doctors the same thing and this tv show puts it more clearly than anybody else: you can become a great doctor only if you want to sacrifice your life to the others, only if helping people is your deepest and strongest desire you have. And the fact that the lives of the doctors are so troubled, shows even more what i've just said: in order to achieve this goal you have to put aside your personal life when you are in the hospital and this creates big problems in one's personal life.
This tv show is dedicated to the doctors and their efforts they put in order to save our lives. The characters are great and every one plays a very realistic role. Note that there are a lot of medical terms involved, since this is what happens in a real hospital; you don't hear "Put this stuff into this guy's vein, and then crack his chest open 'cause you have to apply some drugs directly ito his heart..", that would be very silly and it would very much degrade the high degree of realism this tv series offers us. Welcome to the world of medicine folks!
I highly recommend this tv series (every season actually) to everybody interested in seeing what is going on in a real emergency hospital. If you are interested in working as a doctor or a nurse in such an emergency hospital and wonder what degree of stress you would face each day, ER is the best place to start looking for answers. It might even make you even more interested in becoming a doctor! Again, this is the best TV series of this kind out there.

Amazing, touching, unforgettable!

This video will be one of the most touching musical performances you will ever see. It is amainzing watching all the popular performers pay their respects to the most wonderful singer/showman of our time, Freddie Mercury. It really shows how much the world lost when it lost Freddie. It is nice to see so many people and performers come together to say goodbye to Freddie and support the fight against AIDS. It was truely an unforgettable day.

Fantastic!

This is one of the first & best videos we have ever bought. My kids & their friends (ages 3-5) continue to ask to watch it. It tells about careers that kids in Miss Honey's kindergarten class can have when they grow up with little stories about what their relatives do for work.

Journey still Rockin'......

This is a spectacular set worthy of the Journey name. All of the hits and the new songs from Arrival all done louder and in some cases better than ever. Steve Augeri knows his voice and how it fits in a song regardless if its old or new and he shows it staying strong through out not pushing and sounding great even better IMHO than the "Greatest Hits Live" CD released with Perry on vocals. Buy this DVD if you are even a casual Journey fan its money well spent to hear a band doing it this good after many years.

Great movie!

This is one of the best children's movies I have ever seen. I was obsessed with the care bears when I was younger (wallpaper, stuffed bears...everything). Now that they have come back, I couldn't help but fall in love with them all over again. I even asked for the DVD for Christmas ....The movie itself is very cute. It has all the great characters and even their cousins. It makes you just feel warm and happy (like Disneyland). Definitely a great movie for kids, young and old!
