OK, this thing keeps prompting me for a

I have this to say about Bend of the River. Julie Adams is THE most beautiful woman that ever lived, next to Rock Hudson. I've been making Julie Adams Voodoo dolls for years but she still hasn't called. Anybody got a phone # or email address or fingernail clippings I'd appreciate it.
Back to the movie. Stewart and Mann, doesn't get much better than this. Especially when Jimmy showcases that trademark bi-polar streak that made their films so great. Arthur Kennedy is a real pain though. How'd that guy ever get into the movies anyway? Must be related to Joe. But, there's got to be somebody you hate-right? Well Arthur, I hate your guts. And I missed the end of Rancho Notorious, but I hope somebody shot you dead. So there. 5 lbs of jerky.

Frighteningly convincing...

Call me a fool, but I beleive it all. Its hard to argue with all the information in this book. I have also noticed that most of the time, these ratings are either fives or ones. I agree with the fives more than the ones but it seems to me that the ones are mostly the people that believe strongly in their religion. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT! The rest of the ones, however, are mostly those who are afraid because they DO believe all of it. There is no need to be afraid. It may be a scary concept, but it is one we may have to face in the very near future...

let's get some perspective, folks!

Rush continues to be a vital creative force nearly 30 years into their existence. They are truly at the top of their game on this DVD and it captured well what a rush concert experience is. I've seen them over 15 times live and what few reviewers seem to remember here is that the sound of their music in concert is overwhelming! Add a frenzied crowd to that, and you have a lot of sound to deal with in a live mix. Watching this DVD on a big-screen and listening to it on a 5.1 sound system, I find it to be an incredibly satisfying experience. After the opening Tom Sawyer, the crowd settles down a bit and as the evening progresses, the music comes to the forefront. This phonomenon was no different from the three eveninigs I was privelidged to catch the Vapor Trails tour here in the US! My sound system was balanced using the AVIA program and I have not made any adjustments to audio levels. Drums, bass, guitar, and vocals are equally present in the mix, the way a good one should be! On the video end of things, if you stop focusing on the fast edits, the concert's a much more enjoyable experience (actually, the edits are well-synced with the pace of the songs). The documentary is excellent and really presents the band in situations many of us thought we would never be privy to. Hat's off to A.M. for a job well done! Many people seem to be wishing for everything this dvd is not. This viewer thanks the band for everything it is! May you buy it and treasure it!

That is the version Chris Marker wanted used

I had first heard of La Jet?e way back in college from a buddy in film school. When he asked if I had seen it, I thought he said "le j'etais." I used to be it? I asked. He kind of freaked out (in the style of film students) at the realization of the cleverness of the dual meaning of the title. This the kind of subtlety that's lost when a film is dubbed. While I can understand a studio's decision to dub a film that may achieve a wider audience if the soundtrack is in English (i.e. Life is Beautiful, Jackie Chan's Hong Kong films) I am puzzled by the release of this film in a dubbed version only. It is not as if this film will ever have a wide following and the DVD format is such that the inclusion of the original naration would not fit on the disk.If you really want to see La Jet?e and refuse to see it in it's original French, rent 12 Monkeys (a fine film) in 4:3 instead; you'll be happier.

experience the horror and realism of war.

They were sent in to arrest two generals. It was planned to spend an hour there. They spent a long night there.

Ridley Scoot did an excellent job wih "BHD" and it is one of the best done war films ever. Josh Hartnett delivers and excellent performance that will keep your heart racing.
Even if you thought war was cool after brave-heart or saving private ryan... you WILL NOT after this film. The conent is extremely bad and it is so volent that it makes "saving private ryan" and "braveheart" look like childrens' movies.
"BHD" is one of the best war movies ever and definetly the most realistic. I would have at least nominated this movie for best picture at the academy awards. If you are a teenage girl that likes josh hartnett and wanna see his movies... do not watch this. They show men torn in half and squirting blood realisticly scene after scene. You can experience the horrors and realism of war by watching this movie. "BHD" is a wonderfull movie that i would recommend to many people, but be prepared for a blood-bath, and you may even close your eyes.
I hope my review was helpful to you.

A masterful tale that truly chills the viewer to the bone.

This is one of my favorite films( which says a lot considering that I have seen almost every movie made)! It is rare that a film can flesh out real characters and take us somewhere we don not want to go. Two lovers on a road trip. At a gas station she disappears. Her lover becomes obsessed with what has happened and he spends years and falls into financial ruin searching ...searching. One day, years after she has disappeared he appears on television as a followup news program begging one last time to know what happened to his lover. He informs everyone that if someone knows what became of the woman please contact him. Even in secrecy because not knowing what happened to her is driving him insane. The killer and the young man meet and the killer puts a sedative in the coffee and asks the man to drink. Drink and you shall know exactly what the girl felt. The ending is truly shocking. Sadly the inferior American version with Jeff Bridges and Keifer Sutherland trashes this masterpiece because American audiences want a happy ending. I am sure most reviewers will not remember this version so watch the original version that is subtitled. I cannot believe that the same director helmed both pictures.

THis movie picks you up off your couch and takes to a place you have never been to before! I think it is a shame they are not publishing it anymore. My copy is so worn out I needed to replace it! It takes you to a forbidden place most people don't talk about but have always been curious. John Hurt, Joanne Walley Kilmer and Bridgette Fonda were spectacular!

The Polar Express (Single-Disc Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

I have to say I loved this movie as much as I did the book when I was young. This is a simple heartwarming story about Christmas spirit and believing in Santa. Please take this movie at face value and you will enjoy it much more. As far as santa looking like a prophet...he is simply "designed" to look like the actor who does his voice, nothing more.
My 2 1/2 year old loved this story and was particularly fond of the train animation and the great music. I for one ADORED the mix of both OLD and NEW christmas songs. We could not have asked for a better Christmas time movie!
