Divine Intervention - movie DVD cover picture

A comic tragic love story set in the midst of long term occupation of Palestine...with the beautiful dead-pan of protagonist/director Elia Suleiman. A film that integrates into one's neurons and gut, makes one laugh out loud and sigh with
despair...nearly all at the same time! I've watched this film so many times, never tiring of its "under your skin" connection even at the most absurd moments. I began watching it with a Western analytical approach but soon learned that this story MUST be appreciated slowly from the heart and then seeps into all the pours and cells to a clarity that only a "parable" could deliver. A superb soundtrack!

Better than the first X-men

I had heard that the second X-men movie was not as good as the first, but I just finished watching it and I thought it rocked! Not only did I really enjoy it, but I thought it was better than the first X-men movie. You won't be dissappointed!

The BEST Sesame street video out there.

I really don't understand the negative reviews. This is a GREAT video, my daughter absolutely LOVES it. It has the best segments from the past, plus a great storyline in between with fantastic new songs. My husband and I also love to watch this one the most. Yes some songs are abbreviated into medleys but a lot of them are in their entirety. Highly highly recommended.

Penny Serenade - movie DVD cover picture

I've loved this movie since I was a kid (No, not when it came out...33). Irene Dunne and Cary Grant were flawless together. I bought the DVD put out by Platinum Disc Corp. The picture quality is pretty ... good (especially for [$$$]), but BEWARE...there is no running time listed. ... I just got the Catcom DVD(n/a from Amazon) which has that part, but the pic quality is lousy. Also, unless it's a typo, it may be missing about ...min. from somewhere else, because on the back it says ... minutes. Somehow, somewhere I need to get the perfect copy. ...

Hearts in Ice is the BEST!

This movie is the best! I loved it, it had every scout except Saturn...& I finally saw mini-moon transform and the outter scouts,..but Mini-moon doesn't do any attacks in this movie. Also Luna gets to be a human for one night because she loves an astronaut sooo much. If I were you I would buy this movie if you are a *TRUE* Sailor Moon fan.

The Best of Abbott & Costello - Volume 1 (8 Film Collection) - movie DVD cover picture
A nostolgic treat...

As an Abbott & Costello fan for 57 years, dating back to BUCK PRIVATES COME HOME, I have been waiting for years for such an extraordinary collection of their films. I hope that Universal/MCA's visionary packaging of 8 films on two discs at such a bargain price will encourage other studios to do the same. I truly believe there is a far greater market for the older films and classics than most companies realize and this release should prove it. DVD remastering is exemplary; I felt as though I were back in the theatre at the time of original release watching a luminous 35mm print. Keep 'Em Flying, MCA. 5-14-04: I have reviewed these discs again fully and found no problems with either Buck Privates or Hold That Ghost, as several others have claimed. Not all DVD players are equal; I have a Sony SLV-D300P, the combo DVD/Video player. I also have a Panasonic, which has given me some problems with DVDs and CD-Rs, but I haven't tested this set on that machine. So it seems that the discs are mastered extremely well, it's just up to the great variety of players on the market today. See my review for A&C, Volume 2, also.

Good movie but...

I'm waiting for the DVD edition before I buy it.
Sure I'm a Star Wars Fan. But why would I buy anything on VHS these days? I'd rather wait the 3 or 4 years and get it on DVD.

On Any Sunday - movie DVD cover picture
On Any Sunday

On Any Sunday is, simply put, one of the best sports documentaries ever produced. It was one of the first movies I saw as I kid, and since then I have watched it whenver I can. Affectionate and witty, OAS gives a clear overview of the sport of motorcycle racing, showing the both its beauty and its brutality. We see motocross, speedway, dirt bikes, desert racing, superbikes, ice racing, hill climbing and trials riding, plus a few things I probably forgot.
Of course, the film was shot about 30 years ago (it can't be that long!) so it only shows the sport as it existed in 1970 or so, but as snapshot of a time and a group of people, it is nothing less than brilliant.
When I saw it was out on DVD I pounced immediately. The only quibbles I have are with the opening titles (cheesy 80's-vintage video) and the sound. The narrator's voice only comes out of the left speaker. Still, considering that this was not produced in dolby surround sound, it's a very minor complaint.
