Not what you'd expect...much, much better!

When this movie was in the theaters, I wrote it off as a stupid, testosterone-driven buddy movie. I figured at the end, Pitt and Norton would square off in a trite, Hollywood ending.
After I finally rented it (and then immediately purchased it), I realized how badly I had misjudged this movie.
First off--yes, it is violent in spots. But even if that stuff bothers you, I urge you to see it anyway. Without divulging too much of the plot, Fight Club is really more psychological than anything else. You actually need to see it more than once to appreciate the dialogue, the philosophies of the characters, and just how amazing and innovative some of the visual effects are.
Just to give you a little insight--The plot, minus its twists, is pretty straight forward: A Yuppie whose name is never spoken in the film(Norton) meets a rebel named Tyler Durden (Pitt) who uses fighting as a means of self-exploration. Tyler is opposed to how soft society has become, and rejects material possessions in search of something more.
Along the way, you'll be treated to some great one-liners, some twisted yet well-thought out philosophies, and some great acting by both Norton and Pitt.
Everyone I've leant the DVD tells me this is the most bizarre film they've ever seen, and they loved every minute of it. I think you'll feel the same.

The best $ i ever spent

If you're looking for a movie that has a complex plot that makes you think about the wonders of life and what you're doing in it then look elsewhere. If you're looking to watch a movie that will have you smiling the whole time and leave you feeling "frisky" then you've found the right spot.
It seems these days that Hollywood has mostly forgotten us 20 somethings as they push out films that are either "Teen Flicks" or epic stories that appeal to those who have mostly forgotten the bar scene. This movie, however, brings back some fun for those of us who know what it's like to search for that perfect bar while still trying to find our futures amid our "normal" lives. I truly didn't expect this movie to actually be that good when I went out to see it, but was thrilled to find myself wrong. They keep the story light and easy to follow which allows you to just sit there and enjoy the party. Throw in some beautiful people and a soundtrack that defines our "generation" and you get a movie that you just may need to see again.

The original 1837 production is superior to the later makeover, which I saw ib Thailand. The Thai audience laughed in the wrong places, such as when the Russian girl reverted to her true age on leaving Shangri-la. It is a good story. the Shangri-la hotel IN Singaporegave copies of the book to guests in 1970.

Upclose look at D-Day

This film is an honest portrayal of the D-Day landing and the extraordinary sacrifices made by by everyday men. Speilberg's filming technique on this movie, makes you feel like you were there (and glad you were not.) The depiction of the landing on Normandy Beach is one the most intense battle scenes I have ever seen.
Spielberg has not only paid a deserving tribute to the veterans of World War II, he has also produced an excellent anti-war film that shows the true horro of warfare. There was nothing romantic about going to war. I feel he captured what it was like to invade the beaches on June 6th.

I can'r believe it.......I am soooo happy about this DVD!!

I remember seeing this concert on Showtime every chance I got!! We didn't have a VCR then so I had to put it on an audio tape!! And I still have it!! Although personally I had a crush on the Bass player Mike Seifrit. And I was lucky enough to meet him 2 years later when rick played at "Alpine Valley" in East Troy, WI in September 1984, and then I also went to see him in New york at Radio City Music Hall later that month, and he remembered me!! I sure hope this dvd comes out before 2010!!!

I Sit Stupifyed

You know a band is good when they can go on stage and come out with better versions of songs than the studio versions. That's exactly what Zeppelin does in The Song Remains the Same, and if you have any question of their talent, I urge you to watch the introduction of Since I've Been Loving You, in which they zoom in on Page's fingers during an incredible solo. Incredible. Then watch the 1/2 hour version of Dazed and Confused, including Page's bow trick which makes the most unbelievable sound come out of the guitar. Just watch the whole thing. You wont be sorry.

Drew Barrymore does an excellent job portraying "Cinderella" as a strong, determined woman who doesn't NEED a fairy godmother, (just a little help from da Vinci!) Angelica Huston is magnificient as the stepmother, extremely realistic and just a great job by all involved with the project.

For those of you who have seen Pearl Harbor...

...and you think NEGATIVE about the Japanese (which by now I think you'd be calling them by the offensive racial slur "Jap"), you should see THIS.
Now look here. If you think that the Japanese deserved to suffer, or you think that talk of it is overexaggeration, READ THIS.
Now that I have your attention (or maybe I don't, fine, be intolerable to society pushing and beating every "Jap" around, there, am I using terms that are tolerable with you), see this film if you can. Look on the other side of things. You can't always look on your side in huge detail and then look at the others in tiny one-sentence description saying it was nothing.
This is the best drama ever made, and also best war movie. Maybe even could win best picture if society didn't bash animation so much. But screw the academy. Just see this.
It comes to show, with just TWO people, in detail, living on their own. First, they go to their aunt for shelter, but then, she starts to be cruel around them, so they leave for their own hospitality. They find an abandoned bomb shelter, so they move there to live. The air raids are over. Japan surrendered. Now, it's another BIG problem; Post-war starvation. Even worse, one of them isn't getting enough food. Soon, she dies, and then the other one, the older brother, swears to never go back to shelter, and just wait until the day he dies.
Don't just leave and not see this movie, though. See it. Even for those who don't cry at movies, this will. It's the most powerful movie ever. It's equivalent to "Schindler's List", which I also reccomend.
Now, the rest of you people that I was talking about... if you're still not cured of your propaganda attitude, it's like you're saying that the Jews deserved what happened to them in "Schindler's List"
So, if you still aren't cured, leave the human race. We don't need any more propaganda from you.
Oh yeah, before you people leave us, I'll tell you I am one of those "Cold, heartless 'Japs'" you like to push around. Now you can leave.

Not your average children's DVD

My 13 month old LOVES this DVD. He started watching it around 9 months and is hooked (even though I try to limit it to several times a week). The music is so wonderful- it is fun to sing along and I don't get tired of this like some other videos.

There is a peek-a-boo part that makes him laugh and squeal. But, his favorite segment is one about BALLS! There is a wonderful song about balls and lots of different kids playing with balls. He loves it, and the DVD has a feature where you can select individual songs.

I highly recommend this DVD. I will say that we also have the Exploring the Beach Curious Buddies and my son is not nearly as interested.
