Not too frightening for anyone--it's amazingly wonderful.

The critics couldn't be more wrong about thismovie. It's an absolute delight. I have athree year old and he said, I love this movie. The special effects are fantastic. Babe is athis best. Very little Hoggett, it's mostly thewife and her mishaps. The ballroom scene isunforgettable. Why anyone thinks this movie isdark and scarey hasn't watched Babe 500 times likewe have--it's a natural progression. The endingis so wonderful you're sure to cry with happiness. This was Gene Siskel's #1 of l998. His last top choice. I agree.

Romantic Suspense

Hitchcock liked working with Cary Grant and James Stewart. Any of his movies that have either of these stars were exceptional and could be viewed by the whole family. These movies always dealt more with suspense than showing blood and gore. North By Northwest is one of the most suspenseful of his movies and it has a good romance story to boot. Cary Grant is magnificent playing the innocent bystander caught up in a grand scheme of espionage.

Eva Marie Saint is wonderful as the romantic interest that is a unknown factor. Is she a spy for the bad guys or is she on the side of justice? This movie also contained some wonderful scenery and sets. The Biplane and Mt. Rushmore scenes have some of his greatest camera work ever. The angles used are extremely effective in making you feel you are there. Bernard Herrman's beautiful haunting music adds to the suspense and helps to make this movie a classic Hitchcock.

Greatest Play of the Modern Age

Though this book is now 20 years old, it deals with some disturbing issues plaguing modern man. It may be even more relevant today than 20 years ago. Shawn's down to earth attitudes perfectly offset Gregory's ramblings, though his views are as valid as Shawn's. The evocative yet hard-nosed, direct dialog of the two characters is amazing, and will have you devouring it in one or two sittings, as it did me. If you like tough, yet thoughtful issues in your reading, get "My Dinner with Andre" pronto.

Viva Mexico Cabrones

Excellent movie, shows Mexican medium/high-class society way of thinking, humor and for the first time in Mexican cinema I believe the dialogues are truly realistic, its actually like a great joke all the movie but it has great reflections inside and you shouldn't take the end so seriously it is merely a critic joke about mexican macho men. Probably the Cuaron brothers were having fun watching people suffering while watching that scene.

A classic B movie

Director David N. Twothy (the Arrival) has undoubtedly surpassed my wildest expectations with this devilishly clever and well polished Science Fiction thriller that resonates with immensely amusing dialogue, sparkles with highly believable characters, reverberates with noteworthy performances from Radha Mitchell (Fry), Cole Hauser (Johns), and the incomparable Van Disel in a star making performance as the irrepressible career criminal Riddick, and ingeniously experiments and rearranges classic SCI/FI formulas and conventions ranging from Alien, Aliens, Terminator, and Star Trek with subtle filmmaking rarities like plot and character development to conceive a Sci-Fi epic that has volatile mix of sophisticated horror, highly modulated thrills and chills, and a uniquely human dimension that is sorely lacking in its peers.
Pitch Black is much deserved respite from the average Sci-Fi onslaught of just recycled story pictures, monster slasher flicks, inane clones and formula hybrids, and technology driven effects pictures with essentially nothing more to provide than it's sophisticated effects. Though Pitch Black contains it's lion share of new age special effects and sounds, Pitch Black instead uses the wildly advanced film-making faculties as icing on top of a well defined story rather than the other way around.
Thankfully, Pitch Black comes packaged with an entire brigade of options ranging from a David N. Twothy commentary track, a making-of Documentary, theatrical trailers, a three-extra minute exclusive un-rated version of the film, a marketing video on the selling of Pitch Black, and more. A Must-Buy for any fan of superior science fiction.
P.S. Certainly has the most charismatic villain since the Terminator.

Awesome movie

I loved this movie! the plot is great and the computer effects are cool. this movie is, although purely fiction, is cool because you get a sense of being in an age that not many people understand. chrysilabye is right about the technology being a little older, well duh, this movie was made in 1995, of course it's older. but you have to keep an open mind for it, just like any movie. As for the acting, great job everyone. I'd reccomend this movie to any computer savvy person, or just someone who wans to watch a good movie.

DVD is where "The Wizard of Oz" belongs!

I'm ashamed to say just how many versions of TWOO I have. Let's see.... Beta (2), VHS (3), LD (1), DVD (now 2). This film classic has been a part of my life since first seeing it in the 1950s. I've watched it many, many times, and never cease to be amazed by the beauty of the story. This newest edition of the classic contains musch to make it a "must have". I found the documentary by Angela Lansbury, the outtakes, interviews, and audio tracks to be well worth the cost. In addition the color transfer is first-rate, better than any other of my editions.

I can't say enough good things about this movie!

One of the best parts of this DVD is the comentary. Five years in the making, with Rockwell thinking through his part, Turturro working with a broken toe and unable to swim but doing his dive anyway. Just adds to the wonder of it! Turturro and Rockwell are the perfect foils for each other. And the characters are so weird but so real! Check out Sam Rockwell's Lawn Dogs DVD as well. Another engaging performance!

Emma Thompson has done a wonderful job of making Jane Austen's novel into a screenplay. And her performance was awesome too. Kate Winslet once again prove that she's one talented actress. Love this movie!

The biggest suspence show

Before I watched 24, I was attached to CSI and Comedy central. But, when I bought the 24 Season 1 DVD ( I found out through many differant friends that this was an amazing show), I was then attached to CSI, Comedy Central AND 24. Out of every single show on the air right now (out of every show that was EVER on the air), this is the most suspensful show of them all. From the pilot, where you're introduced to CTU Agent Jack Bauer and Senator David Palmer, you're attached. At the end of episode, there is some enormous event that leaves you hanging. The action is never ending and the suspense is so big that you'll want to watch the show in one day. This show is most definatly a must buy. I would fill you in on the plot, but you'll have to find it out for yourself, because I'll probably end of revealing one the many, many plot twists.
