intriguing classic tale of betrayal, injustice, and revenge

A man named Dantes is about to be married to the woman he loves. Only one problem: his best friend loves her too. Solution? Evil best friend gets Dantes put away in a prison fortress for a long time off on some remote and desolate island. A Verrrry long indefinate sentence. Dantes miraculously eventually escapes after 13 years to find--yup, you guessed it--his beloved is married to best friend. Understandably, Dantes is enraged and is out for blood. This is a classic and intricately plotted tale, brilliantly re-created in this film. The sword fight sequence near the end is so spectacular and realistic too!

When I first heard about this film I thought it was going to be a Donna Mills type weepy. But this was superbly acted, especially by Judd, and excellently written and directed. It turned an average tvmovie story and turned it into an absolutely gripping film. Judd is excellent as Libbs Parsons and by the looks of this she is set to be as big as old Julia. In short this is an exciting thrill ride. Highly reccomended.

Excellent document of a short lived lineup.

For anyone who unfortunately missed the last tour, this is a must see, with the added benefit of having Rick Wakeman in the group. While at times the group (especially Wakeman) seem to be on autopilot, the performance never lacks the energy and clarity you would expect of a Yes performance. The only drawbacks to this DVD are the occasional intrusive graphics and some amateurish camera shots. It's obvious the band was not seriously condidering a video release at the time, hence the limited angles, but this was definitly worth it. I was pleased with the full 150 minute running time. Any classic Yes fan must have this one!

Terminator 2: Judgment Day - movie DVD cover picture
At last, a sequel better then the original

Terminator 2 probably ranks, in my opinion, as the best action movie ever made. The story, if you don't know it, is as follows: Humans create a superpowerful computer that mostly destroys the world, and to crush the remaining resistance, send a machine back in time to destroy the human's leader, John Connor. The resistance sends a warrior back as well, to save him. In the first Terminator, Ah-nold (say it right!) was sent back the kill John's mother; in the 2nd one, Ah-nold goes back to protect John from an even nastier machine. That's how the plot starts at least, however rather then go through with it, halfway into the movie it takes an interesting twist and the three heroes (Ah-nold, Linda Hamilton as John's Mother, and John himself) end up trying to prevent the computer from ever being built. Naturally this leads to an ugly time-travel paradox mess that I won't even try to sort out, but you don't have to get into the particulars to enjoy the movie. The acting is quite good; this is really the only role that Ah-nold can play really well, because the machine is emotionless, and his is good at it. Hamilton gets a trifle annoying in one scene, and in a few others is just, well, crazy, but other then that she is also fine for the role. Lastly, Edward Furlong is excellent as John Connor, ten years old at this time, and not growing up in the best of environments. Watching the relationship between the boy and the machine really sets this movie apart, and leads to a surprisingly moving conclusion. And naturally, the real part of an action movie, the special effects and action scenes. The effects are astounding. Even today, ten years after the movie was made, they still look incredible. The highlight is the enemy terminator changing its form, and it seems doubtful that it could ever get more real looking. The action itself is also great, ranging from obligatory car chases to Ah-nold and the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) beating each other up. Every scene ties together well, and action and story shift together seamlessly. Finally, a word must be said about the music: it is incredible. Composer Brad Fidel created a perfect score for the movie; at times the music sounds totally techno-machine like, for other scenes, notably the journey into the desert, it could almost lull you to sleep. (It sounds bad for an action movie, but it's actually not) The only bad part of T2, as noted, are the whole twisty time travel dealings and the fact the Hamiltons character gets somewhat annoying once or twice. That aside though, T2 is a superb action movie, blending excellent special effects and action with an interesting and involving plot. And of course, everyone loves Ah-nold.

great fun

This dvd is great fun for my 2 year old twins. They absolutely LOVE the little stories that are in the middle of each episode. They like to imitate boohbah as they do their "exercises". They also name off the colors of each boohbah as they appear. As far as adults watching it, I wouldn't say they are 'nails down a chalkboard' but it is definitly geared towards children only.
