Not so Happy

While this movie is not for everyone, especially if you are easlily offended. It narrates the stories of un-simpathetic characters that are, sadly, people who populate our society and we can't ignore that they do exist. Beside the provocative subject matter, this is extremely well acted, written and directed. Dylan Baker and Phillip Seymour Hoffman are stand-outs in a particularly great cast. Jon Lovitz and Molly Shannon appear in cameos. Todd Solondz is a modern-day Robert Altman, but deals with darker characters. He deffinetely has talent, if only he would make a movie that audiences could relate easier. Don't get me wrong, this is a great movie and one of the best of 1998. Worth a look. From a scale of 1-10 I give this movie an 8!

Rediscover a forgotten piece of American history

In all of American history you will be hard-pressed to find a culture that is as colorful or as mysterious as that of the Cajun people. It would be an even more difficult task to find a film that captures that culture in such vivid detail.
With a brilliant mix of comedy, drama, mystery and romance, this movie deserves to take its place among the classics. Armand Assante gives a commanding performance in the title role, assuring that Belizaire will be remembered as a permanent and endearing character in American folklore.

No one will lose their faith in God by watching this film

Their belief in organised religion and political organisations might be shaken though...
Most people have already seen this film probably, but this DVD contains the four scenes deleted the day before the premiere. They are viciously funny, but had to be cut since they broke the rythm of the story.
The main reason to watch this film is that it is very funny. This is Python at their peak. It is not a collection of skits like The Holy Grail, it is a real film with a clever and tight story. Beautifully directed by Jones and Gilliam, and again reaffirming the acting genius of Graham Chapman, who is probably sharing a joke or two with Jesus in heaven as of now.
The Pythons have admitted that they set out to write a parody of Jesus, but when they studied the bible they saw to their surprise that his teachings made sense! Let me state this: THE PYTHONS ADMIT TO ACTUALLY RESPECT AND ADMIRE JESUS. They then wondered what to do; they then understood that the problem with christianity is not Jesus - it's organised religion! Leaders who interpret Jesus's teachings to fit their own beliefs and needs, and then demand that we, the rest, make them our needs and beliefs.
It is mainly in the US the film has caused a controversy: other countries where the competition between churches is less and the need to control the "flock" is less urgent the film is not seen as as dangerous.
Not content with attacking organised religion they actually deliver an even more scathing attack on political extremists - something which tends to be forgotten in the hue-and-cry over the alleged heresy of the film.
The essence of the film is that we should just get on with our lives, don't let anyone manipulate us, or get swept up in hysterical mass-movements. Brian learns it the hard way when he in the end becomes a "symbol" - not a human anymore - and he is more valuable dead than alive to the movement he, unwillingly, created.
In a funny twist to the film the Roman occupiers come out as quite sympathetic charatcers - after all, they represent an authority governed by reason and law, not by whim and charisma.

Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

Well, T3 is by far the best Action/Sci-fi movie of 2003. I think T3 couldn't get any better than what it had of plot and casting crews. I just watched T3 in one of Kuwait's biggest cinemas and in the last eight hours I couldn't take off the image from my mind of the movie and the message its trying to deliver to the viewers. I read many reviews that critisized T3 and said it failed and wasn't as good as T1 and T2, well i think there's something wrong in those people's minds, they think that T3 could get better in plot and directing and acting, i think not, ya'll go and judge yourselves and see what's wrong with your mental brain. T3 has more action sequences than T1 and T2 but what the weak point was John Conner (The guy who played Conner in the movie) was somehow weak in acting performance. Arnold is my best actor in years and in all Terminators he delivered the message very easily to the viewers mind but his performance in T3 wasn't the same as in T1 and T2 (Age played a role) his accent wasn't that scary as in T1 and T2. Arnold failed in many of his recent releases of the late 1990's mostly the ones after the year 1996 movies such as: Jingle All the Way, Batman & Robin, End of Days, and The 6th Day. In those 5 movies, Arnold [ ] with his role and plot of the movies wasn't that good or strong as T3 and his previous movies in his Golden years in the early 1990's and in 1980's. Well, Eraser wasn't that bad was it? it was lacking a bit of storylines to make it a top notch. Collateral Damage was amazing after he failed in his last 5 to 6 movies and Collateral Damage brought him back to the years of action that he was known in. In T3 he gave himself a Golden Oscar whether Holywood or Movie Critics liked it or not. Arnold returned to his golden years when he performed in T1 and T2. This movie is by all means one of the best movies in 2003 and I bet who said it could be any better if they added this and that to direct or produce that movie by himself? Contained Lots of Action no other movie had, even The Matrix Reloaded couldn't get near it. I appreciate The Matrix Reloaded, but sorry baby Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines grinds 'em all. I Will buy it on DVD when it get released i couldn't wait to watch it again and again. By the way, The terminatrix played a good role in the movie but she was a hot chick with bad attitude i think so. GO ARNOLD YOU ROCK, ARNOLD FOR THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA, Yeah BABY...UPS: Everything, specially the Stylish Lexus SC430 car in the begining..DOWNS: ;o( The Good Terminator(Arnold) Dies at the end in the Movie ;o(

Underrated by Critics

Critics who were just trying to kill Slater's career as they do with many actors, actresses and directors rated this a horrible movie. But this movie is so hilarious. The drugged coffee? "I like my coffee cold." The chief's car. The part when Slater answered his front door with a gun pointed at whoever was standing behind and that guy who threw his arms up and fainted! "Why are we doing all this running? Aren't we all going to be in cars?!" And Milla is the definition of sexy.

Waiting for the DVD

No 2001, but Colossus manages to be an always intriguing, if not original take on the "technology changes the world"/"computer takes countrol" genres. The characters aren't especially sympathetic, and the 70s tech-design isn't as nifty as it should be, but I was never bored.
Worth a viewing (they seem to show it occasionally on those "classic movies" tv channels) if you're anybody, and a purchase if you're one of those people with a fetish for old sci-fi/tech thriller movies.

Alias is AMAZING!!!

When I first started watching alias I was expecting it to be fun to watch but just like all the other shows out there that have to do with the CIA. Well, I was VERY wrong at that. Everyone in this series are superb actors and not once do you think to yourself (Well that wasn't very believable). You'll love the great acting and wonderful story line of this series. All I can say is.. BUY IT!!

One Awesome Movie.

This Movie is AWESOME.I first saw this at the comic-con in san diego back in august 2002.Bob Gale was there an even though it wasnt in a theatre it was one of the best movie experiences ive had in along time. The movie has alot going for it too.Its a road adventure movie.Every town has a theme and the main charater neil oliver is someone i think alot of people can relate too.Gary Oldman gives one of his best performances EVER,and thats saying alot from a master actor. The story for the movies simple, neil wants to be an artist, his dad wants him to be a lawyer. He meets gary oldman in a restraunt while celebrating his b-day {gary oldmans a wish granter named O.W.Grant} and grants neil his wish. This leads him to I60 which takes him on many adventures to different towns and ontop of that he's delievering a package and chasing the girl of his dreams. All and all I60 is one of the best movies ive seen in along time.Bob Gale and the rest of the world got screwed because they didnt realease this movie world wide. It's certainly a movie that deserves it.

"Give yourself over to absolute pleasure"

As the title (of my review) suggests, this film is "absolute pleasure" Starting with nothing but lips, then moving to a wedding, some crazy songs and dances...and a PRE Bat Out of ... Meat Loaf makes a brief appearance. If you haven't seen this movie then you haven't experienced nothing yet! Of course this film has been giving pleasure for 25 years! In some parts of the world (even in the states) it is still in the theaters...that means it probably holds record for time on buy it...or Magenta will use the Medusa on you.
