Not just another n-bomb movie

I have watched this movie every time it comes on television. This is not just another n-bomb movie--this can be what a real explosion, or several explosions, is like. I worked at Civil Defense when this was aired. You would not believe the number of paniced citizens that called the next day! You can look at this movie from several directions--as a passive viewer just watching a movie about a bomb; as a viewer who loves disaster type films; or in my case, as a person who not only loves disaster type films, but also who knows that real film footage was used in this movie from the U.S. Army who were conducting tests in the 40's and 50's on then atomic bombs to see what would happen in the case of upper level explosions, ground explosions, and sub-ground explosions. If you like this movie, then watch the British version called "Threads". Hopefully, some day, they'll also put "Threads" on video or DVD. They're both very well written and researched.

Queer as Folk - The Complete Third Season (Showtime) - movie DVD cover picture
QUEER AS FOLK Season 3 another great season with some twists

QUEER AS FOLK is still one of the most amazing TV Shows ever and is a landmark as the show for the new millennium. This New Queer As Folk Season 3 DVD Box Set has all 14 episodes of the third season of one of the most controversial and bravest series on television today. The BOX SET includes Bonus features such as: Behind-the-camera, Hot Summer Days, Wrap Party Reel, Enter Babylon LA, Meet the Folks, Animated Photo Gallery, Season Four Sneak Preview, Weblink, Music Videos, and a few other surprises. I have seen all 14 episodes of Season 3 and it is another great season with some major twists. I am a little upset that this season is very short when compared to season 1 and 2, which both had about 7 or 8 more episodes, but either way it is still a good season. I am still amazed at how honest this show is on dealing with gay life. Not every gay person lives a life like these guys, and I sure don't but that?s not what this show is about. Queer As Folk ia about the life of a group of gay guys and a lesbian couple living in Pittsburgh. Queer As Folk makes no apologies and thats what is so great about this series. From the graphic sex scenes to the drama of dealing with the prejudice that still haunts America, this show is so brave and I give Showtime a big thumbs up for having the balls to take on such a big risk as Queer As Folk. This show is as close as it gets to real life. This is not a show just for gay people, but for ALL people. It deals with human emotion and thats something that we can all relate to whether we be straight, gay, bisexual, black, white, brown or in between. I encourage anyone who has a open mind and a open heart to BUY this amazing DVD collection as it will inspire you and if nothing else open your mind to a lifestyle not as uncommon as you may think. Watch more than one episode before you judge this amazing series. I would just like to say Queer As Folk Season 1 and 2 are also great to own. I will be in line when they release Season 3 of Queer As Folk on DVD in February 2004.

Up in Smoke - movie DVD cover picture
best stoner movie ever!

Campy trip back to the smoky 70s. Definitely DATED, this film has "High Times" written all over it. These guys have not much more than "pot" on their brain. All jokes lead to the same subject...dope, man!
Cheech and Chong had already enjoyed celebrity as novelty song artists with several best-selling albums to their credit. This effort of "Smokin' Dope - The Movie" takes their "message" to the next level. "Up In Smoke" gave them plenty of exposure and secured a solid fandom. 25 years later, though, the laughs drop drastically on the dime-bag-scale.
When I was still in high school (and I didn't give in to the smoking of anything, then or now), I may have enjoyed this sort of nonsense more. As a middle aged intellectual, I can offer only a few tired smirks. Give me Laurel & Hardy instead!**

I wish they would release this DVD

This is the most amazing storyline and wonderful enticing music that should cover most tastes from 2yrs old and up.I originally watched this on TV when it came out in 1971 (and not narrated by Ringo at that time) and fell in love.If there is a parent of a young child,or even a young adult for that matter, this is one of the very few MUST HAVE videos. It is a simple to understand and exceptionally entertaining film with wonderful music (Harry Nillson has always been great).Get a copy if you can.

The Woman in Black - movie DVD cover picture
Genuinely spine chilling

This is one of the creepiest, spookiest ghost stories ever filmed. Adapted from Susan Hill's book of the same title, the tale centres on a young lawyer sent to settle the estate of a deceased old lady. At the funeral, he sees what he thinks is another mourner, a woman dressed all in black. When he mentions this to others however, he gets a strange reaction and quickly realises all is not as it seems. Whenever this woman appears, so local legend says, a child will die. From then on, things become more and more tense as he becomes haunted by this mysterious woman.
This production uses no special effects or fancy sets and to be honest, I think it would have detracted from the film if they had been used. Instead, the viewer is left to concentrate purely on the story which becomes increasingly tense as it develops. There are several moments that will make you jump or send a shiver through you. Watch it alone with the lights off if you dare!

Great New DVD!

This new "Special Edition" Licence to Kill DVD is great. I love the music videos of Gladys Knight and Pattie LaBelle. The documentary (Behind Licence to Kill)is also great. Their are also many other areas that are excellent The movie itself is also very good, especially the Kenworth sequence and when Bond escapes the baddies by watersking.
