The Machinist - movie DVD cover picture
Not for "loosers"

The Machinist isn't for small kids, or adults with pre-schooler intellects, who don't know that "loser" has just one "o" in it, that "loser's life" needs an apostrophe to show ownership, or that "moses" and the titles of TV shows are proper nouns and should be capitalized.

It is not necessarily a movie about psychosis, either. It seemed to me to be about sleep deprivation, a good bringer-on of psychotic behavior and hallucinations for sure. It's about a sane man who has something everyone needs to have, for everybody else's sake, to separate us bipeds from the snakes in the grass. Trevor Reznik has something that's going out of style, I'm afraid. Hence the startling number of people who don't get it, or find themselves struggling to "read anything into" it, even among professional reviewers for fairly large city newspapers. The best rags all gave it an uncategorical A+, however. This movie is a stunner from start to finish.

I gave THE MACHINIST ten minutes on my living room wall clock, thinking it was going to be too depressing to endure. I didn't even notice the time sweeping by. Loved it! Christian Bale has a new fan here.

Ravishing and Inspiring

Certainly the most visually beautiful film I've ever seen. The Director's use of different color motifs for each version of the story was inspired. It also presented us with an intelligent meditation on honor and bravery, and above all, 'rightness,' that is sorely lacking in today's world. The love story was also quite moving. Makes most other movies seems like a waste of film. A masterpiece!

Don't mess with Baol

This is an anime you'll either love... or hate. Following the style of Guyver, a young man gains superhuman abilities due to a bio booster - in this case a parasite.
But BAOH, while low on plot, was quite enjoyable for me. The story is merely one section of an entire history not even discussed by the movie, which you could read in the manga. What did Dr. Kasuminome go into this field, what prompted him? Why did Ikuro become so attached to Sumire?
You're treated, in this video, a single snapshot of a potentially wonderful series. I recommend you watch it at least once... in my opinion its on par with the old 80's greats. Bubblegum Crisis, Guyver, Ranma, and Dirty Pair.

Tom Cruise's Best Performance

I just bought this dvd yesterday and it is very good. The second disc has the special features and the inside booklet details all of them. The best part is honestly the movie. There is no commercials on the disc - thank god it goes right to the movie menu just like master and commander. The movie is just brilliant. Ken Watanabe is amazing and Tom Cruise gives us just a brilliant performance. He pours his heart into this role and it shows. Right down to the expression in his eyes- the emotions of the story show and he shines. Not to mention the filming of this moving and the editing. It is just beautiful to watch- the views of the country are breathtaking. You would not be dissapointed in this one.

The Blair Witch Project - movie DVD cover picture

This movie was outstanding. It was truly original and the acting was great, especially since it was mostly improv. This is a movie that you either love or hate. The people that keep giving this one star don't know the hard work and genius that goes into making a film. This is one for ages. The choppy camera shots and the darkness, when you can hear but can't see, is truly horrifying. I'll be thinking about that movie for a while, especially the ending. Get ready to be scared!!! This movie does to the woods like Jaws did the the ocean!

i loved it

i thought AI was a truly great film. After reading/hearing awful reviews I was skeptical to say the least. However, the only complaints that I actually heard from people were that the film was "boring" and "too long". Kind of sh**ty complaints, eh?
The movie is totally captivating. Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law act amazingly, especially Haley. He manages to show off his brilliant acting skills throughout the duration of the movie- he is a robot who cannot comprehend why his "mother" doesn't love him... he cannot cry, he cannot stop loving.
The ending of the movie is bizarre, but it's also really good too.How people can say this is a family film I don't know... it's too heavy going for children (and apparently most stupid popcorn guzzling gun-toting Americans too)
Give the film a chance. If you don't like it, then fine. If you DO, then you will feel the same as I do. Don't just pass this one by.

Sex and the City - The Complete Second Season - movie DVD cover picture
The Second Season was great!

I really loved the second season of Sex and the City...we learn more about Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda, their storylines become a little more elaborate. This season blends the outrageousness with the truly relatable. This season has many memorable and hilarious moments... Miranda talking dirty in bed, Miranda faking orgasms with the eye doctor, Samantha's first relationship on the series, Miranda meeting Steve and Carrie uncovering the true Mr. Big that she only got a mere indication in the first season. Truthfully I like this season better than the first, but just a little. Actually I'll go as far as to say that this is my favorite season of Sex and the City! It's just great!

Some classic displays of athleticism, skill, and heart!

As a dabbler in mixed martial arts myself, I love getting the oppportunity to see different fighters try their skills in a one on one, (almost)anything goes environment. I've seen most of the early UFC's, but due the current cable ban, I'm unfamiliar with most of the more recent ones. This DVD is a great collection of some of the best fights of the more recent UFC's. Although not all of the fights are shown in their entirety, there are some classic moments. The Tito Ortiz vs. Guy Mezger rematch is great, if not for the utter domination Ortiz shows at the end, then for the confrontation between Ortiz and Mezger's trainer, Ken Shamrock after the bout. The Tito Ortiz vs. Frank Shamrock fight alone is worth 5 stars for the unbelievable action and skill displayed by these two. A definate must for anyone into martial arts, fighting, boxing, WHATEVER. Get this!
