Non-Stop Laughter

I loved this movie. It had me laughing from begining to end. Its one of those movies that you don't have to think about. You just sit back and enjoy. I love everything that Rob Schneider does and in my opinion this is his best movie yet. If you loved his earlier films, you''l defeinitely love this one.

Laugh till you cry with Cosby's timeless takes on life

If you have seen this one, you know how devestatingly hillarious it is. Bill Cosby takes the everyday occurrances of life and presents it in such a way that you cannot help but roar with laughter. There is something for everyone to relate to in his routine. It is as if he holds up a mirror which reflects both the light-hearted and the serious events in our lives, but with a filter that lets us see it in oh so humorous a way! From his animated depictions of "natural child birth" to the difficulties of a person who has overindulged at the bar, Cosby takes the events that are seemingly too intense to discuss publically and tells them in the full light of the stage. He unveils the truths in our lives by telling the tales of his life in quasi-fictional fashion. What makes this comedy routine stand out, is that it does not use profanity or vulgarity as a comedic tool, and yet it doubles you over with laughter.

A masterpiece to been seen by all generations

"The Thief of Baghdad" is a masterpiece and should be seen by the present and future generations. It is a movie complete and all its aspects. I was 10 when I first saw "The Thief of Baghdad" and since then I could never forget the moments of enchantment it brought to me everytime (more than 10 times)I went to the movies to see it on the big screen. It was and still is my fantasy favorite movie. In the Middle 60's I finally found a copy in 16mm at a distributor and had to rent a projector to show the film at home. Although the copy was in very bad conditions I could even so, be able to go back to the days of my childhood while enjoying this wondereful film. Recently I p?rchased a VHS copy at Amazon[.com] and virtually "obliged" my 18 year-old daughter to watch it. It was a prize to have the film with me at all times. The new edition in DVD is perfect and reveals all the splendor the film brings.

Winning score, story create a winner

In the often spotty category of direct-to-video sequels to its animated features, Disney has scored a winner this time around, in more ways than one: The movie is great fun, wonderful for kids, almost as good for adults, nicely animated, and those songs! Trust me: "An Ordinary Miracle" is one of the best ballads for a Disney movie in years, and the other numbers are similarly first-rate. (The "ordinary miracle," by the way, is when two people fall in love). Enjoy!

IT LOOKS OUTDATED!BAAAD QUALITY SPECIAL EFFECTS!

When I first heard that they were doing a special edition I thought to myself about time because most of the ST films special effects looked terribly outdated.I have always liked the storylines, even though the Next Generation ones were a bit too dramatical and far too serious they were excellent in thier own way.
The motion picture which holds good memories with me for a longtime,I thought would end up looking like Star Wars special edition. However it ended up looking the same and the additional footage is nothing much to brag about,I'd wish they used the money for those new scenes on the old ones to perfect them.
I feel cheated !The films opening scene with the Klingon ships are so evident of poor quality special effects it hurts my feelings, and the Spoks' chase into the V'ger also looks bad. What a waste but the marketing campain deserve to work with Richard Donner who also made his classic Superman DVD movie with just additonal scenes and digital sound did nothing to improve the image quality of the movie.

The Best American Film of the Year So Far!

A.I. is just that. So far it's the only film this year that I really want to see again. It's a pretty ambitious and risky film for a summer release, and that's GREAT. Spielberg (directing with the ghost of Kubrick right along side him)has fashioned a dazzling and challenging view of the future. I simply do not want to give anything away about this film, just go see it. I'm really amazed how dark the film is considering Spielberg's rep (perhaps the Kubrick influence). I love his post Schindler's List work. He's a more complex filmmaker who is finally allowing some pessimism into his viewpoint. The ideas presented in A.I. are quite provacative (the film definetly would have fit quite nicely into Kubrick's canon). The production design and effects work are nothing less than staggering, the man simply has the BEST people working for him. And little Haley Joel just became the front runner for Best Actor this year!!! As for the ending, WOW!! An amazing film, I really cant see anything this fall topping this.

another really funny movie

Okay I admit it between this , Saving Silverman , and Orange County i'm a big fan of Jack Blacks work. He's really funny. This movie is also really funny but it's got allot of heart also. Hal is a relatively shallow guy. He only dates really beautiful women. Well he meets Tony Robbins in an elevator and Tony hypnotizes Hal so he will only see the inner beauty of women and even really ugly women will seem beautiful to him. He meets Rosemarie who he sees as a knockout but she's really a 300 pound women and Mauricio his best friend notices that first thing. He goes on a search trying to find Tony and get the spell undone for Hal can see the real Rosemarie. Hal does see the real Rosemarie but he's still in love with her. This has a really sweet ending and it's a great date movie.

Great score!

This version of the Christmas classic is poignant and always brings a tear to my eye. The music is lovely - both moving and amusing - and makes the story even more touching. While I'm not a Mr. Magoo fan, Jim Backus is a very real Scrooge. It would be great to see this video made available again!

Fascinating parts were not explored deeply enough - Sequel?

I thought this movie was great, top notch. I will buy the DVD, and eagerly await the next episode. I've heard nothing about the next film, but with the way this one ended, they left it wide open for the story to continue.
You've by now heard all of the banter about the quality of the APE costumes and Markie Mark's acting (I liked both). I enjoyed some very different aspects to this movie and wish they would have explored them deeper:
I was amazed at the obvious racism between humans and apes, and the parallels to our society (references made to a welfare state bankrupting the government).
At one point the humans are reduced to serving the dinner at a household table attended by the ape society's best, General Thade, a distinguished senator and others. They are debating what needs to be done about the human uprising and what has went wrong in the past.
I would have loved to have seen this explored a little deeper and let us see how the ape society worked on different levels concerning how they interacted and felt about humans. One interesting scene has a darling three year old girl being taken as a pet by General Thade's neice.
The apes of this planet were descendants of the genetically selected space chimpanzees of the beginning, yet it would be fascinating to see how all of this come about (monkey evolution was referenced to in another part)
Then there was the sudden and intense interaction between the young human boy and Leo. The boy wanted to take a greater role, be aggressive and accomplish something and Leo kept sending him back to mundane tasks. When he did reach out, he failed, and yet I thought it would have been nice to see him taking a bigger role in the aftermath.
Other unexplored story threads were the interactions between Leo and the rest of the humans - it just didnt happen. They spoke a little bit, but the movie was so rushed there was just not enough time for them to develop any real characters.
Regardless, I loved the movie and enjoyed every minute of it. The over the top antics of General Thade that was criticized in an earlier review was simply a temper tantrum in action. These apes, as explained by the cameo of Charlton Heston, were better at violent and strong action than man, and this was a good example of it.
See it at the cinema, no matter how much you want to wait. This is one of those films that is incredible on the big screen. The sweeping view of the ape city was amazing, along with the Capt. Leo's massive attack on the apes.
Thanks, Tim Burton, for not making this movie too weird. You could have done it, and probably wanted too, but the money people kept you on track and in control.
