No complaints from me!

It seems that many are complaining about the DVD version. I saw the VHF, and concentrated on the story rather than screen flaws, and so like other Stewart films, I was delighted and entertained.

This is a 1950s movie, when Stewart was in his hay day, and the story (screenwriter Borden Chase wrote the screenplay from his own novel) was a superlative story of the Oregon country, including scenery around Mt. Hood and the Columbia River.

This is one of the series of eight films directed by Anthony Mann and starring the late Brig. General James Stewart, USAF, in his youth.

Rock Hudson played a youthful gambler from California, and Arthur Kennedy a former Kansas border raider and the leading bad guy, after acting as a Stewart supporter. Stewart was also a former border raider from Missouri who was trying to forget his past. Supporting players included a youthful Harry Morgan and some other rowdies I didn't immediately recognize.

This is one of the old-time "straight" Westerns that I grew up loving, with plenty of gun play, with good and bad guys easily recognized (but not necessarily by their hat color).

If you are a fan of those old-time Westerns, you'll probably love this one, which was filmed in Technicolor.

This was a real fun movie

The movie arrived yesterday. Watched it and fell in love with it.
It was great seeing Asian actors in non stereotyped roles. It was funny but the actors / actresses Singaporean accents sounded like they were speaking with a Hawaiian accent.
I found out about this movie inadvertently through [a website]. Can't even remember why I surfed through that site, but I am really glad that I did. This will be a movie that I will watch again and again when I need laughs and want to see a romantic comedy.
This movie took me "back to the time". It reminded me of the Asian nightclubs that we frequented back in San Francisco.
I could really relate to the characters as people that I grew up with in the Bay Area.

Excellent Version Of This Dickens Story

Excellent movie, even after more than 50 years it still makes us want to watch it again (and maybe again). Alistar Sim is superb, and a few other scenes and actors are worth mentioning.

The guy who plays Marley's ghost does a great (eerie) job in that scene, and the flash-back scene of Marley's deathbed is very well done with Alistar Sim being most believable. The lady playing Mrs. Dilber is absolutely great, the scene at the ragman's shop being delightfully decandent (the ragman's line "Come into the parlor...come into the parlor" is rich). And the guy playing the Ghost of Christmas Past is perfect. Tiny Tim here is the best I've seen ... being very sincere and naive and innocent. I am guessing the director should be given a lot of credit for this excellent quality, as all the actors seem to nail their parts down perfectly with there being very little if any over acting.

ASTONISHINGLY GORY AND INCREDIBLY FUNNY!! A MUST!!

This incredible film is easily one of, if not, the most wonderfully disgusting, incredibly violent and extremely nasty films ever made. It's a marvolous toungue in cheek (Literally!)film. Very funny, extremely well made and endlessly inventive. BEWARE the R rated version, its totally unwatchable. Get the unrated version and be prepared for unrelenting violence. Total fun!

Girls Will Be Girls - movie DVD cover picture
This is movie is a total "Drag" you will never forget!

What can I say about "Girls will be girls"? It is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. My friends and I continue to crack up each time we watch it, even my 17 year old niece couldn't stop laughing! Don't expect to see a "To Wong Foo" type movie about drag queens going to Hollywood, because these are guys playing women who are already there. The truth be told, there are no women in the entire movie. Even the extras and the photos of covers of magazines are all men. Yes it a bit raunchy and very campy, but it is a side splitting ride to the end. I wouldn't recommend children to watch, although it is a very colorful film. It is also a film that needs to be listened to, as it is full of one-liners and puns. Yes, even 'straight' people will get a kick out of this film. A very entertaining romp, even the audio commentary(DVD only) is fun to listen too. So pop the corn, pour the matini's and invite your 'girlfreinds' over for a night of gutbusting hilarity as Evie, Coco, and new roomie Varla, take Hollywood by storm, or at least, try to.

Ethereal and unbelievable ? and all true

There's no plot to this `movie,' and there are no characters, unless you count about 2 million migrating birds as characters. There ARE a few who become individuals, esp the goose with the piece of netting caught around his leg. It's mostly a documentary, but it's more than a documentary: it's sometimes a ballet, sometimes a tragedy, sometimes a travelogue, sometimes a geography lesson...Just the drama and the drive that overtakes these birds as spring and fall come once again to undertake a semi-annual jaunt that runs into the thousands of flying miles is enough to carry the movie and sustain viewers' interest. Did you know the Arctic tern flies from the North Pole to the South Pole each year? And then flies back again six months later? That's more than 12,000 miles each way, folks. There's occasional voice-over by a narrator with a French accent, and some balletic music as the birds do their ritual courtship dances, but mostly it's simply stunning photography of birds, birds, birds.Watch it. It's lovely and inspiring.

Spider-Man 2 (Widescreen Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
It's soooo Sam Raimi

Pleased with his directoral accomplishment of the first film and comfortable with his talents, Sam Raimi weaves this film together with a fluidic ease that comes across flawless to every single moviegoer that saw this. It's not perfect, of course, but still worthy of five stars and repeated viewings. It's been said over and over but the best thing about this movie is that it chooses to focus on Peter Parker rather than Spider-Man. The major theme is: What drives us to do the things we do and is it worth doing these things even if we suffer? Someone mentioned to me once that he found it ridiculus that Parker only seemed clumsy and unsure of himself when he was in street clothes and not in the Spider-Man suit. Actually, this is what is facinating about the character. His clumsiness is all in his head untill he puts on the mask....then he reafirms himself that he is more than just a geeky kid. Parker's problem is that he doesn't know how to carry that confidence with him throughout his ordinary life. This is what's so charming about the character. He's NOT a super-man. He's NOT perfect. He CAN'T save the world. But he's learning how to be a real person. Not just a superhero.

ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES I'VE EVER SEEN

"Dark City" was absolutely incredible. It got away from the flashy and showy science fiction movies of today, and really got back to the classic science fiction tales of suspense and wonder. The plot was very involving fast-paced. Definitely one of the best stories I've seen in a long time. The special effects were great, especially the parts where the Strangers were manipulating the city. I held my breath during the climax, completely in awe. This is a definite must-see for everyone.
