No Other Film Like It!

Ron Maxwell portrays the Civil War in a true perspective that has never really been done before. The issues in the film are not biased toward the north or south, but is shown though the eyes of both sides. This kind of equal treatment of both sides of a disagreement is going to be the next big way of telling a story, not the traditional "good guy" "bad guy" story structure that has prevailed since the time of Greek mythology. It is the only film I have seen that has portrayed God in an open honest way, not counting the prevailent use of God's name in vain. Gods and Generals has quickly become my favorite movie, and as a filmmaker myself there is no other film like it!

Excellent film. Very cool.

WILL SMITH plays Robert Dean, a D.C. Attorney who comes across an old college friend in a langerae store. Without knowing that his old buddy (Jason Lee) has a tape with the Phil Hammerslee murder on it, with (Lee) being chased by assassins trying to cover up the evidence, the taped is placed into Dean's bag without his knowledge. Now government agents are after Dean, with satelites tracking his every move. Now to reclaim his life, Dean must team up with his only ally, a wits-filled man named Brill (Gene Hackman), a man who used to work for Dean, that passed down evidence for him.
MY REVIEW:
"The Bruckheimer/Scott team always works with the critics and audiences alike. Their last film together, being the highly suspenseful CRIMSON TIDE, was also another spectacular film! This time around, WILL SMITH and GENE HACKMAN make a great team. JON VOIGHT (Pearl Harbor) and REGINA KING also have great performances. The story is awesome and well thought provoking! I totally recommend this action thriller for fans of well thought out, and well done movies! Like THE NEGOTIATOR, ENEMY OF THE STATE should be added to the great suspense films list! ALL THUMBS SHOULD BE UP FOR THIS MIND TWISTING THRILLER!"- MJV & the Movies.

All I could say is wow! that ruled! wow!... wow!...

saw this movie today, i must say it is like a B sci fi flick with a huge budget.
i'm not sure where all the philosophy talk in this movie fits in but it seems wholey unnecessary. the talk with the indian family was droll and didn't seem to serve much purpose in the movie. maybe if any character in this movie delivered any line with any amount of personality and conviction it wouldn't matter. the characters couldn't make me care about anything, except when agent smith expressed his disgust for humans, that was awesome when he said(in not so many words..):"anything this weak was meant to die." that was sweet. he was probably the only actor that 'acted'. if a scene was enjoyable it was because he was in it. it's frustrating watching keanu because his performance is void of character.
there are some action scenes throughout the first half or so of the movie. they're there.
there's a 'war' scene, and the swirling sentinels provide nice visuals. this gives you a nice break from over wrought dialogue.
people keep talking to the oracle, why i don't know.
the movie eventually lumbers along to the climax with neo and agent smith. thank god agent smith is in this movie. that is probably the most enjoyable part of the movie. nice effects, choreography lifted straight from any dragon ball cartoon. this was pretty cool..
and then there's an ending with more dialogue, confound it all. i was hoping this movie would be good like the first, but it takes itself way too seriously and really just isn't that good. you want it to rule but it doesn't... like a guy said here, you could probably edit matrix 2 and 3 to be one movie. that would be nice. but as it stands, this is more like a B Sci Fi movie with a huge budget. if you enjoy cheesy sci fi, this is good for a laugh.

Pure Comedy!

When you go to see a Jim Carey movie, you expect nothing less than a comdeic genious at his best performance. Well, Bruce Almighty has exactly that! This is a hilarious movie with a very interesting storyline. It also stars my favorite actress, the beautiful Jennifer Aniston as Jim Carey's love interest in the movie. What would you do if you had all of the powers of God? If I were him, I'd zap a copy of this movie into every household on the planet so that everyone could enjoy it countless times! One of Jim Carey's best films!

Heavenly Movie

This is one of the most spell binding films you are likely to see. It is a rollercoaster ride of emotions that keep you on tender hooks all through the film. The film is loosely based upon the Hulme/parker murder case of the 50's. Set in Christchurch, Newzeland, Hulme and Parker are two girls aged 15, who dont fit in. They form a fantasy world so vivid that they are engrosed in it and eachother. It is only when they are to be seperated that things go fataly wrong. An outstanding debut from the wonderful miss Winslet makes this film a feast for the eyes, and Lynskey also proves to be an outstanding actress in her debut. The film has a fresh air to it, and also sympathises with the two outcasts, so that you can almost see how such a tragedy could occour.Jacksons direction is fantastic, and a brilliant sountrack is the icing on a perfectly baked cake!I wont spoil it for you, but if you want a night of pure enjoyment, buy this...go on!!

Southern justice at its best

This is one of the most unknown of suspenses. But, guess what the respectable review team Siskel and Ebert give it much credit. And when I show it to friends, they all purchase it. It's excellent every frame. A must!!!! Rent it first, you'll come and buy it.

The Breakup isn't as evident as some might think

I must say, Amazon does not yet have this on DVD but I ordered the English version on DVD that plays in my American DVD player from some company in Russia, the only drawback is that it isn't tracked, you have to sort of fast-forward like a VHS tape. However, I am still glad that I bought it. Yes, there are arguments and the ever-present Yoko (Yucko as I like to call her) but there are some wonderful scenes of the group jamming together, smiling, laughing and just having fun! The tension is at times visible but not overwhelming. Of course, we do see the downside, each one of The Beatles are more individuals at this point, they look different from each other and have distinctly different music styles. Some may be mad at me for this but Paul did seem as though he was trying to take over. However, I will admit that Ringo and George didn't want the decision-making responsibilities and John was falling further into the Yoko-void and losing interest in other things he once cared about.
But as I said, there are some great scenes. For example, the rooftop concert at the end. John and Paul are smiling at each other, joking around and fooling around with some of the songs. Everyone truly looks as if they're enjoying themselves. Even right up to the end The Beatles still had their magic, no fights could ever take away the fact that as musicians, they gelled like no other group ever has before or since! Their coming together for songs like "Don't Let Me Down" "Let it Be" "The Long and Winding Road" "I've Got a Feeling" "Get Back" and John and Paul singing together for "Two of Us" shows that there was still cohesion, combined creativity and joy in the making of their music!
I think this film, along with "A Hard Days Night" "Help!" "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Yellow Submarine" (even though the characters' voices were not their own) are MUST HAVES for anyone who truly likes The Beatles and can appreciate them for being the greatest group of musicians who ever lived!

Pink Floyd at their Best

i saw this years ago when i was younger and easily blown away by stuff for one reason or another, but i just got this dvd and it's still awesome! the director's cut is a little incongruous what with the planets and rockets and stuff, but the interviews are great. needless to say, the original film is where it's at, it just captures an atmosphere that's pretty damned amazing. for example the first shot in echoes where it zooms in really slowly, it's so simple yet is just mesmerizing. the director's cut breaks up this long shot, which really sucks so it's one good reason among many that they have the original. i've heard so many people say that pink floyd sucks live because it's just four guys standing around with their hair in their faces, and that's essentially what they do in this video, but that's the whole point i think, that four guys just standing around can exhude so much intensity and emotion just by being so into the music and their environment. it just shows that music isn't just about sight and sound, it's about atmosphere...

A wonderful alternative for a great cardio workout

The Brazilian Dance Workout, is a great way to keep in shape not to mention A LOT of fun. Those who say, they did not break a sweat doing this, obviously did not do the steps correctly, or didn't even attempt to. If you have rythym in you heart and soul, you can do these steps with almost no problems. Let the drum beats guide you, and you can feel it happen through your body. A wonderful and creative way to have an effective cardio workout, instead of the boring jog on the treadmill.
