The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
No Matter Where You Go, There You Are.

I'm actually a BB fan who found out about Banzai through Star Trek from Denise Okuda superbly doing her job as the publicity officer for Banzai. She left tons and tons of BB references in her book, "The Star Trek Encyclopedia." I found the movie at a rental store and rented it.
This is one of the best movies of all time. It's up there with Star Wars and Soylent Green. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who's looking to spend a good two hours on great quality fun. I mean who wouldn't love a story about a scientist-rock star-crime fighter who travels through dimensions to fight evil. I love this movie and I don't know anyone who wouldn't. I give this movie five stars.

I came across this series as a fansub of the OAV about 7 years ago and quickly fell in love with it and found the fansub for the whole series. Marmalade Boy on crack is the best way to describe this series.

Joshua - movie DVD cover picture
What would it be like if Jesus lived in your town?

"Joshua" was a wonderful movie that made you stop and think about how people today would react if Jesus, in the form of man, came into their every day lives. The movie concentrated on God's love for mankind and not on His judgment. As a Christian, I was very moved by the message. It was refreshing to see a clean movie with wonderful music. Third Day was great! I would highly recommend this movie to watch as a family and talk about how God meets us each at our point of need when we reach out to Him.

Good Will Hunting - movie DVD cover picture

This is a truly warming story. Definitely Matt Damon at his best. And - wow, Robin Williams, not in a comedy? You have to be kidding me! Anyway, Will Hunting (Matt Damon : Rounders, School Ties) has had a tough life. Leaving his parents, he goes in search of a counsellor and finds the perfect person (Robin Williams : Flubber, Jack) who teaches Will more about life than he will ever know. Also, this film is full of tragedy a bit, when girlfriend of Will's (Minnie Driver : Cousin Bette, Hard Rain) get's dumped by, well duh, Will it will truly bring tears to your eyes. A story with a true life. I recommend it truly. Buy it!

A must have for any decent film library

Of course it is admittedly different from the novel due to adaptations made for it to be a cinematic success, as all movie adaptations are. But even if you are crazy about the novel this is THE BEST movie portrayl of Dracula to be found (i know because I own them all) The mood and the talented acting will swallow you into the movie from beginning to end with great special effects to boot. Excellent to watch with your signifcant other and a cornerstone for anyone's collection (horror buff or not)

Belly Dancing The Sacred Shapes with The Goddess Dancing - movie DVD cover picture
My best combination of fun and exercise

I'm having a ball! This is a great introduction to the art of belly dancing expecially for those of us intimidated by the idea of going to a class or simply don't have time. The step by step instruction gives beginners a chance to learn how to focus on the movement and how to reproduce it. It is also a great form of exercise. I'm gaining muscle tone (an unexpected plus)and also have a ball showing a select few my new dance moves. The DVD gives you an overview and the history of belly dancing and a performance by the DVD instructors. Join the fun!

Coupling - The Complete Second Season - movie DVD cover picture
The Great Original!!

This is the original British show that NBC attempted to remake.
Coupling focuses on how the relationship between Steve and Susan develope, and it is based on how Steven Moffat (writer) and Sue Vertue (producer) got together. Their friends and ex-partners are also around to provide somewhat insane (but partially true) insights into relationships.
With season two, Coupling begins to take more risks with its humor. More risque and bold. First season seems a little tame compared to this DVD. The third season goes even further than this one. Season 2 has 9 episodes.
{Amazon deleted my episode details. Sorry, I guess they didn't like my summaries.)
The commentaries are good. Steven Moffat is the only one in all of the commentaries. Sue Vertue, Ben Miles, Kate Isitt, Sarah Alexander, and Gina Bellman are among the ones who can be heard in some of the commentaries. They discuss some of the background for some of the scenes as well as aspects of the production. Not the usual dull experts talking.
There are short interviews with Beryl Vertue (Sue's mom), Steven Moffat, and Jack Davenport.
I'm not sure of the reason for the color of the DVD case - bright green. Season one's case is blue. The cases do stand out. I like the bright colors, but I was trying to find a pattern or clue about the color choices.
Within the extras, there are hints at a 4th season of Coupling being written. Steven could be joking though.
I would recommend this DVD highly to anyone who may enjoy British comedies and isn't offended by sexual topics.

Social Study

Kurosawa is way ahead of his time with this one (just as he was in another film depicting the paparatcy in 1950, "Scandal"). The scenes in the movie are amazingly similar to today's scenes of the street rappers in US cities. They resemble not only the street rhythm of the rap songs, but also the movements, dress, and attitude. He got street life right in the EDO period and in the 21st century as well. You don't want to miss this piece of work by the genius.

The Boondock Saints [IMPORT] - movie DVD cover picture
Independent Ideas

The film "Boondock Saints" far surpasses most Hollywood productions from the outset simply by incorporating a plot different from the mainstream. Although the film contains the usual amount of violence and killing for an action movie, this film has the merit that the motive for the murders is very clear, and quite possibly justifiable. The social and moral questions raised throughout the film cannot help but elicit at least some critical thought. But don't worry about being forced to think too hard; the film is routinely punctuated by witty dialogue and amusing circumstances. The main characters, two selfless Irish brothers and a stray Italian, have delightfully good hearts and are endearing from the start. Willem DeFoe puts forth one of his best performances ever, adding creativity to his rough and tough character by portraying an extremely self-assured gay FBI agent who doesn't quite admit his sexual orientation to himself. His character is an excellent addition to the underlying religious theme of the movie as it pronounces the question of what purpose religion should serve, other than to provide moral direction. The film is a must see for anyone who wants to determine what is truly morally correct, as well as anyone who just likes to watch a couple of nice Irish lads following their calling.

Possibly the best cartoon ever...

I wish Sam-Jack would have been around when I was a kid. Compared with nearly every other cartoon available at 3:30 in the afternoon after school, this trumps them all. Great action (but without gratuitous violence), complex stories, playful jokes, and a grand artistic vision, this is a masterpiece of a series. Only two of the 13 episodes were anything less than excellent (and they were merely nominal).
