Nice Look

This is one of the episodes from PBS's Globe Trekker series. This gives a nice over view of Amsterdam with extras of travel advice. The video was shot around August/September, so the footage is of events going on at the time.

Best part about the Blobe Trekker series is not only beautiful video, But also the humor they add to it as well.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Widescreen Edition) (Harry Potter 2) - movie DVD cover picture
Very good, but not as good as the first.

This second film in the Harry Potter series is very good. Very good in the same way that say, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was. The talented cast, consisting of newcomers as well as screen heavyweights, continued their effective performances from the previous film. Jason Isaacs is an excellent addition as the evil Lucious Malfoy.

As good as this film is, I do not believe that it is as good as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. You see, Chamber of Secrets definitely had more action. And the special effects are once again nothing short of amazing. However, it lacked the drama that the first movie had. Chamber of Secrets is primarily an action film. Whereas the Sorcerer's Stone could arguable be considered a beautiful drama. I do not fault the filmmakers. They were faithful to the book. It just so happens that the second book in the series is more action oriented.

There were some very subtle, but beautiful, memorable scenes from the Sorcerer's Stone. How about that scene with Harry and Hedwig outside in the snows. And really, all of the scenes involving the Mirror of Erised were quite touching. From Harry seeing his parents, to Dumbledore telling Harry that it doesn't do to dwell on dreams and forget to live. In my opinion, it is subtle, well-crafted scenes that separate the good movies from the greats.

Daniel Radcliffe's acting is really great to watch. He cannot be accused of over-acting. He gives new meaning to subtle. His facial expressions, really his appearance and demeanor as Harry Potter is very believable as someone who has spent the first ten years of his life being the victim of neglect and emotional abuse.

Great Movie!

I really loved Monsters Inc. I thought it was smart, charming and really exceptional. As a lover of many animated films (including most of the Disney Classics) I was thrilled to see the popularity of films like Monsters Inc. / Shrek / etc.
I think Pixar makes the most visually appealing movies in the market. Their work on the "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" movies really knocked my socks off and I was so pleased with Monsters Inc.
John Goodmans' vocal performance was top rate. Great movie for the entire family - Kids adore it and parents will have a great time too!

Videos are Britney's prerogative!!

If you don't own this collection of videos, I would suggest purchasing it right now along with her greatest hits CD. This compliments the CD and any Britney fans' collection. From what I can see, this includes everything. From ..Baby One More Time to My Prerogative, one can see how Britney has blossomed in her career. Her videos are amazing. Who'd want to miss the clever idea behind Everytime or Britney's diamond covered body in Toxic? Not this fan. Each video has its own wonderful concept. This DVD should not be overlooked.

I have been a big fan of Michael Crawford for years, and this show really shows his diverse talents. It's one of the best musicals ever! I'd give it ten stars if I could.

More Than Just Alive

I never got the chance to see them back in high school. I got to hear about them from my friends who did. For me this falls into the better late than never category, and it is a real treat. Roger Glover talks how Ritchie Blackmore was telling him that the whole show was nothing more than nostalgia. In a sense that may be true, but only because the band wasn't recording for a number of years. To me, their sound is still relevant, and I hope they still find the time to crank out new material even without Mr. Blackmore's egotistical presence. The boys pull out a whole wish list of stuff not just from the album "Machine Head". Ian Gillan might not always be able to hit the real high notes, but I'm just glad he's there. You want to hear the good stuff? Buy this!

Michael Keaton *IS* Batman

So many reviews are on the spot about this movie - brilliantly filmed and acted, and the sets, wow!, what I can say but that they are perfect? This is Batman the way Batman should be - dark, brooding, moody, obsessed, driven. It's also Gotham the way it should be - dirty, all architecture excessively huge and imposingly impersonal and filled with the hubris of a city gone mad, busy, and of course filled with crime and danger. It is unfortunate that Keaton left the series to Val Kilmer - who is an absolutely rotten Batman - and George Clooney, who could be a good Batman if given a script that isn't garbage.
If you want to know who Batman is, and what he is like, this is the movie. Keaton has perfect reserve and intensity in this role. While we (the Serious Fans) were up in arms over the casting of Keaton as Batman, assuming he would bite, I was not just surprised when I saw the movie, but am convinced at the genius of Burton for seeing the rightness of his decision, and sticking with it even against the very concerted attacks from the fans to remove Keaton.
This is, thank God, not the stupid vacuous Batman of the TV series. I have no idea why the makers of the following films - especially Clooney's - decided to make Batman into a cartoonish caricature of who he really is. The brilliance of this film is even more evident when compared with the lack of honor that the later films have.
Jack Nicholson of course is a wonderful Joker. One can see that Jack was absolutely enjoying his acting time, and really put himself into it. Jack Palance as the whispering evil guy is also a perfect addition to the mood of the film. Although Nicholson really takes the screen in any scene he is in, Keaton is the real standout in this movie - perfectly quirky as Bruce Wayne, the man who is rather shy and nervous around people, but perfectly determined and confident when being Batman.
This is the best superhero movie that has been made (in my opinion) in terms of being true to the hero, and in terms of artistic merit in cinematography, writing, set design, costume design, and acting. Don't think of it as a superhero movie - this is first and foremost an artistic movie, and it just happens to be about a superhero.

The Must see movie

"Good bye Father of the Bride Part Two forever"? (I'm speaking to the oblivious clueless reviwer back on the reviews) Please. How juvenile can you get? Even if you bid it farewell, it won't go away. but I respect your opinion, even if it may not sound like it. On with the movie review. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Most sequels are boring and terrible, but this one really followed up with the first one. The fact that all of the characters were back from the first movie really helped. And how many movies have this kind of plot? Have you ever heard of another movie with a mother and daughter getting pregnant at the same time? And Martin's character, George Banks, was a really sweet man to be able to help out both his wife and daughter at the same time, without blowing his top, and he was a high-strung man to begin with. Short's character, Franck, is back with the same kooky qualities, and his driving to the hospital and all added much humor. I was happy to see some vulnerability in this movie, such as Keaton and Williams crying over the littlest thing-like all mothers do. The baby room, the deliveries, everything was so sweet. There isn't anything nasty or vengeful about it- it's just a soft, warm movie about a normal family with two babies on the way, with bright hopes for the future. Everything just seemed to pull together. The plot may be a bit predictable, but it's still great just to kick back and enjoy this two-hour movie accompanied with an emotional uplift. I sincerely hope they make a third part! It would make the movies even more enjoyable! I highly recommend this movie!!
