Nancy Spungen is a Legendary Goddess

Sid and Nancy is the best punk rock real life based film ever made, and the most interesting story ever told. It was based on fact, and after reading And I Don't Wanna Live This Life, by Deborah Spungen, and 12 Days on the Road:Sex Pistols, you can easily see the realism that the movie was formatted on. Nancy Spungen was a creative. beautiful punk rock godess, even though she was loud, and *unfortunately* a heroin user. Webb portrays her fairly, the real life Nancy was much sexier and charming. Sid was her life, they were romantic, and as every couple, had their ups and downs. The movie shows this, as well as several classic Sex Pistol songs, as well as Sid's solo efforts, managed by his loving girlfriend Nancy. I highly reacommend this film. Plus, Courtney Love, is also in it briefly, which is a plus as far as I'm concerned. It is a film loaded with talent.

Scariest Movie of all Time

One of the only movies I have seen where you can laugh and be scared out of your mind at the same time.
Seeing those rooms full of bones containing furniture made of bones and such and then Leatherface lumbering out of the kitching grabbing a screaming girl, and then sticking her *on* a meathook (ow!) where she is stuck as she watches him as he chops a friend of hers up for bbq! Scary!
But there's also a lot of dark comedy. Like when the family is all together with Sally. And they want "grandpa" who looks like hes a thousand years dead to kill her with a hammer. The hold her down and hand him the hammer but he keeps dropping it. And leatherface's gender problem is pretty funny to. Leatherface is all tough when he takes on teens but when he's with the family he's a scared confused little uhh guy.
Plus that annoying wheelchair guy (think king james, sharkman) gets his *big time*. That made me happy!!!
See this classic now!

Excellent Rendition of a Great Novel

When I found out that A&E had come out with a movie version of my favorite book I was overjoyed. I enjoyed their versions of Pride and Prejudice and Emma. I was very dissapointed in their production of Jane Eyre. Key scenes were either altered, removed, or just poorly done. The entire gypsy scene was gone. How this major scene could possibly been taken out with thoughts that it would not be missed is beyond me.
This was a wonderful book but a bad movie when the two are compared. If you have not read the book then maybe you won't care about the "alterations", but I promise you that this is one of the greatest books ever written and will not be dissapointed by investing the extra time and effort of actually picking up a copy and reading it.

You don't have to be British to appreciate The Office

I had people tell me that The Office was a British sitcom and therefore I would be unable to enjoy it. Boy, were they absolutely wrong. The Office has to be the best sitcom that I've ever seen.

The dry humor is absolutely hysterical. I can't recall a TV show where I have laughed so much. You will laugh out loud when you watch The Office. There is no audience in the background or a laugh track, so you will be laughing because it's funny and not because everybody else is laughing.

The deleted scenes are okay, but the outtakes are very funny. When you watch a scene on The Office, you might think to yourself, how can they get through this without laughing? Well, odds are.. they did laugh, many times. You'll be able to see some of this in the outtakes.

While it was disappointing that Ricky Gervais decided to not continue with The Office, the Christmas special really closed a lot of open ends, and I recommend it to everyone. I remain hopeful that perhaps we'll get to see more of The Office in the future.

Actually, yes!

This is a different sort of Romantic comedy that tends to take one by surprise. Featuring the talent of Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson and Keira Knightly, it is also more star-studded than most RC movies I have seen.

The film is like a collage of stories of several couples. The way the plot progresses reminded me a little bit of the drama PLAYING BY HEART. We are able to view myriad short-stories that are all interwined (in one way other) to form a cohesive whole.

Unlike a lot of flicks in the RC genre, this one is not afraid to engage in political satire. Set in Britain, the writers taken some not-so-subtle "shots" at both the Clinton and Bush(jr) administrations. Fans of either Clinton or Bush are likely to be miffed, while detractors of both are sure to be gleeful.

If you want to different kind of heartwarming drama / comedy, you might actually find some love here. It's worth taking the chance, anyway!

Best beginning salsa DVD

Host of the video is Evan Magolin, local San Francisco Dance instructor. His trademark is the "Let's break it down" phase that always follows each dance pattern demonstration. This allows the view to check moves step by step. Evan is entertaining and builds slowly. The chapter listings allow the viewer to jump to a particular move. His explanations are accompanied by a large screen view as well as a smaller picture that shows closeups of feet and sometimes hands. This is a video for people who want to learn how dance - not a display of professional dance moves.
