NO TOUCHY

This is an awesome animated film. I find it hilarious and fresh. Not to mention TOM JONES does the opening song! WOW! It is a true example that Disney is ready for the changing times. This film has some of THE best lines I have heard in a loooonnnnng time! They are original and get both kids and adults to burst out laughing. My friends child is about 2 years old. She doesn't talk a lot because she is VERY shy. But if anyone points to a character on the cover and says "who's that?" she pipes up proudly and clearly says their name! She has even memorized lines in the movie (especially Kronk lines). I am addicted also. Granted my husband and I truely appreciate Disney art and animation. So, maybe I am a little biast to begin with. But this is no ordinary Disney movie. Many Disney loyalists have booed this film. It really is a departure from the Disney norm. That, said I can recommend this movie to anyone with a sense of humor. Just a few heads up: #1. This is not a musical, appreciate it for what it is and don't expect them to break into song at any moment! #2. The humor is not usual Disney. It is very corny, and adult (I don't mean sex, violence, etc.) but kids can really get into it. There is also a lot of Physical humor, bouncing, tripping, crazy walking, etc. #3. Other reviewers have noted that the Special Edition DVD is not worth the extra $ because there really isn't any extra stuff, WRONG! These are people who obviosly have no interest in the research, development, and art of making a Disney animated feature. As such they should have read what was included, realized that it would mean nothing to them and purchased the regular edition. As for my family (I repeat, we are animation and Disney fans) this was a real treat. It is very interesting. So decide which side of the fence you are on and make the smart choice. I close with a list of my favorite lines from my favorite characters:Kuzco - "No Touchy"Pacha - "No Kuzco, No Kuzcotopia"Yzma - Not so much a line but when she is trying to get rid of Kuzco. Yzma and Kuzco are at the dinner table. Kronk is serving. She is trying to tell Kronk to hit him on the head but he just ain't gettin' it. So she has a brocolli in each hand and is repeatedly hitting one brocolli with the other. Under her breathe and out of the corner of her mouth she says "(h)it (h)im on the (h)ead."Kronk - (talking to a squirrel)"Squeek Squeekety Squeeker" (and many others!)
Old man in opening - "Beware the Groove!"

One of the Best Movies of All Time

Fargo is an absolutely brilliant movie that everyone shouldown. The DVD doesn't offer much of anything but the film is stillpretty awesome. It's worth a look for anyone who hasn't seen it. Everyone is outstanding and this film should have won Best Picture in 1996.

Great quality and just presentation

The quality of some of the color archive footage included in this DVD is amzaing, and much of it I've not seen elsewhere. I own several documentaries of WWII in color, and this is among the best I have. I was a little put-off at first by the title and the cover artwork, thinking perhaps that this would be a glorification of the Nazi regime. Even the price is a little steep, but its worth it for the high quality. Actually this DVD gives a fair presentation of various sides in the world conflict, including some amazing color footage of Canadians, Americans, French, Brits, etc. This DVD is also among the best WWII documentaries at conveying the social context of the time. Lots of parades, people on vacation, photograped in the time leading up to the war. Scenes from the ghettos and images of racial/religious injustice and resent, made all very real by the color and crisp photography. Hard to watch at times. Color footage of the German drive into the USSR as well. This DVD also tackles something seldom addressed: the strange interim period between the invasions of Poland and France. Overall, this DVD really crowns my collection of WWII color films, think it would do the same for others.

GREAT MOVIES!! GREAT PICTURE!! GREAT SOUND!!!!

I read a lot of these reviews out here prior to purchasing my Widescreen DVD's. I was a little worried about what I was going to get as far as the quality goes. There was so much talk about bad picture quality, bad sound quality.

After getting my DVD's, slapping them into my progressive scan DVD player, playing through my HDTV hooked up to a 5.1 surround system.. I can tell everyone out there that everything WAS PERFECT!!! The people writing these reviews stating that the video and audio translations to DVD are poor, are flat out lying or have system problems. These movies look and sound like they were made yesterday, absolutely fantastic!!

I'm not going to get into the debate about old or new versions.. it doesn't matter to me. I just wanted to tell everyone how visually stunning they are on DVD, and how great the sound was.

Glorious indeed!

So, if you like blokes wearing a bit of make-up, hopping about in heels, and giving you a brief lesson in British and American histories, you'll love this offering from Izzard.
I've been a fan of his for several years, and own the DVD with all the goodies. The Featurette documentary on the tour, the technical difficulties, the banter with the audiences, are all well worth watching. Especially because they are partly narrated by an intoxicated Izzard, filmed after the wrap party.
Very much in the vein of Monty Python, his comedy is a great mix of facial expression, esoteric obscure references, and lampooning Those In Charge.

BreathTaking Tale of Exploration and Colonialization

This is provocative cinema adventure of priests taking Kingdom of God to a native population yet untouched by advancing culture and technology.
DeNiro is powerful in role of changed mercenary/slavetrader who jumps sides, while Irons is just superb in role of spiritual giant with magic oboe who leads this people against all odds only to be overran -- or were they?
The storyline develops slowly yet beautifully in this magnificent landscape of South America. What makes it all one moving drama is a great soundtrack by Ennio Morricone.

Excellent for beginners

I wanted a video that would simply show me the basic poses in Yoga and help me get more flexible. This video is excellent! The instructor is very positive and emphasizes that each person varies in their ability to stretch. I have been doing the video for a week and it definately feels like it has given me more flexibility. I do plan on moving to a more "workout" type of Yoga video after about another week of this. But it is exactly what I needed as a beginner. I highly recommend this video.

A fun and absolutly brilliant movie!!

Well, Disney Studios finally got one right. It seems they've been trying to make movies of some of their attractions in their theme parks (Country Bears and the upcoming Haunted Mansion). I was a little wary after Country Bears wasn't all I'd thought it'd be. Was I wrong? Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is in search of a vessel to get his beloved Black Pearl back from Captain Barbosa, the man who left him to die on a deserted island years before. Helping Captain Jack in his quest is Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly. As Captain Barbosa sets out to reverse the curse that has beset him and his crew, Captain Jack is looking to re-capture his Black Pearl and the movie really takes off. The special effects are excellent and even though it's a Disney film, keep mind of the PG-13 rating.
