My baby loves this video

My 5 month old loves this video. He will watch it all the way through and sometimes twice. He's been watching it since he was 3 months old and still loves it. It is so nice to be able to get things done and know that he is being entertained. Every parent should have this video.

Jack Is the Hit

I have to say, I came to the movie theater specifically for Orlando Bloom, and in hopes of him hitting the spotlight. When leaving the theater? Three words were stuck: JOHNNY DEPP RULES.
I had never even heard of Johnny before hand, but after seeing that movie, the one who shines is Johnny, aka Captain Jack Sparrow. He definitely steals the show. Especially being made after the Disney ride, this is an exception to Disney movies out there! Captain Jack Sparrow will have you rolling in your seats with his punchlines and swagger...if that doesn't do it for you...I have no hopes for you, matey.

A Fistful of Dollars - movie DVD cover picture
Fans of westerns and/or Eastwood have no excuse, buy this DVD!

This is the first of the famed "Man with No Name" trilogy, aka the Sergio Leone trilogy. Of course, Eastwood's character is in fact given a name in this film, though you won't notice it until the end of the picture. The "Man with No Name" was largely a marketing creation, but the character Eastwood plays is roughly the same man in all three films. This film sees his genesis.

In "A Fistful of Dollars", an opportunistic gunslinger (Eastwood) arrives in a town full of corruption and money to be made. The interesting thing about this particular town, the thing that draws Eastwood to seek his fortune here, is that it has *two* bosses. The Baxters and the Rojos split the town, one running the booze whilst the other is running the guns. Eastwood's character sees opportunity where others see only pain and strife, and he quickly resolves that there must be some money to be made in a town like this.

The character is not as self-confident and detached as he is in either "For a Few Dollars More" or "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". Eastwood plays his character with a much more genuine slant, actually displaying at times his affection for the methods and ideas of the Rojos or for specific persons in the Baxter clan. He isn't quite the detached and supremely confident character he portrays in the later films, though this character still represents a radical departure from western film tradition.

The way in which Eastwood's character plays both sides is extremely clever. His nihilism is a refreshing departure from the white-hat/black-hat construction of the westerns popular before this time. The plot stays focused, and the characters stay true to their natures through the end, such as they are.

This film is supposedly based on the film "Yojimbo" by Japanese director Akira Kurosawa (famous for the film "Shichinin no Samurai".) I am not a fan of Japanese cinema, and cannot remark on that too much. Still, it is very clear that Kurosawa's films were inspired directly by John Ford's, and so ultimately it is a matter of western begetting western, and the genre is not diminshed by the fact that other nations may have attempted to copy it and impose their own cultural ideas on it. The basic ideal of the western is nearly universal, after all, and the Italian Sergio Leone is a master of it.

At an amazing price of $5 on the Amazon marketplace, this is definitely worth a purchase!

[DVD extras are minimal, I would base purchase of this DVD on whether or not you considered yourself likely to enjoy the movie itself.]

A Beautiful Passion.

This long awaited movie has finally come to Singapore. And I like to say that it was well worth the wait. Mel Gibson has given us the most accurate rendition of the true sufferings of Christ. No stone was left unturned in the very important details depicting the immense sufferings that our Lord underwent for us to be redeemed. To get the full impact if this movie, one would have to watch it a few times I figure; so as to capture the intricate details in this "highly rich in symbolism" movie masterpiece. Dont leave earth without watching it. It may just save your soul. Have a Holy Week and God Bless.

This is the BEST Star Trek movie. Ever.

I thought this Star Trek movie had it all. Action, humor, GREAT special effects, and even a love story. In my opinion, this is by far the best Star Trek movie to have the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast in it. This movie is more in the style of Star Trek: The Next Generation, than Star Trek: First Contact was. This movie is one the whole family can enjoy. It's non-gory, and still has a good, refreshing story. If you want a good Star Trek movie, I highly recommend this movie:)

Awesome Movie

Though I would say I am not exactly the right demographic for this film, this was a thoroughly entertaining film. I found that Pixar was able to seamlessly use technology with a well-written story, so that I was totally drawn into the tale. I think this would be a great impetus for kids to learn about undersea life and would greatly be complemented by any of the Captain Jon series in particular the newest one Capt Jon's Island Adventure

Love, Sex and "Gettin' Got" At Your Local Retail Rodeo!

You know, reviewer readers, every town from Salem, Massachusetts to Salem, Oregon has a local store just like the great state of Texas' Retail Rodeo featured in this film. Go ahead and call 'em Odd Lots, Big Lots, Dollar General, Family Dollar, or the old fashioned phrase of Five & Dimes, but every town has one and usually they employ some strange people to boot Let me tell ya, there are LOADS of strange characters in "The Good Girl".

Justine "Teeny" Last, played surprisingly & extraordinarily well by none other than Mrs. Brad Pitt/Jennifer Aniston is a clerk/cashier/cosmetics counter employee at the local Retail Rodeo. Who knew that Jennifer could really act? Not me! For her to break out of the Rachael mold was exciting to watch for I was quite pleased with her performance even though I am not a huge fan of "Friends".

The unhappy, trapped in her loveless & babyless marriage, Justine meets the morose Tom Worther, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, the "brandy new" cashier at Retail Rodeo and well... they start up an affair. Tom is his "slave name" as he tells Justine, so he has re-named himself after "The Catcher In The Rye". Justine asks, so your name is "Catcher"? He states, "NO, Holden, from Holden Caulfield, the main character in the book."

Teeny and Holden start meetin' for their lovin' in the back store room of Retail Rodeo, the town's seedy motels, and even Teeny's car, they form a bond and above all else, seem to really understand one another like no one has understood either one of them before in their whole existence. They sweetly refer to it in the film as "Gettin' Got"...

Even Justine's pothead housepainter of a husband, Phil Last, played deftly by John C. Reilly (Boogie Nights) never has really "got" Justine.

Bubba (Tim Blake Nelson) , Phil's best friend, co-painter & pot smoker in crime and his dog Bits find out about Holden and Justine and then things sure do git interestin'!

Zooey Deschanel from "Almost Famous" has a hilarious part as Cheryl, a smart aleck and edgy store employee, Mike White as the gospel preachin' Nazarene security guard, "Corney", Deborah Rush as Gwen, and your Retail Rodeo Store Manager, Jack Field is played convincingly by John Carroll Lynch.

This is one of the best drama/comedies that I have viewed in quite a while, so come on down to your local Retail Rodeo and "Get Got!!!"

Happy Watching, All!!!
