Movie was one of the best ever, DVD adds to its charm

I know alot of people hated this movie. And I understand why. You see, this is not a mainstream movie. When it got all the press and started making tons of money I knew the backlash would come, because people that shouldn't see the movie were going out to watch it. The public is used to neat little movies wrapped up in cute little packages, and this movie doesn't do that. It's raw, shaky, ad-libbed, not very cohesive, but it works. You need to suspend disbelief and just put yourself in that situation, what would you do? We slowly but surely watch these people unravel as the movie goes on, talking less, getting tired, hungry, scared. You can see it on their faces, and it's horrifying to watch. I have seen alot of horror movies in my time, but this was the first one that made me actually made me lose sleep. The day after I saw it, I was telling a friend about it and got goosebumps just by thinking about the ending. The DVD rocks because it has the best director commentary I've heard yet. These guys were so down to earth and give you tons of great trivia about what was going on during the shoot. And there's the Sci-Fi special making the blair witch seem all the more real. I only have one complaint, what's with the border around the picture? It makes the movie look fake, a full screen, no border shot would've given the movie the home video feel that it needed at home, watch the extra scene on the dvd, it's full screen, you'll see what I mean. Enjoy kiddes, this movie rocks!

Where are they now?

This has been called the "Spinal Tap" of the community theater world, but it really is - and in a good way. It is directed in the same pseudo-documentary style as Spinal Tap, and is just as drily hilarious. The actors are all terrific and make you feel like they were born for these parts. And with a cast that includes Eugene Levy, Fred Willard and Catherine O'Hara, you can hardly go wrong. This film was obviously crafted with a lof of love and effort, and it shows through. This is a film that gets better with each viewing, and it is already a cult classic. Kudos to Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy for daring to write a brilliant comedic film at the expense of "marketability".

Fun, Weird and Well-Told

It's fun, it's weird. It's visually stunning and fun. It's a well-told story.

It's what watching movies is all about.

Kids may get nightmares from this stuff, from the realistic portrayal of the street fight on the dirt road and the scenes in the collapsed house. You get the feeling that's the way H. G. Wells would have liked it.

90 minutes of pure Ah-nuld awesomeness

This one of those movies that doesn't need a plausible, intelligent plot to be an amazing and awesome movie. In fact, it kicks ass more than a great deal of intelligent movies! But I digress, Commando is awesome. The story is that a deposed dictator and a group of renegade military thugs kidnap Schwarzeneggar's daughter and will only give her back alive if he assassinates the dictator's country's president in less than 24 hours. After given this warning, he boards a plane with a thug watching his every move, but while sitting down he loses his focus on Arnold and starts to relax, then Arnold leans forwards, swings his massive forearms back as hard as he can (knocking the thug out), and breaks his neck, and no one notices! He then jumps off the moving plane into a puddle like he jumped 6 feet. That's just a taste of how the implausibility of this movie is what makes it incredible in the end. The prime example of this is the last half hour of the movie when Arnold storms the dictator's island hideaway and takes out a whole army by himself, like a first-person shooter with god mode on. Insane. I won't spoil the rest, this movie kicks ass, watch it!

The BEST movie of 2002

Without a doubt, this was the best drama of 2002. Provocative, emotional, and intelligent. The screenwriter took an incredible novel, and converted it into an incredible movie.
From the opening scene to the too soon ending, I was mesmerized by the acting, and paralyzed by each spoken word. How seemlessly the director took three women's lives, from different periods of time, and tied them together via a Virginia Wolfe novel; "Mrs. Dalloway". Bravo to all involved with this project.

Great for a first Season

Alias is one of my Favorite shows because of all the spying she does and espionage that goes around it makes you think does that really happen when I'm in school. The show is about a young woman who decided to enter the CIA when one of them ask her to.For years she does it until she's about to get marry and she tell's her fiance once the CIA or fake CIA fines out they have him kill.Once this happens everything changes sydney fines out that she's been working on the wrong side all along and now wants to take them down. The rest of the show is great and the dvd has enough stuff to get buy so don't sit here and order it already.

Stephen King's It - movie DVD cover picture

This movie was so good! The acting excellent, and nobody else but Tim Curry could play Pennywise. And I have to say, ever since I saw the movie, I've been afraid of clowns. Seriously! I was also glad because one of my favorite actors, John Ritter of Three's Company was in it. I just LOVED this movie! I mean, it has this quality to it, when you're watching it. When you're watching it, you think "Oh, come on, this isn't scary!" But then after you're done, you start to think, and you get scared! Or at least that's what happened to me. And now, I tell all my friends about it, and they REALLY want to see it! See this movie! I was almost afraid to, because of Stephen King's the Shining. I saw The Shining when I was seven, and I was never really the same again. But It is so much better, and so un-realistic that it is actually freaky!

Why not available in French on DVD?

This excellent film, of great interest to French speakers and students of French, does not seem to have options for French dialogue and French subtitles. What a tragedy!

Disturbing morality play

I delighted in the lip-syncing effects of good old music, but unseated by grim lives. Next morning I rethought my reaction, and think it one of my favorite movies. It's a cautionary tale, a morality play. This is not the best of all possible worlds. Be careful.
