Modern Retelling in a Classic Style - Top Marks

This is one of the better movies to come out of the Disney animation studios in more recent years. Older viewers will take comfort from an artful production, which works well on all age levels, and is very enjoyable family viewing. This reminds me of the Disney movies of old, a great story, laughter, sadness, fun and adventure, and some moral values thrown in for good measure. But what makes gives this movie 5 stars is what it doesn't have - unlike the recent releases of the last few years, it is NOT a musical, with characters bursting into song every 5 minutes! It seems that Disney have gone back to the winning formula and great balance of story, music and vision, something that was reflected at the box office following it's theatrical release. This is a truly wonderful film, and even though you know the story you will want to see this movie again and again. A great buy for Christmas!

SO GOOD. I'm completely addicted.

By far the most accurate, filmed and acted version of Jane Austen's novel that I have ever had the privilege to see. There is a reason why this A and E home production was and is still their most successful production. The cast could not have been improved upon, and it is true, you will be longing for your own Mr Darcy by film's end. Jennifer Ehle brings the character of Elizabeth Bennett to life and is so believable, you will wish it never ended. You actually want to be her, transported back in time, to experience her courage, wit and growth as a young woman yourself. I won't go into a synopsis on the movie, for there are far too many already and I could hardly improve on them, but I cannot say enough about this film. If you see any version at all, make it this one. Even the most cynical who do not enjoy classic novel or movie period pieces will fall in love with this classic.

The Bundys first run

I don't see why so many are bashing the picture quality, I don't think it's bad at all. I love Married ... With Children and this DVD is a great way to start off the collection, for I'm sure they're will be more. The Married ... With Children show did get a lot better once Steve was gone and Jefferson came into the picture, but these are still classic, great episodes. You can tell these are the early days for Al seems a lot more affectionate towards Peggy and Peggy seems more loving to Bud and Kelly but they are still funny, especially when they do go off and insult each other. This show has the best insults, it's witty and hilarious. There really is no DVD extras so I suggest if you already have them on tape, there is no need to get this. This is just for people who want to keep reliving the old episodes.

Don't miss this movie!!!!!!

This sequel to the first Scooby Doo Live action movie is, in my opinion even better than the first! The reasons why this movie, "Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" is worth watching are as follows............1. There is alot more action in this movie than in the first and that's saying something because the first was very good too.2. In this movie, some of our all-time favorite monsters from the famous Cartoon show are brought to life again, this time on the BIG screen! Some of these Monsters that we see are the Ten Thousand Volt Ghost, The Black Knight, who gets the "Jinkies" beat out of him, by Scooby and the gang. Miner Forty-Niner is in this film as well, and his demise is especially hilarious. Also, do you remember that famous Scooby cartoon where Scooby and the gang meets the Pteradactyl ghost? Well he is in this film as well.....more than you know. There is also a new monster that is unleashed, but I wont spoil that for you. Other monsters in the film are the ghost of Captain Cutler, the Skeleton men, who are absolutely hilarious, as well as one of my all time favorite Scooby Doo villians, the scary Tar Monster. This movie is full of laughs, typical scooby doo nuttiness, and this film is full of something else, too.Character. You really get to see Mystery Inc for who they are. They are like you and I. They have fears and we know what happens when they confront them. They overcome their fears. We can do the same. Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Velma, arent always brave, but they always unmask the ghost. Thats what truly matters. This is one of my all time favorite movies. As of this review, I have seen "Scooby Doo 2" Six times. Its the kind of movie that you never get sick of. This movie shows that Scooby is still the top Dog! I highly recommend it, and I will buy the DVD on the first day that it comes out, because it is worth it. Til then, you can enjoy it at the movie theater! This movie is a great movie for the entire family.I hope that you will enjoy it!

WONDERFUL MOVIE!!

This is one of the best musicals I have ever seen! The rest of the movie is good too, but if you fell in love with Kelly's and Justin's powerful vocals, you will love this! I would also recommend the soundtrack to this movie, the songs are awesome. Justin and Kelly sound GREAT together! Their voices just flow together beautifully. If you like Justin and Kelly you will love this movie!

three screams.... fffffrom jose mojica marins

this has to be perhaps my dvd box set of all time. here we have a splendid example of foreign/ horror cinema at it's all-time best in one box at such a reasonable price. this is enough to make anyone scream for joy! i love every sick, repulsive moment of the coffin joe trilogy & recommend to any serious collector of great films. here we have atmosphere galore, attractive women, and a thoroughly disgusting but original character who rivals any psychopath or monster we've ever seen in american films. while the films at times may remind one of vincent price or perhaps even russ meyer(further into his film making), mr. marins was way ahead of his time and the world has yet to experience the sppokiest villain ever to grace black and white film. not to mention the pyschedelic color which is truly ghastly to say the very least. in the first story, we find an evil and unholy undertaker terrorizing his hometown in search of a woman to carry his child. it's clearly evident that coffin joe will stop at nothing to get what we wants and the devil take the hindmost. no pun intended here folks. considered quite controversial for it's time, the film was successful in marins native country nevertheless. the second film is nearly twice as horrifying and will leave scratching your head or your skin long after you've ejected the disc from your player. coffin joe returns in the second film still seeking the perfect atheistic woman to carry his child. perhaps fate has smiled on zao du caixo because he meets a woman in this film who shares similiar philosophical beliefs and does wish to carry his child. or does she? to add an even greater surprise, our fiendish friend takes a trip into hell where we really see how the other half live on the other side. or does he? i'm not telling. in the third film, marins gives us a distorted but thoroughly artistic vision of people and their strange vices or sick obsessions. through a series of vignettes, we once again are mortified while marins unfolds takes us a trip. it were as though we took an acid trip as well while watching this one. or did we? surprisngly enough, this one is said to be his masterpiece but has never been played in theatres anywhere to this very day. sad, sad story. thank god for dvd and fantoma. don't bother with purchasing each individual title separetely as you will end up spending way too much money. go ahead and purchase the box set and i know you'll be glad you did. no one in the world will ever have the same efect on you as zao du caixo. also, this is a limited edition coffin box set so get it while you still can. unpleasant dreams, my friends. hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

The Shawshank Redemption - movie DVD cover picture
Perfect in every sense...

Every so often, I feel cinematic achievement reaches a new zenith...a point where I feel (albeit erroneously) that the bar of accomplishment can rise no more. Yet, as said, I am eventually mistaken, mainly due to remarkable stories of profound creative intensity. These are the creations that highlight vital essences of life and society.
The Shawshank Redemption is truly an element of such a category.
The Stephen King novella, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, is a relatively brief tale, a section of a larger book called 4 Seasons. Still, it is brilliantly adapted as a feature-length motion picture, with no flaws or injustices therein.
If you are wondering why it is such a good movie, then you only need to think about one word: freedom. Think about what it means, and how easy may be to take for granted in today's liberated world. Set in the hardened American past, The Shawshank Redemption teaches us a valuable lesson about the fickle nature of sovereignty, and the inevitable boundaries that restrict us along the path of life. Still, despite the misery of indeterminate and forceful detainment, a love of life is found.
As such, this film presents a quest like no other. The characters seek to transcend their enslavement in a vile microcosm of dubious honesty and ill will, cherishing the subtle scents of freedom that waft through the senses on a very limited basis. After seeing this film, you'll never look at a bottle of beer or an opera record the same way: when you have nothing else, such frivolities are your only ties to freedom. Still, the intelligent social analysis does not end at this basic level. Rather, it continues by showing the affects of being reintroduced to reality, and the ensuing overdose of true liberty...
Nevertheless, as clear-cut as the overall theme may seem, a mark of cunning snakes through it...fervent...unexpected...
The result will knock you out of your seat. See for yourself. 10/10

Best horror film in ages

I was lucky enough to get to see this at the cinema, and talk with the director+script writer. I'm a fan of the horror genre and this was one of the best films I've EVER seen. It lays the tension and suspense on in spades, superbly balanced with a black humour that is refreshing and frequently genuinely hilarious. WATCH IT!!! (Just not alone. +with all the lights on).

F!@#n Hilarious!!!

You know I don't care what anyone else says about Jackass: The Movie, like "it's stupid", "it's too crude", or when those real dumb a$$es say "it's not funny". F!@# you! This one of the funniest, most original ideas for a movie in, like, forever. The entire Jackass crew just delivers one laugh after another, nonstop, throughout the movie. Yeah, a lot of them are gross or painful to watch, like the piss snocone or the paper cuts, but I guarentee will end up laughing. And besides, that's the entire point of Jackass anyway. Another thing, don't listen to those damn critics who keep talkin' S@#$ about it, they're retarded. That's right Ebert, F@#$ You!!!!
