Miles deep in the heart

Moonlight Mile is one of the best films of 2002. It's fantastic script teeters on the edge of humor and heartache through out. It's sentimental nature never goes soft but instead always maintains an indifferent feel and for that remains believable. Joe (Gyllenhaal) loses his fiance' when she is killed in a disbute at a local diner. He stays with her parents Ben and Jo Jo (Hoffman and Sarandon) to work with Ben in Real Estate, to make up for his loss and to hide inner pain and secrets. When Joe meets and falls in love with a women, who works at a bar Ben is trying to close a deal on, the truth must be revealed. A touching, moving film about finding one's home and security gives a realistic look on dealing with loss and the road to recovery. Spectacular performances from Gyllenhaal, Hoffman, Sarandon, and newcomer Ellen Pompeo respectively.

I see dead people....

I thought this movie was fantastic! It kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. It was also the best child acting I have seen in a long time. I can't even count how many times it gave me the chills. I wanted to cover my eyes but i was too scared to miss something!

Having seen the movie...

I know this is going to be a wonderful video. The movie was a sweet, romantic telling of love lost and suddenly found again. David Duchovny is amazingly perfect in the role of Bob Rueland. He makes you want to see what happens next. You cry with him, you laugh with him... you feel what he is going through.
Minnie Driver is a good choice for Gracie. She seems to work well with Duchovny and especially with Bonnie Hunt.
If you want a movie that you can watch with your kids, this is it. I took my nephew and my mother and they both loved it. I'm definitely going to add this to my DVD/Video collection and I'm looking forward to Bonnie Hunt's next venture.

Really, really, really rediculously funny

The first time I saw 'Zoolander,' I was sort of confused. It was just so stupid, so random, so... I had to watch it again. The second time around, I suspect that I liked it much more because now it is one of my favorite movies, and definitely my favorite Ben Stiller film. Actually, now, whenever I see a Stiller movie, I can't help but think that he's still the stud with spikey black hair.

The entire film is a mockery of the fashion industry. Wait, not just the industry, but also of fame, fortune, and beauty. 'Zoolander' quips male models ('I'm sure he knows about styling gel - he's a male model.'), the fashion of 'normal' people ('I do not like snoopy reporter with lack of fashion sense.'), and the stupidity of the people in the industry ('What is this? A center for ants?').

'Zoolander' is also a goldmine for celebrity cameos, ranging from David Bowie, to Natalie Portman.

Overall, 'Zoolander' is definitely a goofy comedy, but if you give it a chance, you just might find it perfect to tickle your funnybone!

Definition of the quiet Western gunfighter

Clint Eastwood was one of the men principally responsible for shaping the archetype of the silent, itinerant Western gunfighter. Drifting from town to town, guarding his words as closely as his money, Eastwood's character (known only as "Blondie" in this film) helped shape the western gunfighter in modern film as we know it.
First, a comment on the VHS edition of the film. Due to its length, the movie unfortunately was split into two cassettes. The break comes at a relatively quiet point in the movie, which is nice, but the need to change tapes midway through is a bit of an annoyance.
As to the movie itself, this is spaghetti Western at its best. Three men with varying degrees of evil in their souls scramble to be the first to lay hands on a forgotten cache of Confederate loot. The three serve as interesting character studies in comparison to each other. Blondie sits in the middle, someone who looks out for himself as long as it's not at the expense of an honest individual, although he has no qualms about defrauding the government. Tuco, the career criminal, is predictably crude and motivated only by his basest desires. Angel Eyes is cold, calculating, and completely ruthless. While Tuco has his occasional moments of loveable rascalhood, Angel Eyes in unredeemably evil.
The three men's race for the money takes them across the Western landscape, through a number of period situations and predicaments. They are bound together by mutual interest, revenge, and perhaps grudging respect, although of course each intends to walk away with the money alone.
At two and half hours, this is not a movie for those weaned on such faster-paced (but still enjoyable) fare as Tombstone and Young Guns. It is, however, one of the all-time greatest Western movies ever made.

TRY IT, YOU'LL LIKE IT!

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The "satire" was great [even reminded me of a few people], and the acting was good [loved Peter Weller and John Lithgow who was over-the-top!]. Whatever happened to the production of "Number 2"? I've been waiting to buy this DVD.

A whirlwind of music and emotion

There are no words to describe this film. Having just coming back from seeing it, I am still somewhat in shock. The entire first half of the film is literally zooms by in a blur of color and music. Once the story gets going, you're already dazed by the intensity of it all.
My favorite part of the film was Ewan McGregor's voice. Seriously, he can sing! I never knew a guy could reach such high notes and still sound wonderful. Nicole Kidman was just as great, and I enjoyed every song they sang together. The mixture of music in the movie is so strange that it makes the film worthwhile.
Personally I love out of the ordinary movies, so I really loved Moulin Rouge. Baz Luhrmann is a genius, and he really succeeded with this film. So many summer movies are full of fluff and of no real emotional value. If you're looking for a gem of a movie; if you're looking for a film that will make you laugh and cry at once, then go see Moulin Rouge right away.

great show, at least for first 2 seasons

What a great series!! In this dark time for television of reality tv this show is one to watch. Great stories, great acting, great action, and doesn't dumb it down like most shows today.
Having said that, I refer to seasons's one and two, three is awful, it's like the writer's can't be bothered anymore.

Personification of Grit and Determination

This movie is full of character. Cuba Gooding Jr has done justice (a very convincing performance indeed) to his role of a small town guy trying to defy all odds to be the first black in US naval history to be a master diver. Robert de Niro is superb as usual. After all, If you will it - it is no dream. This is a story about shaping your destiny against all odds.An excellent movie to show the kids, as movies with character are out of fashion these days and movies with a lot of special FX and sound effects but lacking substance are sadly the in thing. This movie proves that you do not need a big budget to make a great movie.
