Memento! Thriller for the Millenium

Saw Memento and found it to be a great story. Told in time reverse order, I thought that to be a great twist in the mix, forcing the viewer to be stronger attention to the story as it rolled on, for fear of missing an important detail. The performances of Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss and Joe Pantoliano were rock solid in telling this very twisted tale of murder and deception.

An endearing story of an unconventional friendship

The Polish brothers do excellent work in this gentle story of unique relationships. By following the story of conjoined twins we are able to see the highs of sharing a symbiotic relationship, and the lows of being an outsider in society. For it is often the same things that bring us togther, yet keep us apart. A very enjoyable movie for anyone interested in the study of relationships.

Nosferatu, The Vampire - movie DVD cover picture
Bela Who???

That's the question you'll be asking yourself after viewing Max Shreck's performance as the titular character in Nosferatu. A film once nearly lost to us, Nosferatu is perhaps the film that best represents the creepiness and terror of Stoker's Dracula. Murnau successfully utilizes all the tools and techniques at his disposal to create a film thick with atmosphere. What he is unable to do with dialogue, he does with clever special effects and effectively framed shots and sequences.
This DVD presentation of the film is very good. It offers two musical soundtracks. The first is a simple organ meant to show how the audience would have experienced the film 80 years ago. The second is a modern orchestral composition that I feel better serves the film. It has a haunting, gothic feel to it that fits the action on-screen like a glove. There is also a commentary track by noted film historian Lokke Heiss. While Heiss is clearly a very learned scholar, he is one dull commentator. Honestly, I have an appreciation of silent film but his droning on without the benefit of a musical backdrop nearly put me to sleep. Heiss also narrates a much shorter featurette on the present-day sites of the film that is a little easier to swallow.
I urge you if you are either a film enthusiast or a fan of the horror genre to pick up this well done presentations of one of the best films ever (silent or otherwise).

YogaKids is the BEST!

My daughter and I started doing YogaKids every evening when she was 18 months old. At first, she could only do one pose, but she watched the kids doing yoga with great interest and now, at age 2, these are her very favorite. She's learned yoga and lots of new words and concepts from these creative and challenging videos. My daughter is still mastering new poses and is so proud of herself as she tries and achieves new things. It is a great DVD to do with your child. It is our favorite part of the day. Silly to Calm is a great bedtime yoga practice. It loosens us up and brings us down to a calm, peaceful state. My daughter is ready to move into bed when this video is done and she does so happily and easily!

Lady & The Tramp II - Scamp's Adventure - movie DVD cover picture
Yet another sequel!

Disney has definatly been into the sequel making this year with Little Mermaid II return to the sea, Toy Story II, Lady and the Tramp II, and coming soon Hunchback of Notre Dame II, and in 2002 Cinderella II. However each of them have been or will be good...Lady and the ramp II was excellent. It takes place only a few months after Lady and Tramp get hitched in the original movie and now they have pups, three girls and a boy. The boy wants nothing but freedom he doesn't believe that sitting around in a house is what dogs should be doing. "Rules, Rules, Rules!" is his sarcastic reply to most of what his father says to him. However as most Disney movies, there are so many morals in this wonderful masterpiece about home is where you belong and where the love is. Your children will watch this and fall in love with all the characters, well maybe not Buster! It may be a good idea for them to watch Lady and the Tramp the original to get familiarized with some of the characters. But even if they don't they will fall in love with the movie.
Disney did a great job matching voices for this masterpiece as most of the original voices have sinced passed on. Jodi Benson does the voice of Lady and for those of you that are big Little Mermaid fans she also did the voice for Ariel in both the original and the sequel. Disney originally didn't want her to have the part because they said too many people would associate the voice with Ariel, however Jodi went home and made a demo of her voice doing Ladies voice and sent it in anonomously and Jodi got the part because Disney thought it was a perfect match to Barbara Luddy's voice in the original! A great buy and a great movie to watch over and over for ages 1-101

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is definitly gritty and intense for a horror movie; the way it was filmed almost makes it seem as if it is a documentary of a true story. The film follows five friends on a summer afternoon drive who have the misfortune of running into a backwoods family of flesh eating cannibals led by the skin-mask wearing Leatherface. The Special Edition DVD is a must for any fan of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE because it contains all kinds of goodies; out-takes, theatrical trailers, TV spots, and much more.

The Best Film of 2001

Oh, my my my my my...This movie has touched me in so many ways I seriously cannot explain. If I were to ever make a movie, this would be the one I would make. Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson, you 2 are absolute geniuses. The mood of this movie, the songs on the soundtrack ( especially Nico ), and the actors chosen for this movie make this easily one of the most well written, well thought out and complete movie to date. Thank you very much for making this movie, and please keep up the good work.
