Maiden can't go wrong!

Grandiose is probably the word to be used for this concert. The stage is big, the crowd is wild and of course the newly reunited Maiden are in top form. The intro is taken from movie First Knight, nice epic classical intro, then Smith take everybody by surprise with the intro riffs to Wickerman! other tracks from the then-released Brave New World include The Ghost of the Navigator, Brave New World, Blood Brother, The Mercenary and the already classic Dream of Mirrors. This song has an intro that shows Bruce in excellent shape. Of course there are the classic closers Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, Sanctuary, Number of the Beast, Hallowed Be Thy Name and Run the Hills. There are also hits from the 80's The Evil that Men Do, The Trooper, 2 Minutes to Midnight and Wrathchild. No track from Somewhere in Time, although it's the album that sounds closest to their current sound, and also nothing from No Prayer For the Dying. Fans of Iron Maiden know that they are not ashamed to play songs from the Blaze-era, which I think shine as much as the ones from the golden era: the epic numbers The Clansman and The Sign of the Cross. If you are a fan, you probably already own this on DVD and double audio CD, if you are trying to get into Maiden then this is a good point to do so. The packaging, the bonus interviews, the picture quality and the sound mix are quality. Really great DVD!

Phantom of the Opera

This is probably the third version of Phantom that I have had the privilege to view and by far the most spectacular. The staging is fascinating. The story line is basically in the ball park but slightly different from prior versions and yet does not harm the tale. The music of Andrew Lloyd Webber is excellent as are the voices. It has been worth the two year or more production time - just wish it were getting more publicity.

One of my All-Time Favorites

Absolutely oustanding and astounding at the same moment. Lucas, in his directorial debut, uses light and sound to accomplish a wonderful movie experience.
This video is not for everybody! It's not just for hardcore star wars fans, not even hardcore sci fi fans. If you prefer action packed, Star Wars/Trek type movies, this is not for you. IT is a mroe thought provoking movie (yet not as far as thin red line).
This movie teaches a lot about ourselves, as human beings. That we are capable of being different and special. In a society so dependent on doing only what you're told, one man can change the world simply by saying no and walking away. Truly a revelation!

Outstanding! I Can't Believe It's Tv!

I normally never watch anything on tv. However, I've heard so much about the show that I decided to watch the DVD set. In a word, it is Fabulous! The very complex hero yet anti-hero, Tony Soprano, is compelled to see a psychiatrist after he has a panic attack. Neither having the attack nor seeing a woman shrink is conducive to his job as a tough guy mafia man. Unlike "Analyze This," which had a similar premise, this story is not played for laughs. There is some brilliant writing in this too with the psychiatrist appearing in Tony's dreams as both a sexual interest and then as his mother! The late Nancy Marchand is absolutely great as Tony's scheming mother, who is quite the matriarchal manipulator among the gang family. You will be absolutely hooked upon seeing the first episode so it is good that you've got 4 episodes per disk. I might go back to watching tv if more of it were like this.

Will live up to expectations

Just from the trailer I can tell this will be a special movie garnering many academy awards. I can't wait to see it. Even scorses himself said it's his best work in years. The bugdet was the largest in Miramax history ($90 million) and the cast is superb. Not since Oliver Stone's J.F.K. have I seen a cast with this many stars in it. Scorsese has made arguably the best movie of the decade in each he has been working. Taxi Driver in the 70's, Raging Bull in the 80's, Goodfellas in the 90's, and hopefully Gangs of New York for the 00's.

Now Entering Everwood, Co

Thank god for The WB. It has been a while since there has been a family drama that is so refrshingly honest, sincere, engaging, and brave. Since it's debut in September of 2002, this show has emerged as the crown jewel in the network's arsenal. Filled with fresh stories and new twists on old conventions, this show also boasts an incredible cast who bring to life realistic and engaging characters. This show continues to grow and expand on this brilliance in it's two subsequent seasons. Do not let the reviews who state otherwise fool you. It stays true to itself in later seasons and I can only assume these reviewers were unhappy with what happened and toss it off as "bad" or "not as good" simply because they didn't get it. Thank god the critics and real fans do. Treat Williams stars as famed New York surgeon, Dr. Andrew Brown. A workaholic with a wife and 2 kids. When tragedy strikes the family, he makes an about face in his life and moves his kids to the idyllic town of Everwood, Colorado. There he sets up shop with a practice in the town's old train station, which is right across the street from the town's only other physician, Dr. Harold Abbott(perfectly played by the fantastic Tom Amandes). Andy's son is 16 year old Ephram(The superb Gregory Smith), a loner type kid with a major chip on his shoulder concerning his father. And then there is 9 year old Delia(Vivian Cardone), a littly dynamo with a penchant for baseball caps. Others include Dr. Abbott's daughter Amy(The adorable Emily Van Camp), Abbott's son Bright(The funny Chris Pratt), Abbott's mother, and Andrew's nurse, Edna(The great Debra Mooney), her husband and town bus driver Irv(John Beasley), who is also the show's narrator, and Andy's lovely neighbor Nina(Stephanie Niznik). It had been such a long time since I had watched a stellar debut season. It was perfect. The show manages to be as realistic as possible and tries to go as far as it can with certain topics. Something I am sure the people who said the seasons afterward were no good only because they couldn't take the show's incredibly gutsy moves. One of the show's strengths is taking overused storylines and giving them a fresh and invigorated new shot at life. The ongoing arc this season between Ephram's love for Amy and her comatose boyfriend Colin Hart regaining his self and wanting to be Ephram's friend, is one cool example. The show is intelligently and creatively written, and is one of the most beautifully shot shows on television. Treat Williams has been given one heck of a career resurgence. He is so perfect for the show and this is really his moment. Where's his Emmy nod?. Tom Amandes as Dr. Abbott is right up there. He made his character a pompous fuss bucket and then turned him into a real human being who isn't all he seems. The banter and wars between him and Andy are priceless and are about as enjoyable as you can get. Episodes here range from the great to the fantastic. Some include the brilliant "Episode 20", a show about abortion. What happens is an impeccably written episode that shows both sides and different angles of the subject and it's choices. Well done. Other highlights include "A Thanksgiving Tale", "Is There A Doctor In The House", "The Kissing Bridge", "Colin The Second", and the fantastic finale, "Home". The kids here are all very well presented. Gregory Smith is a real find. A great repreentation of a young kid who isn't perfect and has issues. Emily Van Camp as Amy is his equal. Those big pretty doe eyes are nice too!. The WB should be proud. It has a show that is for everyone, and doesn't shy away from important topics. Nor does it cookie cutter it either. It's honest, tender, funny, realistic, life affirming, and brave. You will enjoy your trip to the rocky environs of Everwood. A place that you will want to visit again season after season. Enjoy your stay.

Stuning & beautiful film with an engaging story

This is the best film I have ever watched. It is too bad we can't see this film in theaters in the US. I bought a region 3 DVD of Hero from a Chinese book store. I almost bought an all-region DVD player, just for this film, until I realized that my Game Shark allowed me to play this DVD on PS2. You need a really big TV or a projector with DTS receiver to truly appreciate this film (I have S-video and fiber-optic cables for PS2)
Two aspects of this film captured my full attention through out the entire length of this film: stuning/beautiful scenes and the story. The visual effects was like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon combined with Gladiator. And I have not seen any movie with such fascinating story telling in many years.

classic i would watch over and over stephen kings greatest!

we all have different tastes in movies.i think this is an awesome should scare adults out of there wits! The adults (peter horton<<i think thats his name and linda hamilton)play a great couple. The children are great. The main children are Isaac,Malachi,Joby,Sarah,Rachel and Amos(amos is mentoned and rachel is in the 6th)John Franklin plays an excellent Isaac on this 1 and on COTC666. Basically this movie is about a couple who run into a group of savage children who worship their god He Who Walks Behind The Rows. There is blood. A few curses but no sex or nudity. If your a horror fanatic (and an adult) I suggest you try this one out. If you like it, you should go straight to the 6th one cuz the others aren't that great. They r ok but not as good as this and the 6th.I think Isaac (or John Franklin)steals the show with great acting. The 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th have nothing to do with Isaac. The worse 1 i have to say is the 4th. I don't think they mention He Who Walks Behind The Rows.Try this one out unless your scared! Happy Harvesting!

Twin Peaks DVD in November 2000

Where do I begin? There are no definable words to describe this amazing achievement in creativity. There never has, and never will be any piece of American culture(music, film,TV,ART)anywhere near this in terms of genius. The whole atmosphere is just the way I picture the afterlife(heaven?) to be. Agent Dale Cooper is the best character in the history of TV. Laura Palmer's death and the investigation of it are completely enthralling on so many levels. Every character in their own way is unique, funny, scary(BOB),beautiful and perfect. The accompanying soundtrack is absolutely hypnotic. At the risk of sounding like an obsessed freak, I must have watched this whole series at least 30 times, and still look forward to it every week. I rarely watch network TV any more, because this series has spoiled me beyond belief. The X-Files.........PLLLLEASE! If you're waiting for the next great network TV drama, that compares even remotely to TWIN PEAKS,you can commit suicide right now...........BECAUSE IT AIN'T COMING FOLKS!
