Loved It

I loved this movie! The senery was very outstanding and unique. The actors were awesome. Jim Carrey did a very good job playing Count Olaf. Emily Brownaing was amazing at playing Violet. Liam Aiken did an outstanding job at playing Klaus. Sunny was very cute throughout the whole movie. They picked the actors perfectly! I really enjoyed the movie. I was very excited when I found out that they were making the movie. I have seen this movie 4 times and down right loved it!

This is coming from a modern-day teenager, so be prepared...

A couple of nights ago, I couldn't fall asleep, so I decided to try and find something interesting on the television. I had seen Pretty in Pink a while ago, and, while not really loving the thing as a whole, I thought Ducky was friggin awesome. So I decided to give this one a chance, hoping that it would be at least decent...

After about the first ten minutes, I entirely forgot that the thing was from the eighties. All of it was so real, and the emotions were awesome. I'm not a big fan of Molly Ringwald, but I liked her in this movie. And, while I favor Charlie Sheen over Emilio Estevez, he actually did well in this movie.

But my favorite was most definitely Judd Nelson, who played Bender. I challenge any girl to watch this movie to come away without having a crush on this guy. It doesn't really kick in until the end, when he's almost crying in the closet...

When "Don't You (Forget About Me)" started playing at the end, I was almost crying (during the course of the movie, I had gone from lying down on my bed, to sitting up, to crawling onto the floor, to about ten inches in front of the screen). And when Bender walks across the football field...

God, this is an awesome movie.

Astonishing Voice, Ingratiating Performer

I have always wanted to visit New Zealand. Now, after seeing Russel Watson's video, filmed in New Zealand, I wish I had been there for that concert. Fantastic! His "guest artists" were also superb, as were the choruses. This concert is a "must see" for any Russell Watson fans.

The Outer Limits - The Original Series, Season 1 - movie DVD cover picture
Very Impressive!!

When this series premiered in 1963, I was a curious 5 year old boy seeking a sense of watching things which knowingly, scare me to death(which was why I slept at night with my head under the covers). Each week I would be eager to tune in to hear the control voice to see what monsterous creature was lurking on The Outer Limits. Since recently purchasing this DVD, it was refreshing to see these classic episodes and even those I had missed during its original run. The picture quality is clear and crisp, with the sound being superb like the series was produced within a last few months. If you are a true fan of the awe and mysteries of science fiction, you won't be disappointed with this DVD. My only question now is when the heck will the second and final season of The Original Outer Limits be coming to DVD?? I can hardly wait!!

For all Led Zeppelin Fans and Rock fans in general

I cannot add more words than what the other viewers have already posted. I do want to say that this DVD simply surpassed all my expectations on what I would see and hear from this DVD. The concerts, TV appearances, etc. are excellent. I especially loved it when they showed them from the very early years when they were young, lean and mean. The later years still showed their veracity, but also their improvement on their performances(Musically that is).It is a far cry better than "The Song Remains the Same".

Edward Scissorhands (10th Anniversary Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
The best movie of all time!

One of the movies that serves as a cornerstone for Tim Burton's career, this fairy tale has all of the right elements in all of the right proportions. The suburban wasteland that surrounds Edward is properly grotesque, and the character is wonderfully na?ve and sympathetic. Anthony Michael Hall as the good-looking bully is a little over-the-top, but I guess the whole movie is, so what am I complaining about? The bittersweet ending works fairly well, although it seems to emphasize Winona over Depp a little too much for my tastes. The great element throughout the movie is the blas? treatment of Edward, who's clearly not quite human, by the suburban husbands and wives. They regard him as a curiosity, but are limited in their interactions with him by the strict confines of their own social mores and interests. They want to incorporate him into their world while remaining totally ignorant of who he is and what he thinks. The conflicts and misunderstandings that grow from this are what grabbed me, I think.

Perfectly Orchestrated Classic

At first when I saw this movie, I wasn't a huge Anime fan. I saw the old version with the old voices before it was digitally remastered. I was blown away!!! The movie was just awesome. The voice overs were perfectly matched to the adjacent character, everything was just perfect in the movie. It took me about 2 to 3 times watching it to totally get full grasp of the plot line, but when I did, I was blown away yet again.
It came out on DVD and I was so happy that it was digitaized and the visuals got even better. The voices were a little different but still excellent. I watch the DVD of Akira all the time and it one of my favorie movie's over all time. Definately in my top 3. So to anyone who thinks this movie sucks, give it another try because I have seen Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, and Ghost in the Shell and only one of them have even come close to Akira, and that is Ghost in the Shell, but, since I am not writiing a review on that movie, let me just say once again, Akira is the King of all Anime movies, and this may be a pipe dream, but maybe a sequel just as good will come out soon.

A Perfect World - movie DVD cover picture
Extraordinary character study

A Perfect World has been one of those curious movies relegated to the back bins of the video stores.Unlike its american cousins{the over the-top action genre} this movie is quiet, almost introspective{as introspective as cinema can be}. Costner plays an escaped excon{with a young boy in tow} Eastwood a grizzled Texas ranger.Nothing is as it seems. The boy is escaping from a abusive home, Eastwood is a man growing apart from the changing world. Costner's noble fallen angel is the best performance that he has ever given. Compared to his wooden WYATT EARP or his empty JFK,this is an exceptional leap, textured, nuanced. Perhaps it is Eastwoods direction. Laura Dern as a criminologist is [as always]excellent, thoughtthis movie belongs to the two leads. There is little"action" per se,, {the ending of the movie is apparent in the opening scene}though the dialogue is excellent and understated,as is the entire film. Next to UNFORGIVEN,this is the best film Easwood has done, and certainly, the most interesting.
