Losing Patience Waiting For This...

The original Jonny Quest series should be released as a box set on DVD. What could possibly be causing the delay releasing this? If Underdog, Speed Racer and Rocky & Bullwinkle can be released, there is no excuse for not releasing the best action cartoon ever made - Jonny Quest. Please remaster the episodes and release all 26!

very good.

yeah both these are good but its really all about the photo. great to see some of milt hinton's cine footage from the day and other fotos too. the stories are all good from the musicians interviewed even if the photographer does come across a bit of a pratt sometimes. well worth it if you are a jazz fan or appreciate modern history.

A must for any Nez fan!

A wonderful concert that you will view time and time again. Nez seemed to be having a wonderful time when he was performing that night at the Britt Festival. I have seen him live and he was pretty much the same here as he was when I saw him perform in concert. Nothing flashy in the way he performs, but along with some nice stories behind the songs Nez pleasantly gives the viewer a great 80 minutes of music. The sound is great if you have a surround sound system. What are you waiting for? If you like the music of Michael Nesmith I recommend you purchase this DVD right now!

I have to say that this is an impressive DVD. You get the entire Crazy World Tour video, the First Sting video, plus bits and pieces of 'To Russia With Love'.
I do wish they would have just combined both videos back to back like Def Leppard did with their DVDs, but it's still awesome. The only annoying thing is in between the live songs, the screen fades and the other songs start. I don't know if the original Crazy World video had this or not, but it's annoying.
Of course this DVD has Wind Of Change on it. I finally saw it after seeing it once like 11 years ago on MTV when I was younger. I'm only 22. It did not disappoint me.
Overall the only disappointment I have is that the scorps cut out a lot of footage that made 'To Russia with Love' great. If only they would combine all their vhs videos. First Sting, World Wide Live, To Russia With Love, & Crazy World. That would be a bonus!!
Holla if ya hear me

first rate psychological thriller

I was listening to the Movie Show on Radio one Saturday as I was working on my truck, when I heard Mad Max Weiss mention that The Sixth Sense had one of the most surprising endings of any movie. That did it, I had to rent it.
Staring Bruce Willis as child psychologist Malcolm Crowe and Haley Osment and the disturb child Cole Sear, The Sixth Sense is both a psychological thriller and a horror movie at the same time. Terrifying visions of dead people haunts the child, Cole. He has learned to repress what he sees for fear of being called insane. So at first, we see it as a psychological thriller. Later, we learn that the visions are real, so perhaps we are watching a horror flick, but as the move progresses it never degenerates into a silly horror movie, but keeps its psychological edge.
Although Bruce Willis is one of my favorite actors, I am afraid that I have underestimated his acting ability. This is an outstanding movie that grabs your attention and does not let go until the final credits roll. And the ending, oh yes, it was a surprise- I did not see it coming. If you have not seen this movie, rent it now. You will want to watch it several times. It is that good. Not a movie for the faint of heart or your wee ones- it will give them nightmares for a week; but if you are looking for a first rate psychological thriller you may want to add this to your DVD collection.

A Movie For Our Time!

I saw this movie again recently for the first time since its release in 1976. It should be required viewing for politicians who are now residing in Washington as well as reporters for big-city newspapers if you believe that those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it. As everyone knows unless he or she is from Mars, this movie is about the great book ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, two young Washington Post reporters. Theses fiesty, courageous men through their hammering away at the Watergate scandal with their relentless stories played a major role in the fall of one Richard Nixon.
Robert Redford as Woodward and Dustin Hoffman as Berstein are superb with Hoffman only occasionally playing himself. Jason Robards makes an excellent Ben Bradlee, editor of the Washington Post. The movie looks and feels like a documentary. There are great shots of Washington. Actual footage from current political events are juxtaposed with other scenes from the film. The movie ends with a closeup of a TV screen with Nixon's being sworn in to a second term. You see Berstein and Woodward in the background furiously typing away. Then there are closeups of headlines being typed on electric typewriters of all the president's men and what happened to them. Then we see the finale: that Richard Nixon resigns as president. A great ending.
As I watched this movie, it occurred to me that Nixon might not have been brought down were it not for the courage of a few good people, including "Deep Throat." We can only hope that there are still honest people in both government and the media who believe that it is important to tell the truth regardless of the consequences.

Thanks to him, I'm a scientist

I agree with all positive reviews (I could find no neg one...) and all the points they made, and I'd like to add my "testimony": I saw the series a little later than you (in Brazil it was aired in 82, I think), and it made a strong impression in me. As a 8 years old, I was profoundly touched by everything, but specially the second chapter, "Uma voz na fuga c?smica" in Portuguese. And I made my parents buy the book, although by them I could understand nearly nothing of what was written there (during subsequent re-reads I got more and more...). From the TV series, I never forgot that animated sequence of evolving organisms. Nowadays I am a biologist (specialized in molecular systematistics and evolution), going to a post-doc in the US. I wish Dr. Sagan were alive so I could thank him for his great share of responsibility in the course of my professional life.
I recommend the DVD, the Book, and I am also pleased to see there is the soundtrack on CD, which I recommend as well (I still have an old tape with the soundtrack I copied from a cousin's LP)!

Decent documentary but definitely not a Chappelle comedy

If you think you're getting a Dave Chappelle stand-up comedy video with "OPEN MIC", then think again. This is a behind-the-scenes documentary about the often unfunny business of trying to make it as a stand-up comedian. The producers have done a credible job in presenting interviews with a dozen or so comedians and wanna-be's. But there's not many laughs in what seems to be a very cut-throat business. Yes, Dave Chappelle is one of the interviewees, sans humor. But personally, I found the somber observations of Chappelle to be revealing and potentially insightful to the "real man behind the mask" which otherwise is seldomly seen (if ever) for Chappelle. Director Jason Dudek seems talented and promising.
