"Appreciate the situation": It is one of the best films ever

This movie is by far one the greatest of all films. This is largely due in part to its superior screenplay and dialogue. The movie is loaded with various motiffs and symbols. The overall theme of the movie is the psychological transformation of T.E.Lawrence. The switch of personalities between Lawrence and Ali is all too apparent. Lawrence after all, suffers an identity crisis throughout the film. Lawrence first starts off as a humble soldier. Once he undergoes his mission to "appreciate the situation" he states that he will accomplish a "miracle" which he eventually does. From there he compares himself to Moses as he crosses Sinai. He eventually goes so far as to compare himself to Christ as he walks in splendor and transfigured white on top of the train. He shortly thereafter states that he will "walk on water". He however not only comes back down to earth, but he sinks to the bottom, covered with mud and filth after his rape by the Turks. He even goes so far as to cover himself with a filthy cloak. He however cannot cover the bloody scars on his back (this is about as close to Christ as he gets), which are a result of the Turks' torture.

I will not proceed to describe the rest of the deep elements of the movie. Just bare in mind that the movie begins with a motorcycle and ends with one. The more you see the film the more you will love and understand it. It is this quality which sets movies apart. Those who claim the movie is boring are those who do not "appreciate the situation". They need to read more literature.

The Negotiator - movie DVD cover picture
Great suspense thriller

Can you go wrong when you pair together Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey, two talented actors who just exude coolness? Only if you cast them as bushes.
The movie begins with a negotiation that takes all of fifteen minutes, to set you up for the negotiation that will last the rest of the movie. Samuel L. Jackson is a wrongly accused negotiator (a top-notch one) who uncovers a corrupt cop ring, and in desperation, takes several people hostage to discover the truth. This is just one brilliantly ironic idea: a negotiator taking people hostage. Of course, then, there are the great scenes where Jackson mocks the negotiator trying to talk him down. There is also another great scene where he discusses how you can tell someone is lying. Well, eventually, we get Kevin Spacey, another top-notch negotiator who steals every scene he's in, unless he's in it with Jackson, in which case they tie. And then the movie really kicks off. You're in for some surprises. While the conspiracy is sometimes hard to follow, none of the tenseness is lost. Intermittently, we get some action sequences to liven things up a bit, which keeps the movie from becoming too slow-paced. Director Gray does a good job of giving the right views at the right time. Jackson and Spacey deliver convincing, exciting performances.
Bottom line: Interesting, twisty script. Top-notch actors. Good direction. What more could you ask for?

This is of course Kubrick's best film. It's amazingly gorgeous and features a great sound track. Film critics in the 1970s totally misunderstood it because Kubrick was twenty years ahead of his time. Highly recommended.

I thougth it was great!

Misty is my favorite character! I think meowth and pikachu are SOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!! I love cats, and even though I think the mix of cat and mouse is a little old for these shows it works. I also like team rockets theme is good. Other then the denouns the evils of truth and love. Well... not the truth part.

Rushmore is good

I loved this movie. It is much better than Ferris Buellers day off. Some of the silent scenes have more impact than the spoken ones. This is mainly due to the great acting and directing. Wes Anderson is the man.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed - Grim Reality (Vol. 1) - movie DVD cover picture
Where it all begins again.

In the tradition of previous "Alternate Universe" Gundam sagas like Gundam Wing, Gundam SEED has takes place in its own world, connected only thematically to the many other series. Fans of the original Gundam will no doubt experience some deja vu as a silver-masked man leads a raid on a colony where Earth's prototype mobile suits are being built, and most of the crew of a distinctive white battleship are killed, leaving junior officers and civilians to take command. But SEED is not a mere rehash, it has its own twists on the old formula.

This time, the war is between the genetically-modified "Coordinators" of ZAFT and Earth Alliance, dominated by un-modified "Naturals". Like Zeon in the original series, ZAFT is heavily outnumbered but make up the difference with their revolutionary mobile suits, which are far superior to Earth's mobile armors (unlike the mighty behemoths of previous series, SEED's "mobile armors" are merely small fighter craft). In response, Earth forces secretly develop advanced mobile suits on the supposedly neutral colony Heliopolis. But ZAFT discovers their effort, and masked ace Rau Le Creuset leads his team on a bold mission to steal the Gundams. While attempting to escape the attack, young student Kira Yamato (a Coordinator who's not part of ZAFT) and the mysterious Cagalli stumble into the mobile suit hanger. Kira unwittingly finds himself in the cockpit of the Strike Gundam, and discovers that the ZAFT pilot who stole one of the others, the Aegis Gundam, is his childhood friend Athrun Zala. Meanwhile, Rau is attacked by mobile armor ace Mwu La Flaga, who he has apparently fought many times before. And soon, the battle between Kira and the ZAFT forces results in the complete destruction of Heliopolis. Kira and his friends join with Mwu and the few remaining crew members of the battleship Archangel, attempting to evade Rau's fleet and escape to Earth.

Just to see him perform the songs "Stollin" (reminds me of Harry Connick, Jr) and "Gotta Broken Heart Again" is worth every cent. Get this one to add it to your collection or start one.
