Like nothing else you've ever seen...and hilarious, too.

Actually, I don't know what was more fun - watching Thora Birch's excellent acting in this movie, or reading the one-star reviews posted here on amazon[.com] from people who didn't like the film. I agree that 'Ghost World' is an acquired taste.
The one scene that sticks in my head is the series of encounters Birch's Enid has when she decides to give it go as counter help at a movie concession stand. Her snarky, jaded look at the world results in a series of hilarious "customer friendly" interactions. And...she's out of there. It's a perfect set of takes by Birch.

An awesome movie, that you won't get tired of watching!

Having lived in Alexandria VA from 1962 to 1979, and graduated from GWHS, I had difficulty watching this movie as a true story. In fact, it is very loosely based on fact. Once I put that aside, I was able to enjoy a spirited story of the difficult process of overcoming superficial differences and finding the heart of another. This movie works well to that end. The interactions between Yoast and Boone and Bertier and Campbell are classic. At times it waxes melodramatic, such as the scene where Lastic learns that he has gone from a failing status to college material in one football season!
Just for the record, Alexandria was an "All American City" in 1971 and racial integration first took place in the mid 60's. The tensions in the three schools merging had a lot more to do with the fact that three bitter rivals had just become one school.
This is definitely a video worth owning and enjoying. It is good clean fun and promotes the message that we need to talk with each other and not allow the outward appearances to keep us apart. Enjoy the show.

double the number of stars!!!

Fist of all, I'd like to say I'm a huge DMB fan. I don't own this DVD, however I will soon. It shows some great footage of Dave (guitarist and lead vocals) and Boyd Tinsley(Violinist) playing side by side as they're known to do at live shows. I borrowed it just recently from a friend and wow! Thanks to this video, and the awesome options of being able to view different angles on certain songs, I've managed to learn how to play a few of the songs. The DMB crew really know how to put together great videos, concerts, cd's ect. This DVD includes some of the best songs by DMB. After being at 3 of their live shows (6-23-00 , 6-29-00 , 12-4-00) and seeing this DVD, I must say it's almost as good as going to the show... I highly recommend you consider this DVD, especially after they've just won the "Best Live Act" award on the VH1's My Music Awards Show (also, won the best fansite, a dmb fansite, at the awards show).

Laurie Strode (Jaime Lee) Takes No Prisoners !!!!!

Without a doubt, the best sequel in the series. They should have brought Jaime Lee Curtis back in the fold a long time ago. I liked the opening scene with the original nurse who was with Dr. Loomis in the first movie. H2O was definately worth $8.50. Rent parts 1 & 2 before renting H2O. I thought it was interesting that there was no mention of Jamie Cruthers - aka Danielle Harris (from parts 4,5)it would have been nice to tie up "all" loose ends.

Excellent Historical Document!

"Birth of a Nation" is the classic movie from D.W. Griffith which shows two families (north and south) during the Civil War and the Reconstruction era. The first half is the best, as it shows the Civil War, with beauty and drama, climaxing with a sweeping Confederate charge towards the end of the war and then Lincoln's assassination. I especially love the portrayal of Lincoln as the sad martyr dealing with all of the issues of his administration, and the portrayal of his assassination is excellent. The second half, Reconstruction and the birth of the Ku Klux Klan, however, is disgusting and a little frightening, serves very well as a historical artifact showing the feeling and mentality at the turn of the century. Remember the sickingly racist day these people were living in when they made this is a product of the time, and I recommend it for anyone who wants to witness the ignorance of the turn of the century. But all in all, "Birth of a Nation" gets a thumbs up in my mind. Get out there and see it, if you want to see a great historical document!

Great Series !!!

Just as the previous four season have been stunning with great character development. Season five continues the great saga that is Highlander. Season five contains great stories of "4 Horseman of the Apocalypse" and the great Evil that comes every 1,000 years. Of course there will be great commentary interviews and add clips of writers/directors/cast adding background insight about filming the episodes.

I was stunned when I walked through the store and saw renegade on the shelf. I looked and saw that anchor bay put the show out and I happened to email anchor bay last year and suggested that they put the show out on dvd, I dont know if it was me that brought the idea up but thank you anchor bay. This was one of the best shows on tv. Guns, Hot Girls, and MotorCycles, What more can a guy ask for in a show. When this show was on tv it didnt have a huge following but now that its on dvd I'm sure people will see it for what it is, one of the best tv shows made. I hope all the rest of the series is released because they cant give me season one and not the rest, I'll go nuts. Keep it up Anchor Bay.

The mythic past meets the modern world

I have been intrigued by Greenland ever since I read Peter Hoeg's novel "Smilla's Sense of Snow." That's what attracted me to this film, and while I'm glad I saw it--and enjoyed it--it's not entirely successful. Performances are uneven and there are holes in the story that beg to be filled. Nevertheless, the Greenlandic landscapes of the second half are breathtaking, and it's interesting to see a story about a different culture told by someone OF that culture. It's certainly worth a watch.

One of The Best Movies of All Time!

What can I say? This movie is simply one of the best ever made. The acting is superb- Clark Gable at his best. You can't go wrong with a story like that- so daring for it's time (a liberated woman protagonist? gasp!) Altogether fantastic. It's sad that Margaret Mitchell didn't live to see how the popularity of her book/movie has endured into the 21st century, and is now maybe stranger than ever. Great great great movie. See it.

sounds like a good horror/thirller movie.

I've heard about this movie and it seems creepy. To me is sounds like a good popcorn/friday night movie, not too scary not too dull, just right for the desperate viewer.
