Laughed so hard that our dog barked at us, joining in!

Roberto B's being anyone's idea of a serial killer is a hilarious premise. Of course, he's really just his usual super klutz self but tell that to the Roman police and their psychiatrist who are convinced he's "the one". RB's real life wife plays a police operative who moves in with him to see if she can get him "to crack" so she can shoot him. Non-stop howling laughter. He reminds us of a combination of a young Charlie Chaplin and a young Woody Allen.

Beautiful Art by Don Bluth and Co

This is a masterpiece in my opinion. It is very sad indeed that the work is not in widescreen. However, even in fullscreen format, the light and shade in this movie... both in the art, and in the drama... is superb.
The absence of songs is not a problem; children have more power of discernment than they are given credit for, and if the sequels ( which I also love) had no songs, and concentrated on the story more directly, then they would appeal more to Adults as well as children.
This first film laid a high production value that the studio has failed to stick to, or even surpass.
I suspect that we have either wacko conservative parents, or some biased screen testing to thank for the sequels that fail to live up to the quality of the first film.
Don't get me wrong, I love the sequels enough to have bought everyone I have been aware of, and to date, I think I have missed only 2-3.
I would not class this film as either an Adult or a child's film; simply put, a good film is a good film, and Don Bluth does a great job.
The songs in the sequels are clearly for cross-merchandising... which I don't deny is a legitimate sales point for the studio. However, it does denigrate the memory of the first beautiful film; if they could release the film in its widescreen format, I suspect it would sell like the proverbial hot-cakes.
And, as moving as the first film is, I also find many of the sequels quite emotionally charged, but then I tend to approach these film as a child would view them ... they touch the heart, and this first film does that on many levels.

Super comedy!

THE GREAT RACE (1965) is an excellent movie. Interesting to make one about the early 1900's. Jack Lemmon is great in his "Professor Fate" role. Peter Falk does well as Max. This also includes Vivian Vance from I LOVE LUCY in a small role. This includes the biggest pie fight I've ever seen. This movie is more like a cartoon than a live-action film. This movie is 100% recommended.

Three Kings of the Screen

Bogey, Edward G and Barrymore!! Who needs to say more. The most sinister gangster scene ever was first seeing Robinson sitting in the bathtub reading the newspaper with that big black cigar jutting out of his mouth. WOW. Bogey plays a classic macho type hero balancing out Robinson's ruthlessness. The supporting cast is fabulous. One of my all time favorites.

It's full of quotable material...

Well, while I read the book(you could check my review on it),I didn't really want to see the movie.I prefer to read science fiction. But I did end up watching it and I was impressed. The quality of acting and the make-up of the actors was superb. It is different from the book in a few key points, but it made the movie very good, which isn't how it is usually. Most of the things said are great quotes, and the humor(or is it satire) is sharp. And the ending was great! Except I do not understand what was the logic of putting it on the cover and showing it in the beginning...

What a GREAT movie!!!

Dead Poets Society is an extremely uplifting and inspiring movie. Robin Williams plays the part as Mr. Keating who teaches his students to think for themsleves and live extraordinary lives. He told them the phrase "Carpe Diem" meaning "Sieze the Day" and make their lives exciting because it is only a short period of time. His influence was far greater than any teacher I have ever seen. If I had a teacher that cool I would actually look forward to going to school each day.

Another Selleck Masterpiece

I don't know what it is about this film that mkes me watch it whenever it appears on my TV screen. Maybe it's F. Murray Abraham as a wise convict, or David Raasche as an over-the-top crooked cop. Whatever it is I like it. Probably panned by most critics, An Innocent Man is most effective when it deals with Tom Selleck's stay in prison and the steps he has to take to survive. The movie also has the great line, delivered by drug boss Donatelli, "I'll kill you and I'll kill your families. And I'll do it in pieces." Too bad doesn't carry the movie. Maybe it will be re-issued in the future.
