Laughed out loud

I really enjoyed this funny movie last nite. Very entertaining and hilarious. Fast moving mixed with many stars from the Doctor in the mountains to the beautiful Catherine and Julia. The ex- husband was very good and the boy friend very funny with his accent.

One of the finest Arthurian films!!!

Having never really been exposed much to any Authurian tales (outside of Monty Python and the Holy Grail), I came across this film on television. I was mesmerized immediately. This was not the story of a the sword and the stone as told to children. This was a fantastic tale of power, love, lust, greed, and eternal mysteries. Angelica Houston is wonderfully awe-inspiring as the Lady of the Lake. Her performance is commanding and sensitive at the same time. Julianna Margulies's portrayal of Morgaine is the very heart of the story and she is excellent. The countryside settings, the costumes, the language... all of it is very real and makes you feel as though you could live there too. And I wish I did. You won't be disappointed.

A Rollercoaster Ride for Your Brain

One of the best movies of the last 10 years or so, alongside The Sixth Sense, Memento, The Usual Suspects, and Twelve Monkeys. If you are the type to pay attention to details and are willing to accept that what you are seeing may not be the actual truth, this may be the movie for you. (Along those lines, you may also want to check out Mulholland Drive, but it's a bit more whacked in the head.) If you pick up the movie just because Tom Cruise (or Penelope Cruz) turns you on, but don't want to think much beyond that, go rent Legend again. (That's a very pretty Cruise movie that has a comic book plot that a five year old can understand.) Mind you, EVERYTHING is eventually explained in Vanilla Sky, but it's not given to you like the ending of a Scooby-Doo story where the characters sit around for three or four minutes summing up the whole plot for the second-grade mentality. This is don't-stop-paying-attention material, and, like Memento, even better upon a second viewing. *****

great western

You can see by the title that I am a John Wayne fan, and this rip-roaring Western is one of the reasons why. With equal portions of rousing action, humor, and drama, this film keeps your interest and, like the Duke's performance, never loses its authenticity. It's said that John Wayne took over direction of some of the action sequences, and they're great. There are well-drawn, clear differences between the good buys and bad guys, but the characters are human and developed enough for the actors to sink their teeth into, which all do with gusto. By this time in his career, the Duke only had to show up on screen to be the authentic Western hero, but as usual he goes 'way beyond that, giving a colorful, humorous, absolutely real and terrific performance as the Texas Ranger who helps a man on the wrong side of the law redeem himself and find the woman he loves--as well as stopping a motley, dangerous bunch of white renegades (Comancheros) who are selling weapons to warring Comanche Indians. It's great movie-making and a great couple of hours with the Duke, so check it out!

Great film!

This film has nothing to do with the Rolling Stones' 1971 hit of the same title. This film involves urban styles of music, mostly rap and hip-hop. This film is set at first in 1984,when breakdancing was a big thing. Great film!

I love John Lennon

Upon John Lennon's death in 1980, thousands and thousands of mourners gathered in new york city and wept together. As I watched grown men break down and young girls bawl their eyes out, I could only do the same. The loss of John from this world is too great a loss to bear and the only thing I can do when thinking of it is weep. All we can do now is cherish his legacy, his message of peace and love and his beautiful beautiful music and pass them on to others.
I am a huge, huge, huge Beatles fan. I own every Beatles record and I have a wall in my room dedicated to them. But John...John went past the Beatles. He was a philosopher, a poet, and a brilliant man. He invented the concept of Bagism, one that I completely understand and live by. He was also one of the most if not the most active peace activists and anti-war human beings this world has ever seen. Few have been more passionately against world wide conflict and worked harder for it to cease. And he did play a part in ending one of the most unnecessary wars this country has ever seen.
This documentary successfully captures the essence of John and gives those who did not know him a small glimpse into who he was. I strongly recommend watching this to any Beatles fan or fan of John Lennon. It is a wonderful, poignant film that will provoke tears from you.
LENNON LIVES ON.

An interesting, enjoyable 'what-if' whodunnit

Peter Bogdanovitch skillfully retells one of Hollywood's great legends, of an apparent murder carried out on media tycoon William Randolph Hearst's yacht in September, 1924. Kirstin Dunst is brilliantly cast as Hearst's lifelong mistress, actress Marion Davies, and the supporting cast in this fluid, Altman-esque ensemble piece is also quite strong. The script could have been more merciless towards Hearst (longtime nemesis of Bogdanovitch's patron, Orson Welles), but the humanity it imparts on the bazillionaire is what makes this a real film, and not just another movie. Nice to see an old pro back in the saddle!

Great to use with your own music, too!

I am a professional speaker to weight loss groups. I've talked to a number of people who LOVE to put on this DVD, turn the sound down, put on music they love (or a book on tape), and just follow the program while listening to whatever they enjoy. Because the moves are so easy, it's easy to combine the two. I tried it, and it works great.

The forgetten movie of 2002

"Moonlight mile" is kind of an autobiographical movie by director Brad Silbering, who had previously directed "City of angesl" and tv series "Felicity" and "NYPD blue". So, he knows what to do to transport real emotions into the screen.
When his fianc? is accidentaly shot and murdered a few days before their marriage, Joe's (Jake Gyllenhaal) life seems at a loose end: he's not sure he wants to live with her parents (Dustyn Hoffman and Susan Sarandon), and he won't be able to leave them. He decides to stick for a while to see what's going to happen next, and even with a huge guilt feeling, he's able to discover new things in town.
"Moonlight mile" is a movie about how to overcome a terrible loss. It's about people helping each other in any way they can, even if they're doing everythng wrong, but they're doing it because they love each other. And, what's most incredible, this movie, unlike "In the bedroom" (another terrific movie), which is about the same subject, has a positive and forward view of the matter. Silbering was able to give his characters (he's also the writer of the script) the three-dimension they needed to make a movie like this work. Excellent performances by Hoffman and Sarandon unfortunately didn't get the attention they deserved. A good surprise (at least for me) were the two younger actors, Gyllehaal and Ellen Pompeo. This difficult movie seemed a walk in the park for them.
"Moonlight mile" is touching and interesting, and, at least concerning the characters' reactions, motives and feelings, one of the best movies I've seen recently, even if there are some obvious scenes and sub-plots in the film.
