LIAM NEESON proves he is an ACTING GOD!

Should have won best actor for this role; hands down!

Great, innovative storytelling; other than completely avoiding that Kinsey was an Atheist, this movie hits a great balance of humor, storytelling, drama, documentary, and education. A work of film genius. In many ways much better than MDB and way beyond Avaitor. But this is not a PC movie by any means such that it was ignored by the Awarding Gods. Big Mistake!

Crossroads has much to offer for "Blues" fans

Crossroads will always have many fans including new fans daily. Anyone I know that has seen this movie, loves it as I do. The search for Robert Johnson's "Lost Song" was an excellent main story-line; but it was also filled with friendship, romance, evil, history, several styles of music, drama, fun & an ending with super hot dueling guitars. I don't understand why the editorial reviewers didn't get very excited about the movie. Maybe they just don't care for "Blues". I would love to see Ralph Machio in more movies.

Willard - movie DVD cover picture

It's always baffled me that when Academy Award nominations are made, the "horror" genre is sadly overlooked. They think, "How can an actor in a horror or science fiction movie compare with a classical drama or action movie?" There have been some tremendously wonderful performances from actors in films like WILLARD. Crispin Glover's eerily deranged performance as the title character is brilliant. If anyone can embody the warped psychology of Willard, Glover is the one to bring it to its most adequate fruition. From the moment we meet Willard, we can tell he is a loner, a young man trapped in a world of silence, loneliness, self flagellation, and a mother he loves/hates. Once he befriends Socrates and the other rats, he becomes more of a person, feeling comfortable with friends that appreciate and obey him. Glover's demonic outbursts work mainly because we can feel and sense the rage he's holding in, and when it explodes, it's with a demon's wrath. Glover shines in this role, and should have been considered for an Oscar.
The rest of the cast is superflous, although R. Lee Ermey's turn as Frank Martin as Willard's heartless boss, is one of this usually deadpan actor's best. Laura Harring is good as Cathryn, who wants to be Willard's friend; and Jackie Burroughs is frighteningly effective as Willard's possessive mother.
As for the rats, what can I say? I don't know why people come down so hard on CGI effects. Modern technology has allowed films to give us the "image" of something horrible. They looked real enough for me, and I would rather have had that than an inappropriate attempt to corral a thousand real rats.
The inclusion of Michael Jackson's "Ben" while the rats mercilessly pursue and devour Scully the cat is both repulsive and brilliantly executed.
WILLARD is much better than the original and deserved more praise than it got.

The Best

Hi,Everyone,I am s foreign student from Taiwan ,and I am interested in many WWII movies and novels and I have many of them. But I think this movie is a good and real movie. It draw the mental parts of both sides(American and Japanese soldiers).
Not like "Saving private Ryan", it lays more emphasis on deep heart. But it still has enough action and war parts. The scene shocks most is when a dying Japanese officer told to a "gold teeth picking" US soldier "Kisama , shinudayo!(You bastard , go to the hell!)" and the US soldier can't understand what that officer said. However, it seems that in war , even the language is a barrier (the reason why Witt dead--When Witt is surrounded by Japanese brigade , the Japanese officer told him "Anata o koro shi nai(We don't kill you.)".But Witt don't drop the gun.), the inner words and motion can still be understanded.
War is cruel ,but we can find learn amny things from happende wars. And we can have our idea of the price of peace and human rights.
Totally speaking, it's a good film ,and I like it.

Violence over violence

Kubrick really pushed the envelope when releasing this film. This film changed the way we look at movies. Doing the unthinkable, Kubrick at 1971, mixed sex, nudity, violence, and profanity in one and made one of the greatest films ever -- A Clockwork Orange.
This is about the violent near future and the brainwashing government desprate to rid the world of it. Alex (Mcdowell) and his gang spend their nights raping women, robing homes, and beating anyone they can. When Alex is betrayed by his pals, this is sent to prison for manslauter. When he gets the chance to be subject for a government experiment, he jumps at the chance for being released early from prison. He is released from the experiment feeling sick when ever he sees or even thinks about violence, sex, and no. 9.
With the combination of great music, Stanley Kubrick, and a better picture and sound, you've got one great DVD.

Scary as Hell

One of the scariest horror movies of all time. Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness, which followed, were comedies in my opinion. Not that they were not good, actually they are both great in their own rights. But Evil Dead is true horror, I remember seeing this in theaters during a mid-night showing in the `80s and it scared the hell out of everyone. It is even better on DVD. The audio and video have been remastered, this film has never looked this good. The audio commentaries by Sam and Bruce are priceless as well as the excerpts and extras included. This is the only version of this film to own. Folks familiar with Elite will know what I am talking about. Those of you who have not seen an Elite DVD are in for a pleasant surprise.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Collection 0-5 - movie DVD cover picture

I think that this series overall is one of the better anime out there. There are so many to chose from and it is hard without knowledge to chose good from bad. That being said this is the DVD where the series takes a turn. It is still very good. But the mecha action that prevailed in the early episodes starts to drop off. What replaces it is a hell of alot of weridness. Some of it is very cool. Ideas about what the angels are and what is really going on, as well alot that Nerv has been hiding. But it also the beginning of some serious soul searching by Shinji. That would not be so bad if he wasn't such a whiner. Overall I still think the series is good and this DVD is well worth the buy. But be prepared for a different path than the one we started on.

Once, in a very blue moon....

There comes a time when the networks have no more crap to throw our way and must resort to showing quality programing. My friends, this is one of those quality programs. From start to finish Undeclared was the brightest of half hours on television. Naturally Fox had to cancel it to make room for...anyone? anyone? Nope, I can't remember either. You won't be sorry you bought this. You will wish to hell you could go back to college or even just go to college. Five very deserving thumbs up.
