Learn To Knit with Laura-Jean - movie DVD cover picture
Knitting is easy!

Knitting always seemed complicated to me, but this DVD made it fun and easy to learn. I could go directly to the technique I needed (casting off, increasing etc.) with the menu and work at my own pace. The host made it seem fun to learn, and encourages you to not worry about getting it perfect when you're starting out. I was surprised by how much I learned and how easy and fun it was!

An outragously fun 'cult' movie

I first saw this movie on late-night Cinemax in the mid 80's (hosted by Max Headroom) and was immediately captivated by the seeming insanity of this film. It is not a mainstream movie by any means, as it includes a midget King, his oversexed Queen, and topless princess with a whip as well as Danny Elfman as Satan doing his best imitation of Cab Calloway (with Oingo Boingo as his backup band). If you have already seen this, what are you waiting for? If you haven't, same question! It is well worth your time and money.

a must-have for JA fans

Don't miss this if you love the Airplane. Great old TV clips & concert footage, insightful interviews with all band members, the historic concert (1 tune) from the rooftop in NYC, lots of fun!

great movie for a 2 year old

My daughter absolutely loves this movie! She's an Elmo fanatic, so I highly reccomend this for any other Elmophile out there. I myself enjoyed watching it, especially because of Oliver Platt's performance as the Fairy Godperson, and, of course, Grover, who basically steals the whole show. If you enjoy a good Sesame Street movie, you'll definately enjoy this one. It has alot of replay value and the songs are really fun and pleasant, as opposed to irritating and overly repetitive.

Kung Fu Fun In Harlem

This is a real masterpiece of a film. (Bruce) Leroy is just the best. It's got really good action and unforgettable characters. The soundtrack is also BAD (as in good) with songs like "The Glow", and the Motown classic "Rhythm of The Night". I hope this film, like the hopes of many other people, would be released on DVD or at least re-released on video, especially now when kung fu movies seem so popular since Jackie Chan's "Rumble in The Bronx" came out in America. If I saw this on DVD in a video store for sale, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it...sho-nuff!!!

Seabiscuit (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

It is so good to see a movie of substance. We get so few nowadays we have to savor every one. This is an absolutely great movie with 3 exceptional performances, by 3 exceptional guys. Tobey Maguire's performance as the jockey who has been through his share of bumps in the road makes his Spiderman performance look almost weak. Chris Cooper as the down on his luck trainer who gets his big break turns in another exceptionalportrayal. Anyone who does not know Chris Cooper should check up on his resume. He is nothing short of a class act, whom I have raved about in a few other reviews. Jeff Bridges deserves a lifetime achievement award any day now. His role as Seabiscuit's owner is a more than worthy effort if there ever was one. The cinematography is top notch, with some awesome views of the horses as they race and from horseback. The narration, so as to let us live in the timeframe this great horse dwelled in, is a welcome touch. If you are tired of all the overblown, hyped, mechanical garbage that some of the movie studios are putting out nowadays....See this. It gives us all hope. In more ways than one.

Wonderful movie!

This is a wonderful movie about a being who is aiming to restore a crystal to it's whole state before an evil race can gain eternal control over the stars of the universe when the 'three suns' converge. The landscapes are amazing. The overall movie tone is really sweet and enchanting. A somewhat overlooked classic it is.

The best thing that ever happen to disney

This show doesn't look like a disney cartoon cause of the action that's what I like about it so much. The show is back on television which is on channel abc family. The Gargoyles guard a Scottish castle. At day time they turn into stone at night they come to life. Everytime they get mad their eye's being to glow. Goliath is the leader of the gang he make's friends with a beautiful cop from New York City.

Our Hospitality/Sherlock Jr. - movie DVD cover picture
Both movies worth the individual price.

First of all, Sherlock Jr. is a classic. Even if you've never heard of it, you know of it. It's the famous movie where Keaton plays a projectionist who falls asleep during the movie and dreams about entering the frames.

Now whether you're an arthouse fanatic, a comedy geek, or someone who just likes to be entertained, this movie is perfect for you. It contains nothing that makes it seem pretentious, and yet its brilliance is so readily apparent it's understood by anybody. This is certainly a film for everyone, any era, any age.

Our Hospitality isn't nearly as great, but it's still wonderful. The ending scenes with the waterfall are bound to make anyone gasp out loud, and the movie as a whole hurts you with laughter. Definitely a good movie, and definitely worth the price.

Put them together on one DVD, and it's basically a good deal even if it wasn't only about $25. Only if you're one of those people who gets really obsessive about the formatting of the DVD, beware that the interactive menues are a bit odd. Nothing to get frustrated over, just odd.
