Kids & Exercise

This is a great addition to the video/dvd library. As a working mom, living in the city its hard to find ways to bring exercise into my son's routine. Its not like it was when I was growing up when you'd head off on your bike in the morning for a day of active adventures. I'm constantly scheduling activity and exercise into the day - to help keep weight under control and create healthy exercise habits - this video is a huge help. Its a great way to get kids interested in yoga and in taking care of their bodies. My son especially likes having the "hip hop" breaks . He's looking forward to more videos like this.

One of my favorite comedies every - great soundtrack!

This is one of my favorite comedy movies ever. The cast is absolutely delightful and I embrace them even more with each viewing. I agree with other reviewers that the Northern accents were a bit thick the first time I saw the film, but did not present any language barriers after the first few minutes or on subsequent viewings. The film features wonderful performances by Robert Carlyle (if you liked him in the Full Monty, be sure to check out his poignant role in Go Now), Mark Addy and Tom Wilkinson. The rehearsal scenes are the best, set to a great soundtrack (I bought that, too!). Many of the one-liners are priceless. It may not be for everyone, but I've probably watched it at least 20 times (okay, I know, get a life). It really is fun enough to watch that many times.

Hitchcock: The master of....everything!

Mild mannered secretary Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) is in a position where she's practically begged to steal $40,000 - her employer gives it to her to put it in the bank right after her boyfriend Sam (John Gavin) tells her he can't marry her because he's in debt. She packs her bags and leaves town; en route she's caught in a thunderstorm and checks in at the Bates Motel. She's greeted by Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) a shy but friendly young man whose possessive "Mother" doesn't share in his liking for the young woman. Norman brings her her a late supper and they have a talk which convinces her to return the money - after she takes a shower. Terrifying, startling and influential shocker still holds up after more than forty years and countless imitations. Was shot in black and white for no other reason than Hitch thought the blood would be too upsetting for audiences, and this also boasts the first onscreen toilet flush - which made the censors even more paranoid than the murders. DVD includes an insightful 93 minute "making of" documentary as well as trailers and newsreels and production notes. Followed by three sequels two decades later, a TV movie and a remake in 1998.

"I'm looking for LEROY!!!!"

This movie is too funny! It came out right before Vanity turned her life around and became a Christian..putting the music industry behind her for good. This will be the final time you'll ever see her dressed up, made up, and having that flirtatiousness about her. Who could ever forget Eddie Arcadian and his protege singing "dirty books...i found 'em, i found 'em." The Debarge did a song call "rhythm of the night" really the family haven't put a song out TOGETHER since this. I've always wondered why, because they had so many big hits. Taimak this was his last performance in a movie, he did Janet Jackson's video "let's wait awhile" and was never seen again. Even "Cockroach" from the Cosby show was in this movie. He was one of Leroy's brother's friend, this same guy played as a regular on "martin". "Rudy" which is Keisha Knight-Pulliam played Leroy's little sister. So you can see this was an all star cast. Think you've got a good DVD don't unless you have this movie.

Probably the Best Superhero Movie Ever

Spider Man fans are lucky people. Unlike many groups of comic fans, they are being treated to movies made by people who thoroughly enjoy and understand their favorite comic book protagonist. This is a great turn of events, as Spider Man, both in the book and on the big screen, is fiendishly identifiable with almost anyone that interacts with the story. Who hasn't been down on their luck, at odds with the world, and had relationship problems? Luckily for those of us who like eye candy, Peter Parker is a man with all these problems, as well as super powers. The first movie introduced us to the multifaceted fictional being that is Mr. Parker, the sequel shows us just how hard it can be to be a lower class student who can't get the girl. Along the way, it shows us justice, evil, and some great acting and eye popping special effects.

The story of Spider Man 2 is fairly well known, and is a natural extension of the skeleton set up in the first installment. Parker, bitten by a radioactive arachnid and forever haunted with the memory of his murdered uncle, has dedicated himself to helping fight crime. His dedication is tested mightily in this film, as he is forced to juggle a job, college classes, and living in a gulag style room (Pete, take the train in from Queens!). At the same time, he is losing his relationships, most importantly with his beloved Mary Jane Watson, who is engaged to another man. This storm of trouble pushed Peter to giving up the mantle, that is until he is faced with a monstrous threat. Otto Octavius, a scientist funded by the darkening Harry Osbourne and someone very much admired by Peter, has become fused with his own robotic arms. Armed with the tentacles and his new found madness, he goes on a city wide rampage that threatens those closest to Peter. Spider Man is forced out of retirement, and Peter realizes the endurance of the lesson he learned from his Uncle Ben.

The reason why this is arguably the best super hero movie ever is because it stays true to the heart of the character so well. The whole film is a like a loving tribute to the work of creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and both long time Spidey fans and new comers can enjoy this. Director Sam Raimi brings his own eye to the movies, recreating the stylized New York City landscape that Spider Man inhabits. His pacing is brilliant and the movie is almost structurally flawless. The acting is great all around, from Tobey Maguire's spot on Peter Parker to Alfred Molina's horrifying Doc Ock. Special effects, especially with those having to do with the Spidey/Ock battles are really top shelf and great to see. The movie also has a dark edge to it, as we see Harry Osborn sink further into a hate fueled obsession with Spider Man. The ending of Spider Man 2 shows how tragic this mental state could become. Until then, enjoy this fine piece of work.

This is the best comedy on television!

I don't know what the two reviewer's who gave the show a bad review are watching but it definitely ain't "Reba"! Reba is a hilarious family comedy. Not only is Reba McEntire a great comedic actress but the rest of the cast, particularly Mellisa Peterman as "Barbra Jean" are wonderful as well. Give "Reba" a chance and I guarantee you will not be dissapointed.

Jeffrey Osborne, Up Close And Personal

Jeffrey Osborne has really out did himself with this video. He managed to combine the old 70's hits with the new music and the video is great. There were some music I had not heard since the LTD era, (Concentrate On You). My favorites on the video are, (of course, keeping in mind, I'm a big Jeffrey Osborne fan,and I just happen to own all of his music), We Party Hearty,Second Time Around, Stay With me Tonight, Kreeping, Holding On, Don't You Get So Mad and Thats For Sure. I would not be human if I did not mention two of my old time favorites, Love Ballad and The Woo Woo Song. This video is well worth the wait and the viewing. Jeffrey is always there when I want to see him up close and personal. Jeffrey,Really Don't Need No Light,to keep Holding On, for his Second Time Around with his music. Boy, did I miss him all those years. To the future artist that are around now, watch out, the man and his music are here to stay.
