A beatiful movie

I am not a big Madonna fan, and I also saw the show twice on Broadway. Yet the movie seemed to capture the essential story of a girl/woman who knew what she wanted, and went for it. The acting by Madonna was very convincing, and who know that Antonio Banderas could sing so well? Worth taking a look at.

The culmination of this cinematic approach, so far

This is what Koyaanisqatsi and Chronos grew up to be. A more mature and diverse film, it is rich and full and makes a magnificent statement. If you keep an eye on the theatres, you may see the new prints that have been made circulating - at least in Seattle it has played locally in recent years and is not to be missed on the big screen, but even on your TV, prepare a time when you have at least 30 minutes after the film completes to steep in it. This is great art.

I know a lot of people don't "get" this movie, but I think it's one of the most beautiful & striking films in a long time. It's sort of a tribute to a style of film-making that's a staple in Hong maybe that's lost on some people here? I think it's a delight to watch! I prefer the Mandarin audio with subtitles, but DO watch it at least once with the English dub'll be surprised at some of the differences in the dialogue, (and I've been told by an aquaintance that speaks fluent Mandarin that the English dub is actually a more accurate translation than the subtitles...hmmmm..) I just like the sound of the Mandarin. If you don't have any appreciation for this style of fantastic, over-the-top martial arts film, don't buy this; you probably won't like it. Otherwise, buy it!!

Great Power Yoga Workout

I have only done Part 1 of the tape, but that's enough to make me love it. You have the option of doing very advanced poses, but there are modifications along the way to make things easier and the constant reminder not to force yourself into a pose that is too challenging. I love the speed of the workout because I think it is challenging but not overly so. The first workout is about 45 minutes and I think the other two are as well, which means that this is a great value.

Almost Perfect...

I bought this video in November of last year and I must say that I liked it a lot... The movie is an adult Psycho-thriller that involves a twisted plot about illusion and deception...
The animation of the film is absolutely first class, with great scenery that appears real...
What I did enjoy about it was the editing! Watching this film filled me with envy at the editing. A simple thing like opening a door would cut to another scene instantly, and even better is that a jerk of the head on stage as part of a routine suddenly takes you somewhere else with idea that all this was one fluid motion. What the film really needed and by heaven did it get it!
The film wasn't really a scary film... More freaky! it just kind of confuses and forces you to try and internalise it all...
With a great plot in place it is let down a little by not totally explaining everything... Now while many of you think that is great and leaves you to think of your own ideal end and cause... i think it really needed tying up as some of the things not only catch you off guard, but you have no real idea of why they are there!
However this is only a minor thing and will not detract from the viewing at all... What is a real shame about this film is that it never got a cinema release... Boy would it have looked great then, but that aside it is a cracking film with many strikepoints and a nice fluidity to it, easily worth watching....

Spider-Man 2 (Widescreen Special Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

This is probably the biggest movie disappointment of my life. The first Spiderman is a great movie. I can look past all of the poor CGI work because the story was great and there were other great visual effects to help compensate.

There are tons of flaws in the movie. I've watched it three times thinking maybe I'm wrong not to like it, but always find something new to bother me.

Why is Parker such a nerd now? When he became Spidey in the first movie he also lost a lot of the nerd image.

How can Doc Oc support the weight of the mechanical arms? They have to weigh a ton.

When the energy experiment becomes magnetic why aren't everyone's metal ear rings ripped out? You can see Doc Ocs wife has a big pair of metal ear rings.

When Peter dives across the table to save Mary Jane from the car her chair falls over, then they cut to another angle and the chair is standing.

Acid melts Spidey's mask on the train and when Doc Oc delivers him to Harry his mask is perfect.

Wouldn't Doc Oc get knocked out with one punch from Spidey?

Spidey seems to be indestructible in this movie. When stopping the train, taking hard falls, having his head in Doc Ocs mechanical vice.

There's several times when Spidey is out in the wide open with no building or anything else to sling a web to, yet he just throws a web to the sky and flies off.

Half of New York and just about every main character now know Peter is Spidey.

The screaming close-ups and all the screaming in general are just totally annoying.

The film is worth watching, but it has more issues than Rolling Stone.

The Grudge

The plot is very simple, part of the appeal of the series is how effective such a simple story can be. Watch the movie and pay attention. I'm not really sure what people are complaining about. It all seemed very simple to me. Terrible events cause spirits to haunt a house and all those associated with it. Why are they haunting about? Their lives were ended prematurely and under terrible circumstances! What more do you want. I'm a ghost, why do I go and kill jane who came into my house, cause I'm p*ssed about how I died and I'm going to take out on somebody. Simple. Gripe gripe gripe, nothing is being said. Here is what I loved about the movie totally fantastic movie.

I feel the need...the need for speed!

?TOP GUN? the way it was released almost 14 years ago left us speechless with its special effects video and sound but having the chance to experience the DVD version gives you the feeling that even top guns can be taken to higher levels of performance.
