Kickin' Way to Call it Quits at Universal!

This has to be the ultimate farewell to the monsters at Universal! I can't believe that I still don't have this one in my collection, but that will change. This film is also the best of the Abbott & Costello genre! Lou, at one point, replies to Talbot(who plays the character as he always did)"I'm a bit of a wolf myself!" The film is much like House of Frank & Drac as we get a smorgasbord of the 3 Universal Monsters(Drac,Wolf & Frank Monster!), but this also includes the wonderful antics of Bud and Lou. I am glad that Lugosi donned the cape to play the count for this one as that was also a fitting farewell to the genre of 2 Universal decades(I often wonder how audiences took to that after not seeing Lugosi in the Dracula role for 19 years on the big screen!), but they should have figured out a way to work the mummy in this one!

A wonderful surprise for all the wrong reasons.

This is a fantastic movie. The story is well written and the cast is amazing!
The movie is about a group of childhood friends and the lives they live "on the other side of the track". It's an emotional roller-coaster ride that explodes upon social class differences, emotional abandonment, the bonds of ever-lasting friendship and the sacrifices one will make for another in the hope for them to live a better life.
It's a must see!

Entertaining & Educational

Cool show...didn't get to catch it on Showtime, so it's great to watch on DVD. Penn & Teller cut through the bull to get to the truth of the matter on the topics they cover.

Enjoyed watching the shows, and am about halfway through already.

Adults and kids can love this movie!

Sequels almost never work out, but this one I thought was even better than the first Shrek! My sixteen-year-old wanted her own DVD of Shrek 2 for Christmas. What is it about large green not so attractive beings that we love so much? They're us . . . we've all wanted to be loved for ourselves! This movie tells that story wonderfully--and could there ever be a better donkey than Eddie Murphy? We all laugh whenever we think of Donkey being childish to get on Fiona's and Shrek's nerves in the carriage . . . that big, long nose slowly appearing, just to be annoying, slowly, slowly . . . and then Donkey making his mouth go "POP!" Fun, fun movie!

A Classic!

although the movie loses something on the small screen...it was wonderful to be able to watch certain scenes again and again. Most notably the Chess scene which was brilliant.

Far out!

This movie is great. I've seen it three times. ... This movie is fantastic! It was hilarious! I liked the part when Ron says, "She needs to sort out her priorities." Filch, Snape, and Malfoy were all ugly, creepy, and sinister enough. It's a three-way tie when it comes to who was creepier. If I had to pick one, I would say Snape gets first, with Malfoy running a close second. If that creepy little kid was Malfoy, I shudder to think what Mr. Malfoy is going to look like in the next movie. Two words, MUST SEE! Harry and Ron were both good actors, not to mention CUTE! The part with the sweets on the train was hilarious, I just love the look on Ron's face when Harry says, "We'll take the lot." The real tear-jerker scene for me was when Harry was sitting on the window petting Hedwig.

As Time Goes By - Complete Series 8 & 9 - movie DVD cover picture
Enough Anglophilia!

This single series has done more to convince Americans of their intellectual inferiority to Britain than anything since the invention of the Oxfordshire accent. The fact of the matter is this series is not just astounding relative to American television. It's astounding relative to British television.

There is an old aphorism of American football that states, "When you get the ball into the endzone, you should act like you've been there before." As Time Goes By is television for people who have been there before. It's for real grown-ups, not kids who've recently discovered the magic of genitalia. It doesn't matter what your national identity is, this stuff is good.

Also, hilarious.
