Bumblebee Flies Anyway - movie DVD cover picture

"The Bumblbee Flies Anyway? What kind of name is that?" I thought. But I was determind to see every movie of Racheal Leigh Cooks. For one we have the same name, and for two she's my favorite actress. This movie is my all time favorite one of Racheal's movies. I've only seen about three movies that can really make me cry. This one one of them. I loved the way Barney and Cassie showed their love for eachother. My favorite part is the very very end. I love that song Truthfully. My fav. movie

Wonderful fantasy getaway for any age

i've only given it 4 stars because with a film as well regarded as the Princess Bride, they've released a DVD with really no additional features (it has different languages and the movie trailer). the movie transfer is clean and sharp, though. i would give the movie itself a '5'. the soundtrack is good, too.
Rob Reiner does an admirable job transferring the William Goldman book to the screen... a difficult task since this was Goldman's favorable book (written for daughters) and my understanding was that at the time Goldman didn't care much for the movie version.
the movie has everything and contains some of the neatest dialogue centered around the idea of true love...
'why didn't you wait for me?' 'they said you were dead' 'death cannot stop true love, all it could do is delay it for awhile.' 'i will never doubt again.' 'there will never be a need.'
the casting (and acting) was superb, although Andre the Giant as Fezzik is a little hard to understand. the fencing duel was great fun (fencers alert, all the disengages he did at the end made it all the more interesting).
this movie is great as it gives women the illustion that i'm sensitive (HA!) meanwhile, i'm mentally recording all the insults used in the film for my repertoire ('i'll explain, and i'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog faced buffoon... it's like i'm watching the Army of Darkness! ).
really, this is a very very good movie and i'm sure it would become one of the most replayed film in your collection.

A Star is Born.... Easily 5 Stars... Plus Great DVD

This is a great movie and Crowe is simply outstanding. In some ways it is like the old epic Roman movies Spartacus or Ben Hur, with a good combination of writing, cinematography, acting, plus the magnet personality of a star - Crowe. It is like Ben Hur with the chariot scenes, but then again it has a much more complicated an unpredictable plot plus it mixes in a bit of the surreal. Simply put: this is a great movie that I had to watch twice in a row on the first viewing. The only negative for some people will be the bloody fight scenes - but they add to our understanding of the dangers and the lives of the Roman troops and the gladiators.

It is easy to understand the excitement and the awards the movie and its actors received, and it does seem to start Crowe on his way to becoming a major Hollywood actor and a modern day version of Bogart.

The DVD itself is sharp and clear. Also it has three of the best extras I have ever seen on a DVD: one on the movie production with almost every actor interviewed, one on Roman blood sports, and one on the music. They are long and detailed, and come on a second DVD in the two DVD set. I rented the DVD and was so impressed that I bought it on

Ghoulishly Clever!!!

What can I say about re-animator? It's a clever yet terrifying film with frightening scenes and very disturbing images. It's H.P. Lovecraft at his best. Combines the Horror and creepiness of Night of the Living Dead with the gore and comedy of Evil Dead. Jeffery Combs(From Beyond, another Lovecraft masterpiece) plays a college student who invents a serum to revive the dead. he gets more than he bargains for when these corpses are revived. You'll have to see what I mean by checking out this one yourself. Any horror fan will be pleased with this film.

Classic film done justice on disc

I won't go into a treatise on the film except to say that it is one of my sentimental favorites of the fantasy genre (inspired by Val Lewton's films of the 40s, particularly Cat People) even though there's no monsters, sci-fi apparatus, etc. Just a wonderful, evocative mood and sense of place, offbeat and interesting characters, effective photography, etc. According to the accompanying commentary, Harrington and Hopper felt they were making a "movie of the streets" like the Italian directors and I think that's part of what contributes to Night Tide's uniqueness; that feel really comes through. Anyway the DVD is very clean, the best I've ever seen the film, letterboxed, with no video or audio problems that I noticed. The commentary, although there are occasional lulls, is quite interesting. Harrington and Hopper have to jog each other's memories a bit (although Hopper eventually remembers quite a bit more detail about the movie than one would expect) and some fascinating bits are revealed (they identify nearly every location they shot on, many of which could still be visited by the intrepid.) In summary, fans of serious, atmospheric fantasy-horror (or Lewton freaks) won't be disappointed in the movie or the DVD.
