Kevin Spacey's done it again!

Once again, Kevin Spacey's done it again! Like American Beauty, he gives another fine performance.
A few months ago, I was one of many to be selected topreview this movie, and I thought it was just brilliant. That was for free. Since then, I took my girlfriend to see itand she agreed as well. And, I'll probably be seeing it againsoon. It's that good.
Spacey plays Prot, ("pronounced Prote") an extra-terrestrialfrom the planet K-PAX. We find Prot in the middle of Grand
Central Station, where he has just materialized. He's isasked where he is from, and when he says another planet,he is whisked away to a state hospital. There, he is examinedby Mark Powell, a local Psychiatrist, played superbly byJeff Bridges.(loved him in Thunderbolt and Light Foot andThe Fabulous Baker Boys)
At first Powell thinks he is just another space nut, but laterhe and we, start to believe that maybe there's more to Protthan meets the eye.
Once again, Spacey gives an extraordinary performance, sure to garner another Academy Award nomination. Both times I saw this movie, it kept me leaning forward inmy seat, and when they do that, you know they're interesting.
Jeff Bridges, and a very fine supporting cast, helps this movie really deliver. Outstanding performances by all!
Oh, the Planetarium sequence was my favorite scene.Simply outstanding. It was just as brilliant the second timearound!
Beam me up, Kevin!

brilliant

As many other people mentioned, reality shows are becoming more and more fake, due to scripts and planned storylines. This show is refresingly real and shows how down to earth Britney Spears really is! The season finale contains exclusive footage of the Spears-Federline wedding which you won't see anywhere else! I seriously recommend you pre-order/buy this DVD from Amazon at this great low price, if not only for the DVD, but for the bonus CD too which includes her new single "Someday (I Will Understand)" and the theme for the show, "Chaotic" !

Berserk - Season One (The Complete Collection) - movie DVD cover picture
Berserk

Ok, first off: Berserk is one of my favorite anime series ever. It's set in a dark gothic realm during a time of war and conflict. There is a LOT of blood, both complicated and direct adult themes, some cursing and some nudity. The other gripe is that the series is unfinished. It's based on a Manga that has not ended. If those things don't bother you, i cannot reccomend this series enough. The positives far outweigh the negatives in Berserk's case.

The animation is great, good framerate... no re-used frames here. Sound and presentation are both fine as well. Berserk would be quite watchable just for the awesome battle scenes. Fortunatly, the series is more then just eye candy. The story is outstanding, filled with twists and turns, battlefield tatics and political plots. Though the story is great, the character interaction and development is truely outstanding. Indeed, the main reason of me writing this review is to clarify on the characters. I won't elaborate on them much, but if you want to figure them out all on your own feel free to stop reading.

First off, none of the main characters are homosexual. Some people tend to think that about Griffith at first glance. The deal with him is that his ambition to rule totally consumes him. He doesn't care about friendship or love, he sees everyone and everything as tools and stepping stones on his climb to the top. He is posessed with that powerful dream, and will stop at nothing to make it become reality. His swordsmanship is masterul, his tatics brilliant. He is charismatic and displays a calm confidence that makes everyone around him expect success. Later in the series, his character continues to develop. I won't elaborate further.

Gatsu is the main character. Berserk takes place in a tragic age, and Gats has certainly had his share. His childhood was traumatic to say the least, and throughout the series Gats seems to challange his very existence; charging headlong into the midst of the chaos, and attempting to retrieve his life from there. Gats' physical skills and extreme willpower allow him to do so. His sword is his best friend, and he will kick a lot of butt throughout the series. Gats desperatly tries to find his place in the world, and Griffith soon takes notice of his talents. Gats will play a role as Griffith's Vanguard leader, greatly assisting Griffith in his quest to live the dream... but what of Gats' own dreams?

Caska is the main female character in the series. As pretty much the only woman in any army, she tries hard to fit in with the guys, and succeeds to a degree. Caska starts off as Griffith's top subordinate, and she has the skills to match the job. She is infatuated with Griffith because of past events, but the fact that he sees her in a military capacity instead of a personal capacity frustrates her. Everytime Griffith goes out of his way for Gats, it makes Caska resentful of Gats. She misses no opportunity to tell Gats what he did wrong but is actually quite shy when it comes to her own feelings of love. Gats' brashness clashes with her cautious correctness, ironically making them a great team. She will play a larger role later on...

All these characters grow and develop as the series progresses. Not only that, but occasional flashbacks help you see part of the reason why the characters are the way they are. There are other great characters as well, including the too-nice Jideu, pessimistic Corkus and mysterious Zodd, among others. The setting may be highly fantasy, but these character's emotions are real enough to feel. I've seen a lot of anime, and in my opinion this is among the very top... certainly worth checking out...

I taped (put a small stereo to the tv and made an AUDIO tape) of this routine when it aired on HBO when I was young because I loved it so much. The range and talent in this production is rarely seen all together. I've been searching for the DVD and I am so happy to have finally found it. Paul Mooney we love you!

I liked it a lot

Everything about this movie was great, the cast, plot, tone...etc. The all-start cast consisted of John Cusack, Cameron Diaz, and Catherine Keener. The main character, Cusack, is a struggling puppeteer married to Diaz, a pet-obsessed woman with frizzy hair. One day, Cusack takes a job as a filer in a bazaar firm that is on only half of a floor, and he discovers a portal into actor, John Malcovich's, brain. All the while, Cusack has been obsessed with Catherine Keener's character, Maxine, and so has Cusack's wife, Diaz. Things get confusing for everyone, Diaz thinks she's a transexual after being in Malcovich's head, Maxine is only inlove with Diaz while she is in Malcovich, and Cusack will do anything to win over Maxine including tying up his wife and leaving her in a monkey's cage. Very weird idea for a film, definately not mainstream, but I really enjoyed it. It's genius.

one of the best films ever made

This is one of my favorite movies. It is not very well known, maybe because its truth is so hard to take, but for me it clearly tops Citizen Kane or It's a Wonderful Life or even Casablanca. Billy Wilder is the best Director ever. Will someone please release A Foreign Affair and Kiss me Stupid on DVD soon?
