Keep Guessing

This is a great Agatha Christie. Keeps you guessing till the end. And the plot is great. A train. A homocide. And the passengers are all connected with the murdered victim. Everyone that is...except for Poroit. Agatha's detective in this story. And he's not going to get off this train untill he solves the mystery.

I Love This Movie!

Pearl Harbor is without a doubt the phoniest excuse to make a huge blockbuster movie which is exactly what Michael Bay and Bruckheimmer did. Before this movie came out, they were saying such things as "We want to honor the survivors of Pearl Harbor" and garbage like that. If anyone who survived Pearl Harbor saw this version, I think they would be insulted. Pearl Harbor is ripoff combination of Titanic's love story and Independence Day and Armaggedon's special effects, though nowhere near as good as any of these movies. The acting among the 3 main stars are average at best. Cuba Gooding Jr. being in this movie was ridiculous because he had absolutely no role. He was just used for star power and a poor excuse to put a black actor in the movie. Just a waste of a good talent. The movie is excrutiatingly long, well over 3 hrs. It obviously tried to copy the Titanic effect. The music was way too overdramatic, made you laugh at times. The bombing sequence which was probably a good half hour was very impressive. If that's all you're interested in then you'll get your money's worth. It was obviously the only part of the film that the directors focused on. The other 2 1/2 hrs were just thrown in. The screenplay was laughable as well. There were no memorable lines at all and it made you scratch your head that the guy who wrote Braveheart did the screenplay for this. Anyone who can watch this movie straight without complaint, my hat goes off to you.

Jet Lis Best

This was an amazing good movie, for being a remake. Jet Li does what he do best: Fighting. lots of it. Too bad they dubbed things wrong, but as a martial arts movie its the best ive seen.
One more good thing is that Jet Li starred in this movie because he wanted to do one more beliveable and without wirework. (Instead of once upon a time in china, where he can fly sometimes.)

Weiss Saved the Best for Last

The Weiss Kreuz TV series has gone through ups and downs in story and animation quality, but these final five episodes are definitely the best in the series. The artwork and animation is clean and consistent throughout the DVD, something which previous releases suffered in. The voice acting is superb as always, as the characters hurtle toward the emotional finale. Finally, the DVD extras (outtakes and Japanese voice actor interviews) are funnier and more entertaining than any others (except the rock-paper-scissors tournament on volume 4!).
In this volume, Aya's sister has been captured by Schreient. When Yohji captures the Schreient agent Neu, who he believes is his "dead" partner Asuka, the Weiss team is on their way toward finding their enemies and rescuing Aya-chan. Meanwhile, the three heads of the mysterious occult organization Esstzet are on their way to Japan to complete their plans of destroying the world. Yet in the background lurks Schwarz, with plans of their own. Events pull all the players toward the grand finale, the final showdown between Schwarz and Weiss.
This DVD of episodes 21 - 25 is definitely the best of the lot. Emotions run high in the voice acting, the animation is clean and fluid, and the plot is non-stop exciting. Granted, in a few places it doesn't make a great deal of sense, but the show never gets to the point where you can't follow what's going on. Overall this is the best Weiss Kreuz DVD... until the OAVs get released!

doesn't get any better

Not since GI Joe and Transformers, has a cartoon demonstrated the teamwork and story that this cartoon does. If you don't watch the series, you need to. Stop letting kids watch Doug, Rugrats, and all that other stuff, and let them watch something that they can really learn from.

Coooooooooooool Movie

I'll admit it, I'm 24 and I really liked this movie. The best way to describe The Sorcerer's Stone is that it's Lord of the Rings, for kids. It holds the excitement, the adventure, the magic, and the drama expected of it by its target audience; and you have to expect that if you're and older viewer. However, it's not ridiculously simplistic to the point of annoying and alienating an older viewers. Also, rather than completely copying the first book, it complements it wonderfully, IMHO. Where the book gives one viewpoint, the movie occasionally takes a different slant or viewpoint, and together they (the book and movie) blend into a better understanding of an event.
My brother who is an avid fan of the books told me flat-out that there was no way he was going to see the movie when it came out. He didn't want to see what other people created; he wanted to keep his version Harry Potter's universe tucked away in his own imagination. That and he wanted to avoid the hype particularly if the movie was a bomb. In the meantime, the movie opened and several friends told me that I absolutely had to see it. Hmm, I figure if a bunch of 20-30 something year old RPGers are wild about a movie directed at the preteen crowd, I may as well try it. After days of cajoling, I finally talked my brother into watching it with me. Occasionally, during the movie he'd comment. "I didn't think of it that way...WOW!" At the end, his only comments were "We're buying this when it comes out. Don't they usually add deleted scenes on the DVDs? That'll rock! When does the next one hit theatres?" I had to chuckle.
I had never read any of the books before the movie, but was inspired to borrow my brother's copies for a weekend. That is when I noticed how well the movie and book complement each other. If you want to buy something for a kid or a kid at heart, I would have to suggest buying the first book and the movie and presenting them as a gift set. I enjoyed them individually. Together, I loved them.

Stop delaying this DVD

I am waiting day and night for this upcoming DVD. Why it is delayed everytime? I never saw this film. WHY? Instead I watched "American Pie" and "American Psycho" trying to eat the american hypocrisy but with no luck. Yes, it's true -this film would not probably be an blockbuster, but so what? Is it offensive? No, it isn't. "CALIGULA" on DVD - that's offensive.
