Keanu's Best!

This is one of my favorite movies. My husband and I have kind of adopted it as "our" movie. And he doesn't normally like these kind of films. The story is compelling, the characters memorable. Lose yourself in "the clouds" - it's a beautiful film!

This video is great!A must have for the Bon Jovi lovers soul

If you are a Bon Jovi fan, then you have to buy this tape! Jon Bon Jovi's singing is awesome, and Richie Sambora plays the meanest guitar riffs I've ever heard! It's about 90 min. of great music. If you listen to it over big speakers, it sounds like you're actually there! And even at the end, when they play These Days, they even show a quick picture of Heather Locklear. Even Bon Jovi:Keep The faith an evening with bon jovi is pretty cool, they play alot of acoustic and electric stuff, like Wanted Dead or alive, but there sitting down the whole time. Kind of a drag. On the croosroads videos, they play unrealesed videos like dry county and miracle from blaze of glory. but they dont show ones like in and out of love or runaway or someday ill be saturday night. all bon jovi videos, including live from london(the best bon jovi tape there is) are all great if you like bon jovi. I f you like there songs buy it if you don't then why are you here?

When Tony Rome talks, broads and tough guys listen up

There is more than a little Sinatra in this man called Tony Rome. Hard drinking, broad loving, pony betting, it's all here and it's all good. Between long drags on his Luckys, Sinatra is a real man's man in the way he handles broads as well as tough guys in this one. A confirmed bachelor living on his boat, proves the ideal setting for this devil-may-care private eye who shrugs off gorgeous babes as easily as he outwits the heavies trying to keep him from their secrets. Being equally quick with fists and wits allows Tony Rome to get out of dutch faster than you can say, "Hey Pal, make mine a double." If smoking, drinking, and carousing make you long for the good old days, then get this video. Oh yeah, have one for Ol' Blue Eyes and me while you watch it.

Frightening and bizarre film that is relentless!

I give this film 5 stars when compared to other horror films, not all films. That said...
Phantasm is possibly one of the most frightening and bizarre films ever made. By modern standards this film should be completely terrible, because anyone else attempting to make a film with the same ingredients would surely screw it up: grave robbers, walking corpses, shrunken corpses reanimated, mortuaries, a flying sphere with deadly intentions, aliens and/or interdimensional travel, reanimated fingers, and a singing ice cream salesman. Sound bizarre? It is. Does it work? You better believe it!When I first saw this film I was in college watching it in a friends dorm room on HBO. In the final scene of the film, I literally tipped the chair over backwards in surprise. It scared the living daylights out of me.Coscarelli permeates the film with unease. The viewer is never quite sure if what he is watching is reality or some dream/nightmare world that the characters are being subjected to. The result is a fine film that delivers on chills and confuses you just enough to allow you to be surprised by events that wouldn't normally go together, but somehow do here.
Definitely rent or buy this one!

Amazing

Andrei Tarkovsky is not only capably of making an excellent thriller, but he very closely examines his characters and the way they react to different things, as well as providing some incredible images. Tarkovsky is known for saying that a good movie should not be entertaining. This may hold true to "The Sacrifice" or "The Mirror," but this is a brilliant science fiction masterpiece that is good AND entertaining. The acting is flawless and the script is very well written, allowing for some close examination of each individual cosmonaut on board Solaris.
For any who are unfamilair with the plot, it involves a group of cosmonauts who are in orbit above a planet consisting completely of water. The water seems to be alive and is manifesting hallucinations of what the crew is thinking about, or people from their past. The people react with fear and compassion to these different occurences, and try to figure out how to stop this, or if they even want to.
Fans of "2001: A Space Odyssey" should not miss this, and once viewing this masterpiece you will realize how many films have been influenced by this one ("Event Horizon," for example).

Bachelor Party - movie DVD cover picture
Classic 80's Movie

Not quite as raunchy as a movie of this topic could've been, BACHELOR PARTY has equal parts 'raunch' and 'trash' as it does 'feel-good' laughs ... and that's largely due to the charm of its star, a young erstwhile Tom Hanks long before he was a media darling and an Oscar contender.
In as unlikely a scenario as has ever been filmed, Hanks -- a school bus driver -- has snagged a voluptuous heiress to be his winning bride, but not before Hanks' rowdy friends carry through on their plans to throw -- you guessed it -- a bachelor party, hence the name of the film. Enter the obligatory hookers, horse jokes, and a nerdy ex-boyfriend, and the laughs begin.
Sure, it might be predictable, and, yes, it might be dated, but BACHELOR PARTY still has some classic yucks worthy of a cult film. Definitely worth the view.

Walking Zero.

David Mamet's fascinating portrayal of Real Estate-Salesmen working on 'Commission' is,undeniably, one of the best films of the 1990's &,without doubt, untouchable in the 21st Century.Based upon Mamet's own stage-play,I would even call this a cult-movie. The cut-throat tactics of businessmen-survival are intriguingly conveyed here,it's the perfect metaphor for America's capitalist society. The direction is very cool, nothing overtly flashy, just basic & subtle & straight-to-the-point,the kind of film a first time indie-director would love to mold. That is,to say, unless they could grab hold of such a fantastic cast because the chemistry, here,is flawless. Jack Lemmon should of got an Oscar for his role. Ed Harris rumbles along superbly as the salesman-strung-out. Pacino is cool~(the string-of-luck salesman)~punching the lines out really well. Alan Arkin is great. Always blooming before you is the first rate flowing Mamet script, definitely the core of this under-rated classic film. Summing-up an entire crumbling system,"Sales-Sales" is the order of the day. Because only ONE thing counts in this life...get them to sign on the line which is dotted!!
I hope this film gets a DVD-transfer sometime,it would suit it perfectly. Highly recommended.

STONE-ROCK

Rock videos mean very little to me, but Gimme Shelter has a real story to tell. I always had a thing for intelligent horror movies, and this has to be one of the best. It actually resembles Lord of the Flies in the way it shows a crowd of civilised people gradually reverting to savagery; but it's even better because it's live footage of a real incident.
Recommended for people who enjoy A Clockwork Orange or Aguirre, The Wrath OF God.

Awesome drama!

After CBS television pulled the plug on Tom Selleck's detective drama,"Magnum P.I.",Tom Selleck concentrated on his film career which would last several more years. This film is Selleck's post-Magnum first. It is based on the book by Philip Blackwood, played by Selleck. Philip has written several novels in the past. Blackwood's novel of the same title inspired what was seen in this film. A bearded Philip is present at the arraignment of a young Romanian girl named Nina(Paulina Porizkova). Nina was accused of murder and was convicted. After Philip shaves his beard down to a moustache,he visits Nina in prison, dressed as a minister and bails her out. This is where their romance began. One memorable scene was where Philip is shot in the derriere by a hunting arrow, fired by Nina who was hunting some kind of animal. In the last scene,at a circus,Philip,Nina and a few other people are there as clowns. The few other people are criminals out to get Nina and are arrested. The closing theme entitled "Falling In Love",was written and performed by Randy Newman.

Biography - Abraham Lincoln: Preserving the Union (A&E DVD Archives) - movie DVD cover picture
Highly Recommended

I purchased this video at the Lincoln Memorial gift shop in Washington, DC...so, evidently I'm not alone in recommending this fine, compact biography. There are many Brady (or Brady-esque) photographs that I had never seen before, Some splendid drawings and political cartoons of the era, great narrations of Lincoln's writings; and, some uncharacteristically lively interviews with historians representing many different points of view on the great man. Like the previous reviewer, I found this to be an unusually engaging A&E. It made me laugh out loud at times, tear up with sympathy, and catch my breath in astonishment. Very worth anyone's time and a great instruction aid for home school or any teacher.
