Rabbit-Proof Fence - movie DVD cover picture

Its hard sometimes to think that we are part of the human race, especially when we encounter the most inhumane programs we have enforced on our fellow man. It makes you want to slink away into the jungle and mayhaps emerge on the other side and with any luck, all the bad things we have wrought, will have vanished!
But, as docudrama's unfold we are again brought to the fore to witness yet another crime against each other. Rabbit-Proof Fence is such a docudrama, as we see the gov't of Australia take half white aboriginal children away from their mothers arms and send them off to schools to be taught to be domestics and to be parterned with other breeds to cull out the aborigine blood in three generations. The great men who thought this up would have fit in with Hitler like a glove. And to think that this program did not end until 1970s is beyond belief. And the present government of Australia does not offer any condolences for the program.
The people of this offensive program were and are referred to as 'The Stolen Generation'
Molly and Gracie are sisters and one day they are snatched away from their mother by the police like animals and along with their cousin Gracie. They are taken hundreds of miles away to be trained as domestics, and to enter a breeding program to retrieve all the white genes and breed the aboriginal gene's out. Kenneth Branagh is Dr. Neville and in charge of the program and you will not like him very much. All the children at the camp call him "Dr. Devil." The girls escape and trek some 1300-1500 miles back to their ancestral village, their ages are 14, 8, and 10. Molly remembers someone saying that the rabbit fence at their home runs the from coast to coast and they head for the outback in hopes of finding that fence. They meet some people along the way who are nice to them and head them to the fence. There is a hunt for them and no one can imagine how they have made it 600 miles away, but they cannot catch them. Every trap they set the girls get away.
Molly's mother hears of her daughter journey and she and the grandmother set up a vigilance at the rabbit fence and meditate and sing a mantra and wait for the girls to return.
There are some scary moments and the girls have much hardships. And you will be amazed at the acting skills of these three young women.
At the end of the movie no one wanted to leave we all hung around the theater, really not knowing why, but, sadly everyone finally started leaving the theater and no one was talking...ciao yaaah69 I gave this 5/5

This is an excellent movie a great classic for children.

I remember watching this movie as I was growing up. Granted, the special effects are cheezy and the picture quality sucks, but, this IS after all an OLD movie. I do like the overall outcome of the movie though. I think if you are a fantasy lover, you may at least want to give "Clash of the Titans" a chance.

The Definitive Army Of Darkness DVD

Army Of Darkness is the third part of the Evil Dead trilogy, of which I love since I was 4 years old. Just as Book Of The Dead Edition is the definitive one for the first film and the THX Mastered version is the definitive DVD for the second film, this Boomstick Edition is the definitive DVD version of Army of Darkness.Army Of Darkness Boomstick Edition is a 2-DVD Set. The first disc includes the U.S. Theatrical Version of Army Of Darkness (the one with the S-Mart/She-B**** ending) with both 5.1 and 2.0 sound, awesome video quality, and you can choose between Widescreen and Fullscreen to watch the Theatrical version of the movie. The first disc also includes the Theatrical Trailer and a featurette called "The Men Behind The Army", which is basically a docummentary about the movie's make-up effects; Talent Bios and the Original Ending of the movie, the one really meant to be, but separately from the original movie. The second DVD includes the Director's Cut version of Army Of Darkness, the one Sam Raimi first showed to Universal Pictures, and was refused because it was too long (it's 15 minutes longer then the Theatrical Version) and had a depressing ending (yes, this "depressive ending" is the original ending also presented in Disc 1, but this time it's presented together with the movie, not separately). This time you can only watch it Widescreen and 2.0 sound, there aren't any more audio or video options avaliable for the Director's Cut. The second disc has some extras too, like the hilarious audio commentary by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Ivan Raimi; 4 deleted scenes, not presented in any of the movie's versions (there are also audio commentaries for the deleted scenes) and a very nice feature that, like a subtitle, as you watch the movie, storyboards of that scene you're watching just pop up in the lower part of your screen, so you can see what the director meant for that scene to be, and that's highly enjoyable.Overall, this edition is very worth your money. There are some things I didn't like, though: the fact that the DVD has a paper case, not a plastic case; there are no subtitles or Close Captions for either versions of the movie; and the lack of audio/video options in the Director's Cut version. But those are not very important and they won't let me rate this DVD less than five stars. You must also know that there is a booklet inside the case, which is basically the part where Bruce Campbell talks about Army of Darkness in his book "If Chins Could Kill" (which I highly recommend). No need to say the movie itself rocks, and no need to say you must buy this DVD. Come get some (fun), and hail to the king (Bruce Campbell)!

The Extra Footage Makes The Difference

The extra footage RESTORED to the movie (and not just a special secion on the DVD) make getting the Alien's DVD worth it. FOr years, Fox refused to include this footage which had been seen on American network TV and on English PAL formated VCR tapes. This has everything from the awesome Sentry Bots to Newt's family before they found the alien ship. This makes a great movie even better (IMO)!

Brilliant, Unique and Entertaining! Bravo!

This movie is filled with "Could-Have-Been." Not enough follow through. besides the fact that it is a rediculously bad rendering of the Classic Clive Barker story, it really has no solidity as a film of the genre of horror. I was more appalled than scared. It lacks all of the punch that Hellraiser has, and all of the thought that went into Lord of Illusions. It's a mess. Avoid it if you have any devotion to Clive Barker. The reason it gets 2- Tony Todd is interesting, not accurate, but interesting. I'd never looked at the Candyman with any nature of humanity, but his performance demands it. I prefer the Candyman that I pictured, regardless.

Loved it. Worth the long wait.

For the person who wants to learn what the war at sea was about in World War II, there is no better way than to watch these films. Although the films came out in the 1950s, they have more than stood the test of time. The pictures, music and narration are the best ever. If you have been not moved by what happened during those terrible years, these films will certainly do that.
My wife told me she used to watch the TV when she was five years old and was transfixed by them. I cannot think of a better recommendation than that. I even watch these from time to time myself to refresh my memory.

So 80's it's cool!!!

They showed "Baby" to us every year when I was in summer day camp (Packer Collegiate in Brooklyn for those in the know) and to this day I recall it as the worst movie I've ever seen. I think you would have to do a "Clockwork Orange" and mechanically maintain my alertness in order to make me watch this again: you would not, however, have to inject me with evil drugs in order to get me to collapse writhing upon mention of it.
