Anyone Hear About The Quadrilogy?

"Aliens" is the sequel to the smash hit science-fiction movie "Alien". Sigourney Weaver reprises her role as Officer Ripley. There are some differences. Now, she's Lt. Ripley, and she's now playing a determined marine soldier. Her acting is amazing throughout the movie, especially the bonding with the young girl, Newt and the emotional aftermath from the horrifying experience in The Nostromo. Such level of acting deserving earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. All the other actors were also wonderful: Michael Beign, Paul Reiser, Lance Henrickson, and many more.
Besides Sigourney Weaver's amazing feats, James Cameron's directing is amazing. He led the entire cast and crew to their fullest potentials in creating his creative and original ideas. Every detail is flawless. He proves on "Aliens" that he is the master directing and producing science-fiction and extravegent movies.
The visual effects and the sound effects are amazing! Every physical detail looks as real as if the audience was standing next to Ripley. No one can notice any of the computer editions. The sound effect technicians deserving won an Oscar for their efforts. The aliens and the eggs look very scary in credit of the great make-up team. The queen alien is the most amazing. Such elaborate settings give pride to the science-fiction genre.
The plot was written wonderfully. Few writers can master continuing the flow between one movie to its sequel. Every line contains heave substance, keeping the audience's eyes wide open anxiously awaiting for the next scene. The twists and turns between dramatic scenes and action scenes offer added watching pleasure. There is no dull moment. There are many unforgettable quotes that the audience may continue repeating for days after watching the movie. One example is, "get away from her, you b****!" exclaims Ripley.
"Aliens" is one of the best movie sequels released in movie history. Few others succeed this feat. It offers added action versus the original. Those who love action movies and/or science-fiction movies should watch "Aliens". However, "Alien"(the original) must be watched before this installment. Otherwise, all events will be confusing. It offers insight of how Ripley became haunted by the aliens. The two movies, plus "Alien 3" and "Alien: Resurrection" offers the audience an explosive experience.

What the Bleep Do We Know!? - movie DVD cover picture
I see it Happening

I am an ER nurse and I see results of what this movie addresses everyday! More and more people are pathetically sick, largely by their own doing. Our society today should be healthier and happier than ever, but no! More drugs, more test, more technology has not produced any healthier living!
This movie addresses how your body and mind produce what you expect. We were made in the likeness of God, (Being creative beings with pure free will and choices)
If you are often a victim, or a jerk, guess what, you have found the key, as simply illustrated by this movie, to see why some situations in your life sucks and continues to suck.
I have seen many people who ACTUALLY believe they have NO choice or options in life, when there are literally thousands, at any given moment!
This movie illustrates how our choices and awareness work together and it shows how you get what you see and you see what you get! No big deal here.
If you are like some of the strongly opposed to this movie, at the very least, I cant imagine why they did not come away from this movie with merely some fabulous thoughts to ponder. How much harm, real harm, could have been done to them and their psyche from watching this thought provoking movie? This movie may have threatened their ego and who they think they really are, snatching the rug beneath their feet that they are victims of life NO longer, their life is their victim, effected by their own creative power.

Take the time...

This movie is well worth it - for a number of reasons. It's an INTELLIGENT film. You, the viewer, will have to actually think. Nothing is handed to you on a silver platter. If that's not for you - watch Gladiator again. It's a film with layers. Moments of humor. Touching moments. Terrifying moments. All backed right up to each other... a lot like life. Unique and insightful performances. These aren't performances that leap off the screen... they are performances that find a way into your heart. All of them. You wouldn't hate the characters you hate nearly as much if they weren't performed so well... and those you love are suffused with humanity - complete with all the flaws that come with it - leaving you uncertain about your feelings toward them. Exactly like the people in your life, they're not perfect. This is a tough movie, but it's a brilliant movie and worth 2 hours of your time (if it's even that long). Now when was the last time you watched a movie and REALLY felt it had been worth the time?

The best terror movie of the year!

It's a journey of sensations and feelings with very new tecnics of terror. New forms to scare the people, I really must confess I'm a fan of Robert Zemeckis and when I saw this movie I realize of his talent to make a terror movie. The surround sounds are simply espectacular!, the only advise for latin customers is this movie doesn't have spanish subtitles but it doesn't care because you don`t need to understand nothing to scare yourself a lot.

A wonderful movie that will entertain everyone

What a great movie this is. A movie that can entertain both young and old alike. This movie is adapted from Roald Dahls's classic book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", and it truely captures the magic and spirit of the book. From the beginning of the movie where you can see the Chocolate pouring out (a pure delight), to the end of the movie where Charlie, his grandfather, and Willy Wonka, see a birdseye view of the town, every minute of it is truely charming and captivating.
The songs are a delight to sing to once you know them from "The Candy Man" to "I've got A Golden Ticket" to the famous "Oompa Doompa Doopity Doo", you cant help but sing them over and over again.
The sets inside the Chocolate Factory are excellent in detail, especially the room where litterally everything is edible and made of candy. The acting is superb especially the amazing Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. This is a movie that everyone can enjoy.

Children's viewing at it's best.

You cannot go wrong with this bundle. I grew up in the 70's and 80's watching Sesame Street. My son has been watching Sesame Street since he was 11 months old and has learnt so much from the shows. We are fortunate in Australia the show is aired weekdays, the only down side is we only have a few of the dvd's available to purchase. So I didn't hestitate in purchasing them from "AMAZON". You won't be disappointed, this is children's viewing at it's best, and you too will enjoy watching Elmo and friends on Sesame Street.

Shocking Adult Manga Entertainment

Four words that come to mind when watching the first half hour of this film. I had to watch it twice to really appreciate the storyline. After watching it the second time around with English voices, I decided to go with Japanese voices with English subtitles. Not only do the Japanese have far better voice acting, but there's a drastic change in the dialouge as well, that at times just "makes more sense". I don't understand why the translation to American voices changed the script so much, but at the same time it was interesting to see the dialouge at a different perspective.
Bottom line: Very solid action movie with alot of style, alot of blood, and that amazing atmosphere that you only get from "good" Manga. If you're not familiar with this kind of movie, be prepared to taste a little gem that makes most American folk say out loud, "Can they... do that in a cartoon?".

Decisive Action Under Pressure

"I wish to have no connection with any ship that does not go
fast; for I intend to go in harm's way." - John Paul Jones

Early in the film, Rock Torrey [John Wayne] and his exec, Commander Eddington [Kirk Douglas] observe a new heavy cruiser sail from Pearl Harbor to join the fleet, and Wayne's next line contains the movie's title: "A fast ship going in harm's way!"

This film is about exactly that - fast ships and men going in harm's way!

"In Harm's Way" is about decisiveness when under pressure, about thinking fast on one's feet, with no regrets.

The scene in CINCPAC's private study right after CAPT Rock Torrey [Wayne] is promoted to Rear Admiral. CINCPAC [Henry Fonda] is rightfully impatient with Admiral Broderick [Dana Andrews], who is egotistical, but unwilling to decide to attack, much like Civil War Union General McClellan. CINCPAC recalls that Lincoln brought in a hard-nosed general named Grant who didn't care less about organization, he just pointed his battalions in the right direction, and he charged the enemy. The whole theme of the film is contained in CINCPAC's next line to Rock Torrey:

"You're gonna be my Grant!"

I also noticed that Director Otto Preminger briefly revisits his theme of an informant-plant as an in-house bad guy, a theme he covered more extensively with Peter Graves as the Nazi barracks spy in "Stalog 17".

The characters all have flaws, but each one rises to the occasion when the war calls on them to give their best. Rock Torrey does not waste a second driving straight into battle, no matter how impossible the odds! This is the classic stuff of Hollywood Magic and also of inspiration!

Buy this DVD! There is inspiration in this old film, and as with the good old Duke, the actors capture all the best things about taking brave risks and decisive action when in harm's way.

On any level you want, "In Harm's Way" delivers!
