Joe Versus the Volcano

This has quite possibly the best opening sequence I've ever had the privelege to see. It rocks; the song, the situation, and the set work perfectly.
But, further along with the review.
It's about a hypochondriac named Joe Banks. He had had a job before, putting out fires, but for the past several years he's had a job shipping out catalogues for a medical parts company. He uses up basically all of his salary on doctors' bills, because, being the hypochondriac he is, he won't rest until he finds something wrong with himself. And- wonder of all wonders- one doctor FINALLY tells him he has an uncurable disease- a 'brain cloud' that will kill him in the next six months. Joe feels great about that; quits his job, and takes out the secretary he had to dinner. (played by Meg Ryan)
After she dumps him (he tells her he's about to die), he is visited by a very rich man who is willing to give him any amount of money that he can spend in the next few days in exchange for him voluntarily jumping into a volcano. On his way to accomplishing that goal, he meets the man's two daughters (both played by Meg Ryan).
Wonderful performance by Tom Hanks (as usual) and a wonderful show of acting by Meg Ryan. The voices, costumes, and mannerisms for each of the three women she plays are completely different from each other.
I loved all the Tom Hank/Meg Ryan movies, and this is no exception. Great movie, great acting, great plot... great reasons to see it. :)

Really a great movie

Gone With the Wind is undoubtedly one of the greatest motion pictures ever made. There's great acting, a great script, great photography, great direction, everything! I know some people think it's sudsy; that is true. I know people get upset about the depiction of the slaves; Mammy was not a demeaning character. She was subservient, but she knew a lot more than most of the other characters, and she was funny, too. Prissy was demeaning, because all she did was wail and act stupid. But once you get past those qualms, (which some people have trouble doing), you will see how great this movie is. Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable are one of the great romantic pairings in movies. Leigh is absolutly in top form here, and Gable's wryness is a delight to watch. Olivia de Havilland quietly plays the part of Melanie wonderfully. Some shots and scenes were filmed spectacularly; however, I've only seen them on TV, and I wish I saw them in a theater. The story, espicially in the first part, really holds your interest, and is even moving. This truly is an acievement in filmaking, and is one of my favorite movies. Hopefully people will put qualms they might have about it behind them they next time they see it. Then, they'll really be surprised!

Steven "The Genius" Spielberg

This is some of the best acting I've ever seen. Spielberg brings out the true horrifying deeds of the German concentration camps. He's never been better in any other movie he's ever made. I highly recomend this to anyone who enjoys a masterpiece.

The Return of the Living Dead - movie DVD cover picture

This is by far the best zombie film ever made!It has everything you want to see in a zombie film! It's scary,it's funny, and it's bloody. When a teen and his idiot boss accidentally let toxic gas out, the test bodies in the factory come alive!Meanwhile a group of trouble making teens are on their way to see Freddy(the teen). The group dresses weird and has strange clothes.Suicide is the leader, his girlfriend Trash enjoys dancing nude,Scud is a punk rocker,Caisie has big hair,Charlie is a nerd,Spider is the layed back black dude, and Tina is the sweat normal one of the group. She's also Freddy's girl friend.Freddy and his boss become infected with the gas and become zombies.Pretty soon the gas gets out and goes into a nearby cemetary. The dead begin to rise and have a craving for brains! They soon start to feed on the teens! The best zombie is Tar-man! The zombie in the tank. The best scene is when the teens run inyo the cemetary just as the corpses begin to rise! Trash makes a great zombie! Another great scene is when Trash is resurrected and comes out of the ground. Great filming!

makes you think

Disturbing and sad. At the very end when the photographs are spread out on the table and what Adele is saying on the tape recorder--i watched that scene over and over again. btw, does anyone know the name of that song that was playing when all of them are riding in the car under some bridge and Carrie is taking pictures out the car window.

Who said it couldn't snow under water??? :-P

Ok, this DVD only has 4 X-mas related esp, but it's still well worth it. Only one actually is about X-mas, but the others are delightful tales of spongebob and Patrick experiencing snow. This DVD also comes in 2 other languages, and it's very interesting to see spongebob speak in both Spanish and I suppose you can also deem this special feature educational, perhaps watching children might learn some new words in a foreign language. This DVD also included bonus esp that can be accessed, when you go to scene selection. These esp include "Chocolate with nuts" which is hilarious, "As seen on TV" which gives you insight into spongebob's obliviousness, and many more including the remake of a classic horror tale in squeaky boots! Definitely a must buy for any true spongebob fan.

Trapped In Paradise

I'd just like to say that this movie rules, and Alvin is the best! Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz are both really awesome actors. Usually Nicolas Cage isn't my favourite, but in this movie he's cool. Most reviewers, (ones that I've seen anyways) hate Trapped in Paradise, but as you may have guessed, I don't agree with them. If you like movies, you'll like this. So rent it,now!

Grandiose Ultimate No-holds-barred Definately Awesome Movie!

If you don't have a copy of this DVD, get it now. Right now. It was one of the best purchases I have ever made. The animation of this movie is spectacular, the plot intriguing, and the experience enlightening. It's one of those movies where, after you watch it, you think about it days afterward. If you're not a fan of the series, it doesn't matter. This DVD just kicks. It contains both the 3-episode OAV, and the movie version, which has extra footage! It is truly a high light in Gundam's 22 year history, and the best Gundam movie since Char's Counter attack.
Also, please try to watch this movie with a surround sound stereo system. It makes it so much more worthwhile.

The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture

I've never read Tolkien's classic book The Lord Of The Rings, but having seen the movie I'm really looking forward to reading it.This surely is a sign of an excellent thoroughtly enjoyable movie. The Fellowship Of The Ring is the first part of the trilogy, but I simply can't wait another few years to find out how this fascinating story will conclude.
Even though it lasts for practically 3 hours the whole movie just seemed to breeze by.The audiences attention is gripped from the very first moments as the scenario is set.It includes a spectacular scene as the forces of men seek to protect Middle Earth from the forces of evil. It's going to go down in cinematic history as one of those truly spectacular moments.Yet it continues to have startling settings throughout the film that are really breath-taking-from scenes in forests to gothic castles, from cute hobbit villages to the dark underground mines-there are just so many amazing scenes. The effects are incredible too.The detail and make up of the dark soldiers and warriors,to the computer animated effects of trolls and fire-breathing monsters-it really is a visual feast.
I have heard some people say that the opening film is a bit chaotic in that the viewer is bombarded with hordes of strange characters and that some may be confused by the introductions of strange new worlds and all their own particular nuances.I have to say I felt this was far from true. The movie moves along at a reasonable rate so that it's easy for the viewer to become familiar with all these characters and worlds-and yet it doesn't delve into over-complicated detail. Each of the characters in the Fellowship is developed enough to become pretty interesting.Even better are some of the people they meet on their journey in particular the part played by Cate Blanchett. There are no weak performances Christopher Lee is scary self,Elijah Woods is truly excellent in the part of Frodo Baggins.Funnily enough Liv Tyler gets a very prominent billing in the credits yet she doesn't have a very prominent part in the film-maybe she becomes more important in the second one. There is no point in me trying to divulge the story as so much happens plus it would sort of ruin some of the films many surprises.
The one thing I did feel was that the ending was really building you up for the second movie.Taken in itself it would seem to be a pretty weak and unresolved ending-but then this really whets the appetite for the next part.As I said I can't wait that long to see what happens so I've just got to read the book. This is one of the most specatcular movies you'll ever see.I bet it's sort of like what Star Wars was like for the people who first saw that way back in the 70's.Unmissable!

Season 3 is great but there is NO 8th disk!

Not a review per-se, but I've received my 3rd season and it only contains 7 disks, and no 'Red Shirt files.' There is no mention on the jacket about a 'bonus disk' like on the 2nd season. Amazon needs to change their description of this packaging. They are wrong.
