Jim Carrey shines as the insane/brilliant Andy Kaufman

Man on the Moon followes the strange and unique life of the late comedian Andy Kaufman. Carrey's portrayal of Kaufman is nothing less than stellar. While Man on the Moon didn't fair well at the box office, I assure you it's worth seeing.

Worth watching again

I often wonder if I am the only one who rates this movie above the Howard Hawks film? Admittedly it has been nearly 15 years since I saw that version (and would like to see it again) but I never really liked it. John Carpenter's version does greater justice to the original John W Campbell Jr novella.
This is the classic Sci Fi plot of an isolated group of people at the mercy of some horror. The added menace comes from the fact that the enemy is definitely within - in more ways than one. As paranoia and tension mount the question is not only who can you trust but who will start pulling the trigger just to make sure?
This DVD is a good transfer with a good soundtrack. The additional features are interesting and help build a picture of the making of the film. It is a pity that more members of the cast weren't interviewed.
This is one film I would like to see on the big screen as I have only ever seen it in on video, TV or DVD. How about a 20th anniversary re-release in 2002?

Best Kevin Smith movie so far?

This is in my humble opinion the best film Kevin Smith has done yet. Much better than Chasing Amy and Dogma. Clerks is good but Mallrats is just a little better.
The new collectors edition dvd gives the viewer plenty of extras so enough already.... buy this movie.

Our Lives or Money?

Firstly, let me say, I have never seen Silkwood until about an hour ago. I thought I would write my review with the movie fresh on my mind. The performances were excellent: Meryl Streep, Cher and Kurt Russel gave some of the best performances of their careers in my opinon.
This movie is very scary. How can one put a price tag on a person's life for money or some kind of supremcy in the "World's Nuclear Arsenal"? It is amazing to me how much the government and "Local Yokals" tried to cover up evidence and the death of Ms. Silkwood. There is so much our government is doing behind our backs in the name of"keeping its citizens safe".
One thing that really bothered me was Silkwood's co-workers. I am appalled and amazed at how complacant these people were with the flimsy protocals of a dangerous job. They didnt want her to "rock the boat" and they wanted her to keep her mouth shut. These people didnt realize that their lives were more important than that job or any amount of money.
I think everyone should see Silkwood, it will have you asking more questions than you can think of answers.

During the 80's and 90's I was lucky to live in Berlin. Now I am back in New Jersey. Sometimes I get homesick. Do you want to know what I do? I shove this movie into the VCR. It gives an awesome view on Berlin and its people. Couldn't have been more realistic.

New 50th Anniversary Edition of Quiet Man SENSATIONAL!

Imagine watching "The Quiet Man" with Maureen O'Hara narrating throughout! It is nothing short of sensational - like having Ms. O'Hara in your living room. There is much commentary from Maureen throughout the DVD and she is given free reign. None of these little snippets of information. What is also important is that classic film buffs we are finally getting some truly accurate information about the making of this film masterpiece - from someone who was there. We have indeed been blessed with the longevity of Maureen O'Hara. She is still gorgeous and spirited and a wonderful representative of her industry.
If you don't own a DVD then this is a valid reason to run right out and get one. IT IS WONDERFUL!

This movie was great. I saw it because a couple of my friends wanted to see it so I went. I thought it was going to be like The World Is Not Enough where the plot sucked and the action was great. Here both were great, and better then The World Is Not Enough. Here they mix great acting and a great plot with action. When this comes out I'll pick it up on DVD or VHS, or both!

Saturday Night Live - The Best of Will Ferrell - movie DVD cover picture
A Hysterical Look Back On Seven "Scrumtrillescent" Years

Is it any wonder why Will Ferrell has been compared to such "Saturday Night Live" legends as Dan Akroyd and Phil Hartman? He is so talented and was the first out of a number reasons to watch the show between 1995 and 2002. Despite a spectacular gathering of comedic talents, Will carried the show on the back, eliciting laughs in even the worst sketched and creating over 100 impressions and charatcers in a seven yeear period.

"Satureday Night Live - The Best Of Will Ferrell" contains all of his classic moments - the Culps, "Celebrity Jeopardy", the Spartans, the Roxbury Guys, Harry Carrey, Robert Goulet and so much more! Just try not to laugh when you see him shake his a- while banging the hell out of that cowbell in the "Blue Oyster Cult" sketch. Or even make an attempt to sit still as he, as James Lipton, sucks up to an equally hilarious Charles Nelson Reilly (Alec Baldwin). Trust me, you will not succeed.

My only qualms is that there are a few great moments left out. We only get forty five seconds of his classic Bush impression (though to be fair, when do you the same impression 30 times it's kind of hard to pick which one's the best) and only brief clips of his Janet Reno impressions, "Dog Show" and "Morning Latte". Also, they don't show any of the "Storytellers" sketch with Neil Diamond, which is a fan favorite.

But what's here is here and what's here is hilarious. My advice is to go out to the store and pick up this dvd today. (But please, don't get "The Best Of Will Ferrell, Volume 2").

a definate feel good movie

I loved this movie and recommended it to everyone I could think of (and they all loved it, too). No matter if you are gay or straight, this is a great picture. In the end, when Tom finally realizes that Eli is the ONE for him and that he loves Eli as much as he loves Tom, it makes you feel wonderful. I watch the wedding scene over and over again.
