Jesus Christ Superstar - movie DVD cover picture
It's not about the sound..........

I hope that my "review" will be deserving of this DVD/Presentation of this "Jesus Christ Superstar" cast. I saw this movie (for the first time) when I was in seventh grade, performed it (playing Jesus) when I was in the eigth grade. Four years ago when the show was on tour coming through Dallas/Ft. Worth, I purchased two tickets for seats three rows from the stage. I was fortunate to be able to have Ted Neely singing that evening (had not the night before, from throat irratation). The other individual that had come with me to see the performance had been forbidden to see the movie when it first came to the theator. I had not sung the songs in almost 20 years, but when the play started, the words flowed from my mouth. I would never have thought it possible for Carl Anderson (Judas Iscariot) to surpass Ted Neely(Jesus) as far as vocal...wrong! This DVD, or in VHS form, allows the viewer to understand the bible in a nutshell. Like the "Left Behind" series does for individuals that haven't read the bible or have read it, and still find it all too ..... hmmmm, how does one say this......'wordy.' That series of books, gives the reader (the common lamen) a better comprehension of the bible. This DVD will still relate to this generation, as to the various situations that the different charactors are playing. When I showed this DVD to friends of mine (I'm 42 now) they too were extremely effected and moved to a different level of understanding of the importance of those few days. The music, the sound and the actors chosen to play the roles were perfect. Ted Neely(Jesus) will give you goose bumps in The Garden of Gethsemane, Barry Dennen(Pontius Pilate) will make you feel the pain in the Trial Before Pilate and Carl Anderson will take your breath away with every song he sings! Enjoy! I have for over half of my life!

Glowing Review from Its #1 FAN

Like many movie-musicals (Grease, Xanadu, etc.), this film is intended to focus on sounds--not plot or character development. Those looking for the latter should avoice all musicals. This is light-hearted, plotless but full of solid musical performances. Conoissures can go to Cannes.

One of John Wayne's Best!

Truly a Classic, but let's not forget the magnificent score by Dimitri Tiomkin. All movies that I have seen that were scored by Mr. Tiomkin, were made more memorable through his musical artistry. "High Noon" is another good example.

DEFINITELY A 5 STAR!!! we love this video!!!

With Christmas just a few days, everyone's favorite classic cartoon character, Strawberry Shortcake, has decided that it's time for her to choose some extra special Christmas presents for her extra special friends. So, with Honey Pie Pony in tow, she travels to a magical place called Holiday Land, to search for the perfect gifts, and she finds them. But when an unexpected incident involving a pile of melting snowballs ruins all of the presents that Strawberry Shortcake selected for her friends, she is forced to realize that the most important aspect of Christmas isn't giving presents, or even receiving them, but rather having friends to celebrate with.
STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE was my absolute favorite cartoon when I was younger. So seeing her come back, especially in a holiday movie, I knew I had to have it. I must admit, it doesn't disappoint. BERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS features the classic cartoon character, along with all of her closest friends, and teaches children and adults of all ages a special lesson about Christmas, and the holidays all together, through a series of songs and adventures that they embark on, in this holiday movie. A must-have gift for all this year. Especially for those of us who grew up with the cute little red-haired girl named Strawberry Shortcake.

Wonderful memories revisited.

Watching this collection of Warner's cartoons brought up deep feelings of nostalgia and happiness. Not since I had discovered Mame and the ability to play Donkey Kong on my computer had I been so pleasantly transported back in time. Here they are in the first of hopefully numerous volumes, including the one cartoon that still causes me to tear up a bit, `Feed Kitty' when Marc Anthony cries and wails as he imagines the kitten getting made into cookies. The adult-centric brilliance of these gems from the 40's and 50's golden age of American cartoon continue to delight and astound with their subtleties as the viewing audience grows and matures. Breaking the fourth wall, with the characters talking to, and acknowledging the audience was unheard of in their time and unique. The picture quality is sharp, you can though still see some of the hair and specks etc. from the masters, but on widescreen HDTV the colors are gorgeous. The extras are very informative and give numerous insights into the men and women who toiled away in the dismal locale of Termite Terrace but made it a wacky, fun place to be. A lot of the interviews are with the children of the original creators now, and even then the children appear to be past their 50's. It's an interesting commentary that these beloved characters have endured multi-generations, appealing always at different levels the older you got. I find myself continually amused and delighted at Daffy's wincing expression and sour puss facial ticks as his beak is blown off into a bewildering variety of positions by Elmer in the Wabbitt/Duck Season trilogy. This is an excellent compilation, it is all over the board as far as what they included, it will be interesting if future volumes try to adhere to some sort of chronology. For a first effort this is definitely a highly recommended keeper.

Great adaptation of the original!

This movie is a remake of the Original Ocean's Eleven which starred the Rat Pack. I think it was better than the first, although that's just personal opinion.
This movie is funny, smart, hip, modern, and entertaining with a dream cast: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, Bernie Mac, Carl Reiner, Elliot Gould, Casey Affleck, and more...
Danny, a convicted thief, (Clooney) has just been parolled. But he doesn't even have a change of clothes on before he's plotting his next job. He gets together the crew of a lifetime to pull of a job that has NEVER before been sucessfully accomplished - They are going to rip off TWO Las Vegas Casino's and walk out the front doors with the money in their hands! -(and hopefully, if things go according to plan, Danny will win back his ex-wife -Julia Roberts- also)
Full of great humor, and cool stunts! You'll love this movie! I recommend it for everyone!

True Art

This film adaptation of Blatty's novel is phenomenal. True art seems to be that which shakes us at the core of our being... this film does just that. Although trivialized as either Catholic propaganda or another horror flick, it is something more. It is a film bold enough to tackle theological and philosophical issues, often lacking in conventional Hollywood tripe. While it is difficult to watch at times, this is a film that WILL change you (hopefully for the better!). The BBC documentary included with the 25th Anniversary Special Edition is also interesting to watch. While I have not seen the restored theatrical release, I've heard some contextual elements (edited out of the 1973 original) were included. I guess it is like the restoration of Da Vinci's "The Last Supper"... a refinement of an already existing masterpiece.

ohh so exciting

much beter than the first film. more blood, vampires and a great helping of narcotics. the effect applied when the vampires are destroyed although looking like millions of marbles, you gradually warm to then. wesley snipes acts like God in this role which turns out to be a truly great film, if not a little disturbing in places.
