It's About Time

When I started seeing The Munsters, Green Acres, and Mr. Ed on DVD, I knew it wouldn't be long before my generation would be represented in DVD/TV land. The Partridge Family was a personal favorite of mine when I was seven or eight years old. I was afraid time wouldn't be kind to this show. Boy, was I wrong! The transfer looks crisp - especially for a 70's TV show. The songs are still hummable (I dare you not to sing along with Together (Having a Ball), and let's face it guys, Shirley Jones was HOT! I've read the other comments about the songs used in the opening credits. I'm glad they used the original "When We're Singin'" opening. While I liked "Come On Get Happy" better, the DVD stays true to the original broadcasts. Finally, my three kids, ages 10, 5, and 4, think the show is fantastic. Now I will be able to whip one of these bad boys out the next time I am subjected to another insufferable episode of Full House on Nick. The kids will be happy and I will too! A great deal for the price.....not to mention a fun walk down memory lane!

One of the Truly Great Westerns

This a film that should have been shot by John Ford, the father of the Western. The great interaction between Clift and Wayne is absolutely superb. This is as good as Wayne gets, as good as his performance in The Searchers. The DVD is so-so, with no extras. It deserves much better, as does The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. (And why isn't Fort Apache on DVD???) By the way, for the reviewer who complained this was not in widescreen, it was not filmed that way. Outside of the The Big Trail, almost no film was widescreen until 1953.

It's better then Barney!

Gargoyles is the greatest thing to happen to animation since the invention of the pencil. This show has something for everyone. Action, comedy, romance, everything you could ask for in entertainment. You can watch it twenty times and still find something new. This is so cutting edge in the field of animation that after you've seen it you'll find yourself wondering if it was real. Just in time for the holiday season, so it'll make a great gift. All my friends are getting one.

Wonderful Patsy Cline/Jessica Lange!

To my mind, this is one of the better biographical movies I have ever seen. Jessica Lange portrays Patsy Cline very well, with her lip-synching to Patsy's wonderful songs. Even the costumes Jessica wears resemble those on Patsy's LPs and still photos. I am totally impressed with this film. I saw it in a theater in its initial release, and a friend copied it off TV - my first movie. I enjoyed it then, and now, with this DVD copy, I can enjoy it even more.

No prison can hold Rutger

Modern prison of the future, prison without fences but lethal for anyone who tries to escape. Add Rutger Hauer as main star and you have big shot! Interesting action scenes, a lot of fun and Rutger's cold humor. This is TV movie, but it's a lot better than many I've seen in theaters lately. It surely deserves *****.

Amores Perros - movie DVD cover picture

Worth the rental or purchase

Though I'm a Tom Hanks fan, I didn't see this movie in theatres nor did I rent it. Reason? The story sounded boring as all get out and the 2.5 hrs interminable. However, I very recently stumbled on it via satellite because I was bored. But what a great movie to "un-bore" oneself with! I was immediately rivetted, no doubt due to Hanks' perfect acting skills that could only bring such an otherwise difficult role to sink into come to life. In fact, I so enjoyed this flick I decided it was DVD-able, that is, it belongs in my DVD collection. So I bought it. Despite the 2.5 hr. length and the premise that it's really a one-man show, the movie moves along, a hard task for any filmmaker and certainly, for the main (and only real) character in the story.

Awesome Concert, and Awesome Fans

I went to this concert in Denver, and at the end of the night, I was so sad, I did not want it to be over. For days after when I would think about it, I would get goosebumps. The talent that these 3 guys have, is just incredible, they truely are the Masters. I feel that I never have to go to another concert ever, because I have seen THE BEST!! When I found out that this tour was going to be available on DVD it was a dream come true. I live overseas now and waited 8 painful days for my DVD to come. It was worth the wait. The crowd was so into the concert, it was electric!! Anyone that is complaining about the crowd noise must be too old. I thought that it added to the excitement and brought back all the memories of that special night in CO. If you are a RUSH fan, this is something you have to get. I can't stop watching it!! And I can't get rid of the goosebumps!!

Who knew Desert Storm was so much fun?

I've heard Three Kings referred to as a "war movie." Well, it's set in a war (after one, anyway), but really, it's more of an action comedy. And it succeeds marvelously at both. Combining its own unique style of action, an offbeat, original sense of humor, a fact-based, compelling storyline, great characterization, and some really crazy-cool camera work, Three Kings proves to be one of the best movies of '99 (right up there with The Matrix, if you ask me). The DVD's great; I own it. At least give this one a rent; it's a lot of fun as well as a great film.
