It's about time they released the Best of Phil Hartman on DVD! He was the best SNL cast member ever and this disk is long over due. Can't wait to get it. No matter which skits they include, it'll be awesome. The VHS version is great and hopefully this will have more. Would love to see the Soilent Green sketch.....Soilent Green is People! People!!!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Second Season - movie DVD cover picture
We can all agree on the second season

Most everyone who I know that watches BTVS feels that the second season is the best, and I couldn't agree more. The scope and sequence of the shows is truly amazing, from episode one in which Buffy sports a nasty 'tude in dealing with the Master, to the last episode where Buffy must make a heartbreaking decision about Angel. What happens in between these shows is an expansive list of entertainment: the introduction of Spike and Drusilla; Zander falls in love with an Incan mummy; Buffy attends a fraternity party only to find out something evil lurks in the basement; the first Buffy Halloween episode; Giles's past comes back to haunt him and his friends; the original second slayer, not Faith, but Kendra, is introduced; Angel's past is revealed; Oz is exposed as more than human; Zander getting more than what he bargains for in the Valentine's Day episode; Angel loses his soul, becomes evil again, and kills one of the characters on the show; that bad, blue dude, the Judge, is assembled and plans to destroy the world. I haven't even mentioned "Some assembly required", "Lie to me", "Ted (with John Ritter)," "Bad eggs," "Killed by death," "I only have eyes for you," or "Go fish."Those who love BTVS will undoubtedly buy this collection, but for those people who only "like" the show (or by god don't even really watch BTVS), do yourself a favor and buy this one set. It's the best season of one the best shows on television.

Finally a series about women! and only women!

What a show! It's no sitcome like Will & Grace or maybe Queer as Folk. The L Word is pure drama. Of course with funny moments and lines, but the main theme: drama!
And it's outstanding.
The best episodes - for me - are "Looking Back" (they all tell their coming-out storys) and "Limb from Limb" (with "the" scene).
Jennifer Beals and Laurel Holloman (Bette & Tina) are SO perfect together!
I never expected it to be that great.
The best show ever!
Oh and besides the drama.. the sexy ladies are a nice bonus too.. :-)

It's just a series you HAVE to watch. Buy the dvd box and enjoy!
Don't miss the new season in february!

Welcome

Shania thank you for putting together this excellent DVD. It would be so cool if you could make a new DVD every week with such power and such great music and songs. I found this to be just totally filled with the trademarks that makes Shania who she is. It has the great songs, music, band and Shania at her best. Thanks for a great DVD filled with so much of who you are and what it takes to be that. I know that by the way yo respond to your fans you would be saying your welcome and feeling a little shy over it all. Buy and enjoy an evening with Shania over and over.

Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Rest assured.

Sure, nothing will beat the real original trilogy as we all know and love them. You'd think Lucas, being such a connoisseur of old films, would recognize a threat of tainting nostalgia, but his actions show that he doesn't think in terms of protecting nostalgia, but rather puts technology first, and updates his films as he sees fit. Lucas doesn't believe in the proverb "just because you can doesn't mean you should". Be that as it may, the Special Edition is refreshing, and I don't think it takes anything away from the overall feel that allowed everyone to fall in love with the movies in the first place (except maybe the ridiculously updated, all-CGI Max Rebo band in the special edition of ROTJ). Overall, I think it is a tad harsh to take what would be a 5-star rating down to a 1 simply because of a few new scenes.
I've been waiting to see the original trilogy in pristine format since... well, since 1982, when I first fell in love with the saga. As if the movies weren't enough to get excited about, the special features disc looks incredible, and will be chock full of goodies that not even the most die-hard Star Wars fans have seen. Head over to the official Star Wars site to check out all the special features.
By the way, those waiting for a non-Special Edition version of the Original Trilogy on DVD... just wait. George Lucas is probably the most business-oriented film director in the world, and knows exactly how to capitalize on every little teeny tiny detail that will bring him a profit... Rest assured there will be an UNTOUCHED Original Trilogy on DVD sometime in the near future. Over the next few years, I would expect no less than 2 or 3 big sets of Star Wars DVD releases... An untouched Original Trilogy set, a New Trilogy set, and a huge "sixology" set... not to mention the anime star wars on DVD, children's cartoon star wars on DVD, star wars the TV sitcom on DVD, and star wars the reality show on DVD.

I SO wish i could give this movie more than JUST 5 stars!

If you're looking for a scary movie that breaks all the rules & is nothing like the first two pitiful movies of this trilogy than this is for you, just beware what is lurking in the shadows it might just be a frightening joy ride of a movie w/ a very sexy cast, pretty good acting, & nice lines like "What's your favorite scary movie? My Life!". I would say Wes Craven hasn't made a masterpiece but finely a movie I can actually watch & not just once but multiple times.

Queer as Folk - Series 1 (British TV Series) - movie DVD cover picture
THE BEST!

Having been a major fan of the American QAF, it was great recently to see the British.
Like a lot of folks have said, the initial story line is almost identical, just treated in a different way. British is faster paced and funnier, especially after you get used to the Manchester working class slang. But the faster pace keep the characters from having quite as much depth, although I like how the relationship between Stuart and Vince turns out more than Brian and Mike. But I'm more of a romantic about stuff like that.
And the British is far more authentic in its approach to the working class culture. The American boys claim Pittsburg working class roots, but they behave like middle class suburbans.
Overall though, I like the larger cast, more complex story and character development of the American version. And there's nothing in the British that comes even close to the impact of the last show of season 1 American, especially for someone who's been through a similar situation as what happened to Justin. That one episode did more to heal my old emotional pains than years of counselling could ever hope to!! I also think the way the American told the story of Mike's 30th birthday was much better set up and followed through to a logical conclusion than Vince's 30th on the British. If I hadn't seen the American, I probably would have missed the point on the British.
But all in all, the British is definitely worth having if you're into QAF.

HANNIBAL- did it 4 me

Hannibal - was an interesting epic of a movie, the shere presence of adrenalyn , gore and great acting made this film a pleasure to watch. T he script was exellant and may of the phrases will be remembered as much as the T2 lyrics "i'll be back" but i will let the audience find that out 4 themselves. Anthony Hopkins is a star adding quirky, black comedy into places where he is tempting the audience to guess at what happens next. The first film was horrifying but the final 10 minutes of Hannibal was pure gore. The cliffhanger ending is leaving a sequal open so the fans may enjoy another Hopkins Masterpiece.

Simply the best!

I was overwhelmed before I got to the theater simply in thinking about the real tragedy, the real people. The emotional effect of the movie, which was significant for me, was more my thoughts of the real people who lived and died, not the chracters provided for the plot. Certainly, the main protagonists present attractive and enjoyable personages, but the real power of the movie is in the reality of the actual event, and the incredible ability of Mr. Cameron to place us on and around the Titanic from departure to sinking. I would not have voted Titanic Best Picture simply because the script is not great. The movie is spectacular, enjoyable and worth the price of a ticket, but my vote for Best Picture would easily have gone to Good Will Hunting for a great script and excellent performances. I am more eagerly awaiting the next screenplay of Damon and Affleck, than the next special effects epic by Cameron. Kudos to Cameron never the less.
