I think I know why the Disney is releasing it now

I totally agree with all the other reviewers, especially the review from ??superpope_dot_com's.?? Indeed, it is criminal for Disney to hold such great films and not share them with the people in The States. The marketing people at Disney have no vision at all.
Me too, I've gotten the Castle in the Sky on DVD from Japan Town long time ago. What a wonderful film. And I think I know why the Disney does not release it until now. Because the Atlantis and the Treasure Island (the wannabes of the Castle in the Sky) were big failures and box office luck busters, and the Spirited Away has claimed a huge critical and monetary success. Now they finally open their short-sighted eyes, knowing they have the real gems, which are far much better than their own copycat products and try to tap in to Miyazaki??s master pieces after all that.

There's Something About Mary (Full Screen Edition) - movie DVD cover picture
Be Stiller My Quaking Sides!

This movie was my first real experience of Ben Stiller and in the numerous times I have seen it, I have yet to tire of it. It endures as one of my favourite movies, and I hate romantic comedies as a rule! However, this is not your usual romantic comedy by any stretch of the imagination.

The story basically carries you along the life of angst ridden, therapy dependent and introverted Ted, (Stiller), as he tries to track down the one high school love he had. That would be Mary, (Diaz). In the process, he sends out a private detective with a host of his own problems, (Dillon), who also falls for this Mary. That is also in addition to the host of others who have fallen for this girl. Throw in a serial killer, a gay bust at a roadside rest stop, Puffy the dog and some healthy doses of speed, and great comedy is what you have.

Stiller is great as the pathetic and somewhat anal-retentive Ted. The role seems excellently suited to Stiller's style of acting and character. He really shines in this movie, and it is largely his work here that has got me to be a large fan of his. Diaz comes across well as the sports loving, butch, but-so-sexy-at-the-same-time perfect woman, Mary. Both of them lack some of the chemistry of other on-screen love interests, but that lack is hardly noticeable in the chaos of the comedy.

Be warned that there is a lot of sexuality used in the jokes, and that some of it is pretty sick. However, overall, the comedy is truly great, even if it has a sick moment or two.

I laughed myself almost to oxygen starved loss of consciousness. I have seen the movie perhaps more than 10 times, and I am not yet bored of it. If comedy of a high standard and only many levels, (some crude levels, too), is your thing, I would recommend you get this movie. It is great!

Chocolat (Miramax Collector's Series) - movie DVD cover picture
As Scrumptious as Chocolate itself

First big suprise with this film was that it was filmed in English language, not French, so there are no subtitles. I've read that more and more movies are being shot in the English language simply because the potential box office profit is so much huger. Put simply, this is a delightful film which many critics are probably grading downwards because it is "just" a simple story that is simply (but beautifully) told. I am hardly ready to number myself among them! Lasse Hallestrom, who first distinguished himself with the marvelous "My Life As A Dog," knows his way around a film script and with actors and it shows. Playing much like a fable or fairy tale, Juliette Binoche is a woman, Vianne, who wanders from place to place with her daughter, Anouk, setting up shop as a chocolatier. This time she sets up shop in a peaceful French village in the winter of 1959. Delightful as the love story portion is with the river rat, Gypsy-like Johnny Depp, it is the hilarious war waged on Binoche by the town's mayor, played by Alfred Molina, who will reduce you to complete gut-busting laughter. His wife left him and his inability to deal with that fact fuels a lot of his animosity towards Vianne and the general air of sensual repression he wishes to foster in the village. All of the villagers are delightful characters and Binoche is pulled into relationships with them. If you need to brighten up your day, this is the movie to get.

Absolutely the best film Hitchcock ever made

Everybody's got a favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie. Mine is VERTIGO. Everything about this movie is more than perfect. The performances from Kim Novak, James Stewart and Barbara Bel Geddes- beyond Oscar quality. The film is a masterpiece. There are multiple themes that are repeated throughout the movie, which make it subject to many repeated viewings. I've seen it many times, and I could see it all the time. Every time I see it, I find out something new. When you see John "Scottie" Fergeson going over the top, you'll have a hard time believing that it's Jimmy Stewart up on screen. Kim Novak is a beautiful, shimmering brilliance in her two- actually THREE roles (Madeline, Carlotta Valdes, Judy). And I found it hard not to sympathize with Barbara Bel Gedde's Midge. Alfred Hitchcock's meticulous direction pays off more than ever. The ending delievered such an emotional, psychological shock that I couldn't stop thinking about it. My advice to you: stop reading, go out and see VERTIGO. You won't regret it.

Punch-Drunk Love (Two Disc Special Edition) (Superbit Collection) - movie DVD cover picture
Simple, strange, and sweet!

Paul Thomas Anderson's PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE is undoubtedly the strangest romantic comedy I have ever seen. However, I was completely blown away by how refreshingly awkward it was, how sweetly the romance of Barry and Lena was drawn.
Adam Sandler gives the best performance of his career as a man who has spent his whole life running away from love. Emily Watson is simply adorable as the mysterious woman who comes into his life and shows him the ups and downs of a relationship. As always, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Luis Guzman are great fun to watch, even in smaller roles.
Anderson deserves a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for writing this simple, strange, and sweet concoction. It is one of the year's best films.

Cauterized

What a show. I cry laughing at one point during every episode. They better keep this one around for a long time. The casting is flawless... there's no dead weight. I can not WAIT for this DVD.
I'm a big fan of Arrested Development, Seinfeld, The Office, CYE, Conan O'Brien, Chappelle Show, In Living Color, Mr. Show, The Larry Sanders Show... if you like this kind of comedy, you'll dig Reno 911!

The best of the best.

Training day is a great movie... denzel Washington gives an excellent performance as a corrupted cop. The acting is so good because Denzel plays a completely different role than any of his other movie's. Ethan Hawke also acts very well is the movie. The movie is very well done, and i was happy to see SNooP DOGG andDr. Dre in the movie.I would definetly recomend training day to anyone looking for action / drama / crime.
